He's using the wrong word to describe something totally different. WMM can not crop a video. Its a basic video editor that can do dinky effects, and paste several clips into a single file. To crop a portion of the screen and save the reminder as the desired file, use something like Pinnacle, Adobe, and even QuickTime Pro to crop a portion. Someone should hand him a dictonary because to crop is not the same as to trim.

What you did was trimming, not cropping.

Cropping is when you leave length alone and say cut out 1/3 of your video dimensions. Just like with pictures.

Thats how it works on Sony Vegas Pro, might work on WMM too

not with movie maker. the only way you can do it like that is separating your video into individual clips, and then crop. once done, you can ad them to the middle of the time line, or where ever you see fit. its easier with a better program like sony vegas, but its only easier after you've read the instruction manual =p

The best way I've found is using Sony Vegas or Virtual Dub, VD is free. There should be some videos on them on here.

(I don't know if you have already worked this out) Yes. Click at the part of the video where you want it to skip. Press ctrl S. This will split the video. Then go to where you want to start the video again. Press ctrl S. Click on the mid-section and press delete.

you create a splice before and after the section you want to remove.. then right click on it and delete it :)

underneath the preview movie theres the play, fast forward and other buttons. to the right you'll see two separate buttons

one of them splits the vid at the frame you are at

then its pretty self explanitory

you do it the same way as you remove from each end

split the video into 3 sections by bringing the timeline cursor to the spot you want to split it and then clicking on the split button on the lower right hand corner of the video player. then right click on the middle section of video on the timeline and then delete :)

you may have dragged the video into the timeline for the video and the timeline for the audio.. then you have 2 overlapping timelines.

I think it's a problem with the computor. My lap-top was going perfect, but then I think it over heated and the screen went almost completely black, When I used my computor monitor, it started doing that to me. What really sucks is I Was almost done with a slideshow, which was hell to edit and make. Eventually I made it and now they are going to use it in a dvd that will be sold to many many people. That makes me happy, but now I don't have a video editor. I am sad. :(

Go to tools, options, compatibility, and restore all defaults. When you download new versions of flash player, java, etc. that people normally use in their daily lives on the internet, wmm automatically makes it compatible to that type of player. Well, some players that aren't too well-known aren't made to be compatible with wmm and causes it to (well, shut off). When you restore defaults, it unchecks these uncompatible programs so it'll work again. Welcome.
