  • i gots the same studio desk in my studio thats whats up and i agree 100% let the passion for the creativity of your music keep you pushin to make it a full time career or it will indeed cause you to push out trash because you focus is no longer in the passion for the music its in the strive to make a dollar

  • Word!

  • there is a lot of good beatmakers out there and just a very fewof em can live from it: the ones with the right connections.i can make good beats here in switzerlan and no one is interested

  • It is not about making 'good beats' It is all about being original, and create ur own style. I can recognize Alchemist style, after few first notes. And also instead of watching YT and telling everyone how good you are you should rather go back to ur MPC...

  • i didnt say i am that good, that was a general statement. just my point of view

  • @Moemors aye i listened to some of your beats, pretty dope

  • @KingJeremiah123 thank you

  • @Moemors i see what you mean buddy but trust me, if you find a guy with balls that can actually spit the shit outta your beat you'll become someone!

  • @Moemors yo hows that goin' now, a year later? makin' it work yet?

  • @keenan871 my first comment was more like a general statement. i dont think i can ever make a living from it. I just love music and beatmaking but more like for myself and a few others.peace

  • @retromaniac617 just like dilla did rip dilla dawg best producer Ever!

  • @retromaniac617 i beg to differ man.. Mainstream music is all about capital..The ones who are true artists and love music are usually the ones who aren't recognized in todays industry...

  • @retromaniac617 ya alchemist ur amazing, but if you're talking about making music for passion, oh man check out Ryan Leslie, EPIC!!

  • Real...talk.

  • but at the same time theres quotas, which means , hey after a while , if this isnt working and youre not getting anyway, maybe you need more help,or maybe its not for you.

  • thats the same reason why in sales, when you hire a salesperson you have to give them a salary and they cant work on commission. its called covering your base, because if salespeople have to worry about their next paycheck they wont be able to sell productively because their effort is spent on surviving. so all salespeople get a base salary, and then their commissions is gravy for them to buy all the toys and whatever they like.

  • these whack 808 empty beats and senseless dumb lyrics is exactly the effect of people making music only for money

people forget the essence of hip hop beats and rhymes

  • no wrong 808 is dirty south dirty south is a culture hence somebody gotta make dirty south beats to keep it alive

  • yo peep the page and lemmi kno wat u think bout the beats

  • Yep he's totally right. Money or fame should be the upshot of your art.

But the driving force should be the love of it.

  • insipiring words man, I'm producing at home right now, definately feel what your saying about not putting pressure on yourself to make money out of it. Just be in the flow, most probably that will lead to people respecting what you do. peace X

  • damn hes sexy!! hot young blonde..check out my sexy dancing videos!!!!!! xo (-=

  • Wow great insperation Alchemist.. his beats is tuff! imma work harder now on my beats.

  • I have to give it to the guy, he does give some good advice. Create music because you love it. Not because you think you are going to be the next BIG THING making a ton of money! The odds of making it big in this overcrowded field are slim to none but if you have a backup plan, you won't be struggling to 'pay the bills' while pursuing your dream.

  • Alchemist the man bro

  • dang nyu..and now he makes sick ass beats

  • tru dat

  • Damn im just in the same position right now as he was at NYU. Goin to college not know exactly what it is ima do. but makin music, u can bet ur ass foreva ima do.

Thanx for the words of wisdom ALC.

    god bless

    Ace

  • good words... RESPECT!!!

    PEACE.

    ONE.

  • ART IS MONEY.

It is not some far off purist ambition that has no monetary value. That is why the radio sounds the way it does.

MONEY IS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND ITS CONTENT AND OUTPUT.

When the art changes, its value will also change. Then we shall see the famed music makers follow the next sonic trend that shows a clear path to Money.

There will be plenty more hitmakers to come. Plenty!!!

Fuck......MAKE MONEY. MAKE ART THAT MAKES MONEY. BUT DO MAKE ART!

  • Dilla too. R.i.p. A prolific workoholic.

Working a 9 - 5 would leave you with no time to do anything.

    Thats truthful in my mind.

Making music would simply become a far off dream. A hobby that you no longer have time for and eventually you wouldnt make anything!

You'd just have dusty equipment. Or start selling shit on E£ay.

Money is obvious. Time is Obvious. You need both to lead a creative lifestyle. Not 9 -5 working in b£rders, star£ucks or a anywhere else.

  • Very true. I make beats also and was working a 9-5 over the summer. After work and exercising, I would only work on music for about 2-3 hours a day because I would be so tired from my day. Its kinda hard to balance the two.

  • Its very easy to say go and get a 9 -5 job and make music on the side.

    Shit its damn near impoosible.

In london you could work in a clothes shop and start at 10 am and finish at 9 pm. Next day do it all over again.

    Monday to Saturday.

Where is the time to listen to records, dig, work the music? You read and watch people like alchemist, just blaze, illimind putting in 10, 12 or 14 hour days to make the music that we love! Shit Madlib lives in the fucking studio!

  • hell ya man that aint bout money but about music and doin good stuff to get a name then comes tha money

  • he couldnt be more right !

money corrupts good music its a proven fact !

  • check out my new record "ROCK LIFE" artist "REIN"

    youtube search: "REIN ROCK LIFE"

  • please dont post this bull shit if you want people to listen to your music dont advertise on somebody elses video

  • Dunny! Big up Alchemist!!!

  • Wats that purple thing at 5sec. anyone know?

  • ZIP Drive.

  • Alc has the most consistently raw and versatile beats of any producer.
