  • it would be cool to panel mono to stereo left and richt will still keeping the original mono sound in the middle, also adding delay to it would be really cool to give an effect of real stereo and even surround.

i wish i had such equipmentment to hookup all my retro game consoles to it to deliver stereo effect.

  • should've set up 2 mics at least on an acoustic anyway, lol, but yeah, not everyone can. so yup, anything to give the illusion of stereo from a mono source: chorus, stereo delay, enhancers, double and pan with 10ms delay, etc...

  • Well - Ok - ONLY part one - is actually HERE at present.. because audio whatsit - doesn't AUTO approve response videos.. PART 2 - the stereo version... is still deeply buried somewhere- in amongst all my other re-mastering works.

(on my own ch - but don't go there - as U'll never want to come back here)

  • Oh- & don't worry.

    I made IT real EZ 4dipshtz 2find

(it's "my" feature film- as well as YT's featured film)

  • And what do I get...?

    Hell - I don't know..

(Even YT doesn't know - as I get "b&gg&er_all" adverts)

BUT .. I do get shit like this...

    Try that?

I Am Where It Takes Me (We Are Siamese Twins) Re-Master of a Cruel Melody (Please Take My It Away)

That - is a totally different SOUND

To even THAT- contained in the "stereo" (of the original)

  • analogue baby - that is THE only way - That ur gona get any usefull stereophonic effect.. as difgital crap is always just a mere fraction of the SINOSIDUAL wave .. and thus?

Ur only STARTING - with just a sampled mono?

And me.. how do I do mine.. well everything goes through the deplexer decoder 1st.. THEN - I never delay anything.. but prefer to work with LOUDNESS settings.. and crossfeeds.

    THEN - when I have a track

"re_mastered' to my specific requirements.. only then- do I reverse IT

  • 4mins 13

That is the very, very 1st FAINT hint - of a stereophonic effect..

BUT DAM - I had to KILL all the OTHER 12 chs of surround sound ..

just to grab the 13th ABSOLUTE REAR.. ?

and the 3 main amplifiers (routed in follow me "series")

    ARE at ABSOLUTE max...?

SO .. what part of the whole is THAT ?

    SFA

Even with Ur TOP setting.. I still HAD to wind alll the others down at least HALF... to hear the balanced moono to ? sht stereo effect ..?

  • oops... (someone tell this twit) U 4kd up big time sonny.. All U did at 2mins 21.. was turn Ur dull mono - into a DUAL MONO .. absolutely NOT stereo

In any form whatsoever.. JUST pure & simple SINGLE TONE - dual ch - dual mono.

  • Yes.. all daws do have that pick & chose option (simply because the digital unit has NO idea where to actually PUT THEM.. whereas a true sinosidual analogue system .. does this automatically - and one doesn't need to 4k around guessing where to "put" things..?

  • Ok fine.. U don't auto approve (like I do) so .. U don't GET the 2nd MONO video Which is NOW full surround (STEREO).. Until u do "approve" (or auto approve) THUS .. ALL HEA YEE ... MONO to Stereo .. HOW is it really done.. Well folks - it's 4kn hard. BUT - with a persistant streak -? even the impossible can be achieved... It just takes a hellovalot longer. thus OLD SCHOOL MONO- Part_01 (on REEL_2_REEL magnetic_tape) is OLD SCHOOL MONO- Part_02 (Re_Mastered in 7_ch WIDE_MODE)
  • Woohoo ? HUH?

  • in the first tip you just change the channell Output right ? so , my question is what happen if i just insert a Stereo Delay inst the same?

  • thanks for reply,

me too having the same with nuendo4.3---are you happy with MR816csx. i will pm you.

  • thanks man, it is a free vst wow my voice will sound a whole lot better, keep it up

  • which audio interface you are using in this recording

  • @BIGBOSS101KARANPUR Cubase MR816 CSX to Cubase 5

  • @recordbetteraudio i am also having MR816CSX in my studio,are you happy with MR816CSX---?

  • google voxengo stereo touch, it's a free vst, works great in MODERATION...

  • this is kind of silly. the second you pan a mono track you create a stereo image; you don't need a 'stereo track' to create a stereo image. stereo images are generally created by panning mono tracks. its wording and videos like these that confuse newcomers imo.

