Because of my love for the Tau, i got into Savage Scars and thus into the White Scars. I like the novel because Hoare used all of the Tau races and tactics at the time in it. However I did dislike the fact that most of the fights were one sided. I mean Commander Farsight was supposed to be there at the endfight where he fought the Crusade to a standstill. Just my Tau fanboy speaking here. The White Scars though are very interesting and I like them more then the self rightrious Ultramarines.
I'm currently reading both books at the same time. They are quite good. I have Hunt for Voldorius in paperback and Savage Scars on my Nook. It wasn't intentional that I was reading both at the same time either, it just happened.
Very interesting. I'd noticed that the White Scars aren't one of the more popular Space Marine chapters, which got me interested in learning more about them -- but material is sparse. I'm glad that someone at the Black Library is exploring them more deeply; I may just pick up these books. Savage Scars is doubly appealing, actually, because I'm also interested in the Damocles Gulf Crusade and the Tau.
@Figmentation Hunt for voldorious basically turned me into a proper scars fan over night *6 year space marine player here ^_^*, ive been interested in them as a compliment to my space wolves for ages, now im considering collecting a full force of them.
