Hey, I have windows already installed in another drive on my HDD. Is there any way to run the same installation in Ubuntu? I'm asking this coz i have all my programs already installed in that windows and i would like to run those programs in Ubuntu. If there is any other way to run those programs please suggests.
lool.. im fairly new to linux, i started using ubuntu 2 days ago, but due to photoshop and fruityloops i have kept windows. Ive been trying to loose windows for ages, now I can do that and just boot it inside linux when I need Photoshop or FL... thanks to this video
@goldforcash I'm just too curious, if you were to play a game in VirtualBox running Windows 7 would there be any game throttling (losing performance) compared to direct Hard Drive boot? If we give the enough HDD and RAM capacity
@AiDz0r It depends on your host machine and the game your trying to play. I have played Diablo 2 with great success. It really depends a lot on your graphic card requirements of the game. What I do to tell if a game works before purchasing, I download the shareware trial. I hope this helps. Happy hacking. Ubuntu is the most secure operating system in the world. This is why I dont dual boot getting hacked sucks.
@conspiracyjunkies I see, I don't want to see Ubuntu as a hacking OS, yet I would only use it for mainstream and games, but I didn't understand pretty much in your comment. I was asking if I had Virtual-Machine (software) in Linux (ubuntu) running Windows 7 and if i Had played games on Windows 7 (in VMWaRE) and played the same game in Linux would there be any difference, i know how games affect by the hardware you have, I currently got I7-2600K and GTX 570, 8GB RAM
When I try to start XP, it keeps asking for a boot device, I tried burning an ISO and connecting the drive with the burned CD in it to my computer, and nothing was different.
@Tombstoner28 Don't try and mount your cd/dvd drive with a burnt cd/dvd, instead mount the ISO image itself, there is an option for that in virtualbox. Don't forget after it is installed to remove the ISO image from the options on the machine's settings, so that it doesn't keep asking you if you want to boot from it.
@goldforcash Thanks for replying. I eventually got it to work by inserting the installation CD and making sure the CD drive remained checked off. Still, thanks for replying.
when you're 'in' windows can you still use aspects of ubuntu?
for instance playing music in ubuntu while using a windows program in virtual box...
Or are you just locked into one operating system at a time?

I have a question, wouldn't it be more practical to run xp since it's lighter on the system?