  • @J4wsome

in your example your only "panning" a mono sound in a stereo field...not creating a stereo image...my example only creates the "illusion of stereo"..but comes much closer to "real" than your suggestion...with greater satisfaction...

  • @ forgeticalled

I don't know why you put the word panning in quotes - and you spelled 'you're' wrong.

    Your reply makes no sense.

Once you pan something, you create a stereo image.

Period. Thats real stereo; it's not complicated.

Using the technique described here in order to mimic a stereo image is unnecessary, and frankly quite hack.

  • @J4wsome

J4wsome...are you kidding..? do you know how stupid you sound...forgeticalled has given a perfectly good work around that will satisfy most people...im willing to bet you would be unable tell the difference between a real stereo track and the example forgeticalled has given....

  • @onlinejamsessions youre right - its a perfectly good WORK AROUND that will SATISFY most people, but it's NOT turning mono into stereo, as the title suggests.

this method is an overused hack and any professional can tell the difference. it sounds great when used accordingly, it sounds horrible when used as a SUBSTITUTION for a REAL stereo image.

and if I couldn't hear the difference i wouldn't care. the difference is clear. sound engineering/production is my profession, not my hobby.

  • @J4wsome Wow.. ?

    so as a

    professor..prossessor.. profffess_oh 4k..

    Sound techie..

What do U think - oh honourable sir.. of my blubbering attempts of changing my MUM's old school MONO (from a 1950's 78 "bakelite" recording) and converting it into a sterophonic "surround" sound?

Now where'd I put them.. Oh yes.. here some where..

    OLD SCHOOL MONO - parts 1 & 2.

  • @J4wsome

Your right. The main issue with this is that it's not a mono compatible method. If you separate this into the mid-side stereo field and mute all information on the sides, you will notice that the center of the mix sounds awful. The best mono tracks are in fact the best stereo, thus this method is bad

J4wsome, do you know of a mono compatible method that will turn a mono source into stereo? I work with synths and do not acoustically record, so I would need a method that fakes stereo!

  • @jditmer0 the best way to achieve what I think you are talking about is to duplicate the mono sound, pan each one to wherever you'd like it (obviously one will be so much L the other will me so much R) and that's it. It's now stereo. Since they are duplicates, it doesn't sound 'wide' so people do things like add delay to one of the tracks (like in this vid) to try to mimic it...but it doesnt sound wide to me...it sounds like one track is delayed....basically like a delay plugin.

  • @J4wsome Yes your talking about Pseudo Stereo. But adding small delays between 1-3 ms on these duplicated panned out tracks will still cause mono-compatibility issues once converted to mono. This is because the tracks will overlap with a bad sound in the center due to the slight delays

any other methods you might know of? any tricks with early reflections or impulse responses? (i know nothing about early reflections or impulse responses)

    -John

  • @jditmer0 right - I'm advocating AGAINST the ms delay. I don't know of any good IRF or early ref workarounds. May be a plugin that does this well. I've heard of using EQ in odd ways...Track A is panned left and has EQ setting X, but is bused to the RIGHT side of a stereo verb. Track B is panned right and has EQ setting Y, and is bused to the LEFT side of the stereo verb. Again, creating a sense of depth in a less destructive way, if done tastefully...

  • @J4wsome

hmmm interesting, I'll try it out, thank you!

  • @jditmer0 also a good tip is once you pan both the original and duplicate, bus them BOTH to a stereo verb, or delay. THIS will add some further depth.

  • record mono file on trck 1..pan left

copy mono fileof trck 1 to trck 2..pan right

    nudge trck 2 forward 10-20ms...

    ......bounce......

    result is a stereo track..

  • @squidskunk

    thanks...thats much faster..!

  • @radioprodhouse ....no problem...

  • @squidskunk

works great squidskunk....thank you...never thought of that im allways messing with a delay...this was much faster and sounds great..very wide stereo field...

  • @forgeticalled ...im happy it workes fer you...

  • @squidskunk

youv told one of oure secrets....shame on you....

  • @onlinejamsessions

not really a secret....learn your daw...

  • @squidskunk ..............LOL..........

  • @squidskunk actually in 25 ms and is better to record the same guitar with diferents mic positions or diferents guitars or both

  • @squidskunk Nah... result is JUST a dual mono

(it's still way way way... below a TRUE stereophonic output)
