Fantastic shit!, puts the Star Trek series to shame as for as space battles. Editing, music, over all feeling is epic. I never saw this before as I lost interest in the show, it had too much female drama and admiral Adama was weak.
As nicely done as this video is, I have two major complaints: 1. Why not in HD?!? 2. Why not take music from the !brilliant! BSG Soundtracks?!? Oh and maybe: Why not wait for season 4.5 before making this video? Missing a few very cool battlescenes here now! :-(

@Newspin 1. Can only work with the clips i had avaliable. Didn't have HD at the time (it was uploaded 3 years ago). 2. I've had numerous comments about this on other videos so will give you the same response - watch my BSG Viper Tribute vid, that has the BSG soundtrack. I didn't use it on this because there is no song that would get the same feel. Season 4.5 wasn't out (or avaliable to me) at the time, so I couldn't use. Thanks for watching though and the constructive criticism.

They were the origional cylons, on the first Earth (the nuked one) and showed them resurrection
Not bad, not bad at all. And normally I'd lean more towards the BSG OST for this kinda thing. But your editing and choice of scenes really pulled it off

Saying that however, you should check out my first video "BSG viper Tribute" as that uses the OST, and while the editing imo is weak as it was my first video, i think some of the ideas were the best and it pulled together very well.
Crappy music is crappy. Thats ur choice mate, and I dont question that. U made a fine selection of battle scenes anyway, I watch it on MUTE and with original OST from a different tab and all of a sudden everything seems right again :)

Thank you for not ranting about it needlessly though and actually dealing with it decently. I get a lot of hate on this video from people who havn't proven they can do better. Yeah the origional OST is good, it just doesn't have the feel i wanted for a lot of the videos i make about BSG (although havn't made another one for ages now).

However, i felt limited by it in the making of my next videos (even though it is a great soundtrack, it just didn't give the feel i wanted), and so deviated away from the OST into different music

Admittedly I have used it on a few of my videos (my second one from ages ago, when the song wasn't that popular) simply because of the lack of other songs that give the same feeling. I don't mind the song itself, its just how its used that defines my opinion of the video. I honestly could listen to it over and over in videos if they are well timed. IF they arn't that is when the song becomes painful.

I have used a range of different music for my videos so you are welcome to have a look at them to see if you like them or not. @gunnerdelta I doubt that. A lot of the music I use is orchestral based. Many 12 year olds don't listen to orchestral style music (yes it is a modern orchestral style granted.) As i said, I found that this music fitted the video. It was used for the final showdown in the Matrix, aka an "epic" battle. I was making a video in tribute to a video from a while back called "BSG Epic Battle" so the two worked well together for me.

Some origional that havn't been used in BSG vids so far (to my knowledge of when i made them. May be a different case now). Also you want an idea that was origional. I started work about a year ago (havn't found time to complete) on a BSG video using Sanctus by Karl Jenkins. I've NEVER seen a music vid with that in.
@gunnerdelta And i'll also add that you have no videos on your own channel that are music video tributes. So really, until you make a few music vids, especially to BSG as this is the topic of most of my music vids, you really don't have much to comment on. And another example, a Saving Private Ryan music vid i did using "Fanfare to the Common Man". That is highly unlikely to have been used elsewhere. So please, do your research on my vids. You simply miss the whole point/meaning of everything.

Sorry it isn't a dance/techno song for BSG. They don't fit my preferences often.
Hatin' on the music. BSG had a great soundtrack all its own. This Matrix stuff was too over the top for Matrix itself, it definitely doesn't fit here.
@omganotherun Sorry its not to everyones tastes. One of my earlier videos was done with the origional soundtrack. However, the only soundtrack that really fits a fast paced video is Prelude to War from the BSG soundtrack, but even that is considered slower than what i wanted for this video. As i said, look at one of my earlier videos. The editing is a lot worse as it was my first video, but if you want the origional soundtrack, thats deffo worth a look at. Thanks for watching.
@TRUExSIGHTS Try something from Two Steps from Hell, Brand X Music or Immediate Music/Globus next time. Also "Storming new Caprica" from the OST fits pretty well imho.
@Helge129 Same response as to the last comment. I have used quite a bit of Immediate music's work (atleast 2 videos that i can think of). I also used Gladiator music (for a Pegasus video as i thought it suited the Pegasus) and Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. Just watch all my BSG vids to see the range of music I've used.
@ozmorphus It is the same song as said in the video description and by the copyright notice on the side.... I wish people would actually look at the whole video info before asking this. Just to make it easier for you though its Neodämmerung by Don Davis. In future please look at the obvious places to find the answer first.
Most ppl find music that sounds like or follows the basic sounds of the BSG track, i had to mute your video and listen to my own music just to get threw the video but thx for uploading the cool battle scenes.
(I wish you could change the music out but i know you edited it to pretty much every beat of that song)
@newm123 I'm not sure what you mean by like or follows the basic sounds of the BSG track (unless you mean similar styles of music to the BSG soundtrack which is not what you want to hear). I have used BSG soundtrack music, and music that is similar to BSG to keep within the feeling of the show itself, though it is true i have also moved out into some other genres depending on the video.

@filippe999 You can, just buy the boxed sets (they're pretty cheap in the long run tbh) or watch re-runs. Its a great show and definately worth the money, and I've rewatched the series loads of times (in full about 3 so far).
I love how videos like this have become breeding grounds for morons and their half baked arguments. There are a number of incidents in the comments of people coming on looking for trouble and often finding it. Criticism of the video and the show is acceptable when it is relevant and well thought out. Not when it is designed solely for the purpose of trolling and shouting matches.

