Well, Owen fucked up, nobody should "jump" like that when doing a piledriver and he keep the head to low (I know, it's a few inches, but look at 0:28 - it's visible that it's too low, the head should be just over the knee protector of Owen, it just below)... However, he try his best to cover his ass after, which is a lot more that others do...

Good job by all there, especially stone cold who just about managed to pull it off.
But once the match was won, he should have waited for paramedics. Its bad enough the risk in what he did to get the match finished. If Owen caught him in the wrong place on his way down it could have made things a whole lot worse. But walking out instead of proper medical procedures could have done untold damage.
It's easy to sit behind a computer and criticise someone, but its another to actually step into that infamous circle. It may come as a surprise to you, but not everyone would be thinking clearly, "like a professional" with a broken neck. He could barely stand and he carried on with the match, why not try showing some respect?

@KONGONTOWER It wasn't REAL as in it wasnt INTENTIONAL...Owen wasn't deliberatly trying to hurt Austin (pro-wrestling is scripted remember), he messed up and failed to protect him in the delivery of the tombstone....and Austin genuinly suffered a neck injury because of it. It was an accident, but the unjury Steve suffered was REAL.

@SKiLLiGEstaz I think Stone Cold also said that. The reason he had to retire was because his neck never truly healed. He was in constant pain. He retired all those years ago and he says that just a few months ago his neck FINALLY got back to 100%

Good job by all there, especially stone cold who just about managed to pull it off.
But once the match was won, he should have waited for paramedics. Its bad enough the risk in what he did to get the match finished. If Owen caught him in the wrong place on his way down it could have made things a whole lot worse. But walking out instead of proper medical procedures could have done untold damage.

It's easy to sit behind a computer and criticise someone, but its another to actually step into that infamous circle. It may come as a surprise to you, but not everyone would be thinking clearly, "like a professional" with a broken neck. He could barely stand and he carried on with the match, why not try showing some respect?
Owen RIP very well could have made it look more convincing it doesn't entirely rely on Austin. Rant over.

Ive been a fan since 1985 when i was 3. i was 15 when this happened, and then the Internet was coming into forefront and i learned about how wrestling worked and i didnt care, i still watched it like it was real, the moves are, the outcome no. Austin was clearly hurt the match Owen should have pinned him and won and kept the belt till Austin was ok. the fact that he rolled up owen and owen was tauting and not hurt and it was a poor rollup was a joke. I had read Austin's book, and he had discussed a spot in the match with Owen that had Owen Tombstone Austin. The issue was, Owen was supposed to drop to his knees, but for some reason, Owen kept insisting he drop to his ass.

Obviously they know whos going to win the match, its scripted so people stay entertained, hence the name World Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT. Even if it is choreographed, the jumps. flips, and all high manuever moves still hurt. Just because something is scripted and choreographed, doesnt mean its fake and doesnt hurt. Its a risky business, and so many injuries occur because of it.
