i used to play the oasys a lot at the music gear dealer.

On one Hand its sure awesome - it gives you everything you can think of and a lot you even can't think of. Its perfect in handling and anything - but (thats personal view) - this made it somewhat frustrating to me. You hit 3 keys and have a song playing. And the song can be of any musical kind. But what is it actually sounding like? Where's it's soul? And what of the sounds could really be played as Instrument WITHIN a song?

I am indeed surprised that Korg has cancelled the OASYS, however, the technologies have been passed down to other products. It's a very deep synth, and I'll never 'master' it -- but it was never about mastering it -- it was about playing and enjoying it. Thanks for the comment.

I've had the honor and privilege to work with an OASYS 88 and its the most powerful synthesizer on the market. never mind yamaha and roland. Korg is the way to go. OK after a couple of years of Korg touch screens, now there is at last a blind friendly synthesizer. yes it works with a screen reader on the mac with logic and a smart application. So as a blind pro musician looking at touring, I wish someone would help me finance one. they're £5300 here in the UK so bloody expensive. but hey.

If your other passion are synths, look at Oberheim, Moog, ARP, Roland Jupiters... The sound engine of the OASYS is great but the features that make the Oasys that expensive(LCD, integrated DAW, CD-r), nowadays with powerful computers and DAWS, it's like paying $4000 more for a car because it has an integrated cell phone nowadays in the hands free bluetooth era

You can program the OASYS to have a different sound to Particales and waves if you want, There is a tutorial video i have that tells you how. It's awesome, and cost me £5,399 UK (88key)8 months ago. It was £5,399 When it first came out, over 3 years ago, It's £5,399 NOW in thew shops! - this Board will NOT (it seems) come down in price!. Nice Video anyway, But i think you should angle the studio monitors triagular, or towards your ears, not facing forward like that (my opinion:)

This keyboard HAS a sequencer, it has EVERYTHING. That's why they call it a workstation synthesizer. It is based on software, it has the linux kernel in it. And they always release new Operating System versions to it, with added effects, added synths, added voices, etc... Now the most amazing feature is actually the karma, but that's for another time :)

It's expensive, but the integrated KARM system with that instrument is incredible. But hey, the Roland Fantom series is incredible! I have the prior series, the 5080 rack systems -- incredible instruments as well!

Hi RG - it's an amazing instrument. Yes -- you can get a hell of a PC and a ton of software synths and external controllers for the same money, but, looking at it as a self-contained instrument, it's incredible. That is truly amazing, pure wow! Linux is known for being used in studios and within Hollywood. There even a Ubuntu Studio edition adding onto the Ubuntu family of Operating Systems. I am not sure if it a Linux or UNIX system that your sweet system has but at a guess I would say it using a Linux Kernel - at a guess
