The video is great and I've anithing against the US or US people, but western people and culture are not only from the US! There are even Europeans, Canadians and Australians too!!! So don't say US people do this or that cuz I'm European and I do the same gestures of yours! XD
oh i was wondering what the eye lid stiking out tongue thing is this kid at my class did that hes not japanese but he did that and i didnt know what it meant he told me to go to google so here iam!! :P btw im not japanese either
haha, yeah on the come here part, my cousin did that when i was there, and i thought she meant like go away so i stood there for like 5 minutes figuring out what she wanted
Me speak fluent English has nothing to do with me being Japanese. And I actually don't speak fluent English. I need more work on it. But the only reason I know so much English is because I've lived in the US for a few years. But as I am 100% Japanese and have lived in Japan for most of my life, I'm thinking I can count myself a "Japanese".
I have to see if my Sensei knows all of this! : D If she doesn't, I'll probably tell her to teach it. I think it would be very interesting in my Japanese class. Thanks!
Now that was fascinating! This is just the type of info I'd been hoping to find on YouTube. Your video was SO interesting! I just learned about 7 new gestures! Thank you so much for sharing. I've gotta go look and see what else you have as far as videos go. THANK YOU!! Please please make more videos like this---I want to learn more about Japanese culture such as this. Totally fascinating.
I´m Colombian and alot of the Japanese body language is here (in Colombia, Bogota, where I live) I just found it very interesting, your report, thanx for the vid.
I have a question, what about shuffling feet? I worked in an international lab where all the Japanese shuffled their feet. One day, one of them made a terrible mistake and the director was very mad at him. This person, I noticed, stopped shuffling their feet for about a month.... Strange. Do you know anything about that?
Tell us more - it's interestig. Tell what is taboo and what is sacred. Ex. in a cook show, Bob Flay vs. a well-known Jpns chef - at the end of the show, Flay got on the table stepping on a cutting board, with his hands over his head - like a sportsman, as a sign that he persevered. The Jpns chef felt it was an insult - because in Jpn. cooking utensils are considered sacred. Stepping on the cutting board was a taboo.
Oh! Useful and funny! I had no idea even adults would do janken pon :3
A very nice video.
One question: why do people hide their thumbs when they see a funeral car and why do their thumbs represent their parents? I don't really get that part.
Great video! I just stumbled upon it and even though I don't care particularly about the Japanese culture, I was somehow enthralled to watch the whole thing :-)
ohayo! genki desuka? david desu. i forget but to signal "boyfriend" is either a thumb or pinky, and vice versa for girlfriend. could you check that for me? thanks.
I'm loving it :) It's so obvious and if you see it happening you probably know what they mean, but it's good to know what you should do yourself when you need some bodylanguage.

Umm... I'm Japanese, and I tend to point with my index finger...^^
and the middle finger in Japan is the same use as in the US and/or it could mean "die" lol. xD

For a "Japanese" you type fluent English. I suspect you're Japanese-AMERICAN. Try again.

1:34 that means "NO" in Japan its not "check pls". Alot of people that I met in Japan "X" their fingers if they want to say NO.
