The dancing on the sabbath part IS one of the religious parts...it's talking about how Jesus thought it was okay to heal, help, etc. on the sabbath even though working on the sabbath wasn't allowed. ("Danced" in this song usually refers to several things at a time. Rejoicing is dancing, doing God's work is dancing, etc.)

(Anyway one neat thing about this song is, it actually IS a Christian church hymn, AND it has things in it that can appeal to pagans also...I love that. ^_^)
