Central Park West came to Romania very soon after it's release in the USA - maybe one year later. If it was too hip in the USA, it was even better in Eastern Europe since it presented a whole new world for us.
i have the entire series on dvd and if anyone has interest please contact and let me know what price you want to pay and i will trade/sell. i will only trade for soap stuff
Central Park West had the bad fortune to air on CBS during the 1995-96 television season - quite possibly the worst season the network has ever had. CBS tried to change its image from "old and dowdy" to "young and hip," with disastrous results.
(Keep in mind that CBS was number one from 1991-92 to 1993-94. It fell to number three in 1994-95 and nearly slipped to fourth in 1995-96.)
This show was cited by some critics as a symbol of CBS's "identity crisis." It never really had a chance.
And during that time, KTVF here in Fairbanks -- who've been with CBS from the moment they signed on in 1955 -- had enough and said to themselves, "To hell with CBS; we're going to NBC!!!" (who was the top-rated network in 95-96).
CPW was also on CBC in Canada before they decided to drop all US programs from primetime.
carrie fairchild was at this moment, well I was a teen guys please, my model: a millionaire sexy bitch, leaving in NYC, having an amazing lifrstyle. Classier than the hiltons & all the party girls.
It challenged some of the typical prime-time soap/drama making conventions of the time. Most notably it was shot entirely on location in New York (even in winter). Plus, I suppose the convention at the time was still to have long protracted story arcs that would last entire seasons. CPW had the opposite of this, i.e. there were many storylines told at an incredibly fast pace. Seriously, if you missed an episode of this you were in trouble.
Looks like CPW is gonna have another chance. There's a nighttime soap opera that's gonna be coming on ABC in the fall called Dirty Sexy Money. And it also takes place in New York city!!!! Pray to God that this nighttime soap does not get canceled!!!!!!!!!
thank you so much!! IM so glad that someone finally put this up! CPW is one of my favorite shows. well at least the first half of the show....CARRIE ROCKS!!

I was so excited before the show debuted but afterward I never got into it.
Michael Michelle left New York Undercover to be on this show and it didn't even last that long.

@gshunw what do you mean by that? do you find the show was boring?
Restlessi 5 months ago
@Restlessi No...just never sat down to watch the way I had anticipated I would.

I love this intro. The backing beat kicking in and the final title screen are the best parts.

I wish that the SoapNet network could play the show for a limited run to see if the public would like it now that it's no longer on the air.

Darren Star should try this one again ... it was a few years ahead of it's time in the late 90s. Today, it would be a big hit. Jason. ;)

I always found it funny how Muriel Hemmingway got special billing, while Lauren Hutton was tossed in with everyone else.
BTW Thanks so much for posting, I have been looking for this forever !!!
