I'm writing from Mexico, I watched pretty much all your videos. I have to thank you because your comments help me a lot. I had my tendon tear 8 weeks ago, I was on LLC the first 6 weeks and 2 more weeks with a boot cast. Today (August 20th 2010) is my first day with out any cast or boot at all. My foot is completely swollen (just like yours in one of your videos). I cant tell by watching the videos things are different here in Mexico, I was in the hospital for 4 days after surgery. Saludos
Hola. Uno de estos días, me encantaría visitar México! I'm glad you were able to find the videos helpful. 4days after surgery?! Wow. They couldn't kick me out of the surgery center fast enough. Haha! I think I was out in under 4hrs.
You say your foot is swollen, but are you in pain? How's your scar healing?
I ruptured my AT back in January. When you plantar-flex fully how does the AT, foot, and calf feel? Are you able to do squats, standing calf raises, and walk barefeet? I would be interested if you could show that in your next video update.
Plantar-flexing feels fine. I'm NOT at the comfort level I was w/it prior to the injury though. I expect that to return in time. I can do squats, but NOT as deep as I could prior to the injury. Standing calf raises are easy, but SINGLE calf raises are one of the movements I am still unable to perform. I can walk barefoot, but it's not comfortable for long periods of time. I usually wear trainers/sneakers at home.
I'll make a video next week w/your requested movements. Thanks for the comment.
Nice footwork on the stairs! I am finally off of my crutches at 6 weeks post op with full weight bearing in a walking boot. My calf muscle is coming back strong and I feel great. My surgeon told me I am healing up like an elite athlete. I start my actual PT on the 30th of this month. I will start with aquatic therapy. Keep up the great work and thanks as always for the videos!
Looks great! Like some of your other viewers I look forward to getting back on my bike again (for me the kind with a motor!) Thanks again for all of the vidoes.... they are definately a help during this LOOONG recovery. Keep up the good work.
Hello, That's a great suggestion for the next video; I'll make sure to do that.
I do walk better with shoes on though if that answers your question. There's just better support for my feet even though there is a movement amongst show manufactures to move more towards barefoot-like style shoes since our feet are actually very strong.
For sure! Saw your vid on when you did it. Good work! I love climbing. I actually took a class in college and still have my harness. It's an amazing workout.
Things look like they are going great!! It looks like the bike ride was awesome! I'm definitely impressed with the stairs @ just a few days over 4 months. Still looks like going down the stairs you're a little tenative. I'm getting more mental than physical? Either way, it looks like you're doing great!
Good catch on the stairs. :) Indeed, I am NOT in pain at all going up/down, but there's still a bit of a mental block there when going with the flow of gravity. As I practice more stairs, I hope to jump that hurdle (figuratively, of course :p).

Sounds great! Always nice to get that vote of confidence from the surgeon. :) It kind of helps the healing move along.
You'll LOVE the aquatic therapy. SO MUCH different and cannot be simulated outside of the water.
Keep us updated.
