I remember the old Iron Horse from the 60s. Metro rebuilt a number of those in the 80s, put new red seats in them and rode em another 15 years. Also the GM RTS & Flxible CHBM. Most likely all of those were retired because they couldn't meet new EPA standards without costly modification.
The NABI's have another 1 years of life to them. WMATA got them in 1995, in bus parlayance that's not long ago. They are superior to the stinky M.A.N. Diesels they replaced. They are easy to spot from the Neoplans cause of the center wheel arrangement which differs on both models.
nice video. The ugh C40LFR has a cummins westport right? One time i was on h st i herd something that sounded like a orion vii with the cummins 2501-2614 and i thought 2 m self i thought that that all of the 2500 series viis were in four mile run and i looked behind me and their it was a 2007 C40LF and i waz like wow.
in my opinion the best type of buses we have in boston is the D40LF C40LF the neoplan articulated and...theres one other kind .. cant remember the type which are all better than the nabi type buses oh and the RTS are good too :)
Yep thats a Neoplan. At a distance its easy to mistake them as NABI's. I have a couple of times. The NABI's are getting way too old. I hope eventually metro orders some Articulated New Flyers.
We go the Neoplans in 2003 so they are still good.

This is why I love Silver Spring Station, there are different kinds of buses everywhere.
btw that bus with the red Benihana wrap is #4257 and #2081 must have been on the J4 because there is no J8.

Do the WMATA 9800s (9801-9818) have that dark-sounding exhaust note that would make Tim Burton proud?

Was that a first bus a VanHool like AC Transit newest buses???
qwandiddy 3 years ago
Nope.
That was a New Flyer C40LFR CNG-powered low floor bus with revised styling.
Sulaco516 3 years ago
Note that the "R" in C40LFR means restyled. So you don't have to say "with revised styling".

Man, the buses I love in your city is RTSes, keep up the good work on them.
If that first bus Is VanHool 360, I love the engine noise of that bus.
qwandiddy 3 years ago
First it was New Flyer C40lfr, then Orion vi, then Neoplan An660, then Flxible metro D, and finally Orion V. We have variety of buses.
ECDT1089 4 years ago
That was a Neoplan USA AN460A? I thought it was a NABI. See what happens when I have a lot of fun!