I don't mind people saying they don't like the show aslong as they say why and if it's decent critiscism instead of "it sucks end of". Infact theres also alot of different versions of matrix music used, because its part of a movie soundtrack so the variations occur depending on the scenes and on the film. Another track thats also over used is Globus' Preliator. I mean it takes so much effort and time though to write a swear word on my video inappropriately i guess i should be thanking you though really, that huge bout of intelligence.
Youtube used to be very useful for finding specific clips or pieces of footage that I happened to be looking for. Now, EVERY SINGLE THING i type into the search field brings up nothing but stupid fucking fan-made garbage videos.

@sam23696 On my fist vid i did use the BSG soundtrack. However, the pace of the music doesn't always fit the video you want to make if you only used the OST so you have to use other pieces of music + it would get boring if EVERY video used BSG music only, as youd never see anything different. Searching youtube for a specific part of the series isn't a good idea, as they arnt often allowed up due to copy right claims, though the OST is all on here so thats not a problem.
@AVNCIALHPI It's one of the best moments in the series (if you've watched it all) and it was to do with the Epic Battle theme, where the cylons had infiltrated and destroyed the colonial fleet.
@JinRenegade when he said "that music" i thought he referred to the music i used, which isn't exactly common place throughout youtube.
To create a fanvid though, using other music is required. I do sometimes keep the origional sounds in, but not always the music (though i did keep the origional soundtracks for my first video).
@Helge129 Your thinking of requiem for a dream, which is admittedly used on a large number of videos. I've only seen this music used on 3 other videos so far so really it isn't exactly common use. Mainly because not many people know the name of the song involved.
@Helge129 not in comparisson to Requiem for a dream (Lux Aeterna) which is used probably in 1 in 20 videos on youtube to be honest. This is used alot less frequently. I've literally heard hundreds of videos using requiem for a dream now, and only as i said 3 other videos using this song so it is not as used or common. Not to mention, theres different forms of it due to it being a film sound track so some of the main parts of the tune are repeated in other sections of the soundtrack
that was I think the best put together vid of most if not all of the BSG battle scenese EVER on a scale from 1 to 5 I give it a 1,000,000 not only for the video but for the fact that BSG was the most Drama filled EPIC SPACE BATTLE FILLED TV series EVER since 07

As i said, I thought this music fitted the video, and ultimately as the editor its my choice. If you don't like it, I'm sorry I didn't choose another song.

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion. Without knowing me at all. I enjoyed the Matrix films, and this piece of music, because quite frankly it is a very good orchestral piece. Sorry it isn't a dance/techno song for BSG. They don't fit my preferences often.

Hatin' on the music. BSG had a great soundtrack all its own. This Matrix stuff was too over the top for Matrix itself, it definitely doesn't fit here.

@omganotherun Sorry its not to everyones tastes. One of my earlier videos was done with the origional soundtrack. However, the only soundtrack that really fits a fast paced video is Prelude to War from the BSG soundtrack, but even that is considered slower than what i wanted for this video. As i said, look at one of my earlier videos. The editing is a lot worse as it was my first video, but if you want the origional soundtrack, thats deffo worth a look at. Thanks for watching.

@Helge129 Same response as to the last comment. I have used quite a bit of Immediate music's work (atleast 2 videos that i can think of). I also used Gladiator music (for a Pegasus video as i thought it suited the Pegasus) and Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. Just watch all my BSG vids to see the range of music I've used.

Most ppl find music that sounds like or follows the basic sounds of the BSG track, i had to mute your video and listen to my own music just to get threw the video but thx for uploading the cool battle scenes.
(I wish you could change the music out but i know you edited it to pretty much every beat of that song)

@newm123 I'm not sure what you mean by like or follows the basic sounds of the BSG track (unless you mean similar styles of music to the BSG soundtrack which is not what you want to hear). I have used BSG soundtrack music, and music that is similar to BSG to keep within the feeling of the show itself, though it is true i have also moved out into some other genres depending on the video.

@filippe999 You can, just buy the boxed sets (they're pretty cheap in the long run tbh) or watch re-runs. Its a great show and definately worth the money, and I've rewatched the series loads of times (in full about 3 so far).

I love how videos like this have become breeding grounds for morons and their half baked arguments. There are a number of incidents in the comments of people coming on looking for trouble and often finding it. Criticism of the video and the show is acceptable when it is relevant and well thought out. Not when it is designed solely for the purpose of trolling and shouting matches.

I don't mind people saying they don't like the show aslong as they say why and if it's decent critiscism instead of "it sucks end of". I get critiscized for sticking up for the show and they say "you don't take other people's opinions into account" amazing how they ignore mine on my own vid :P

The reason i care is because its a series i like, and in the end its on my video, i wouldnt bother otherwise (if it wasnt on my video i mean). Ill agree to disagree with you upon how good the BSG series are. I, and many others have found it to be one of the best, if not the best, ever sci fi shows around

If you look over quite a few videos you'll find on some of them (i admit i dont reply to all comments) that every comment has been answered. I know people comment on other videos aswell, but i dont see the point of just going on a video to deliberately say "i dont like this show". Its a waste of your time for a start, let alone everyone elses' who actually bothers to look at comments.

You have simply come on a video about a show to critiscize the show. Why bother? If you don't like it, just don't watch anything to do with it. If you liked the show and didn't like my video it would be a different matter. I generally take constructive critiscism, but the only thing you have done is down talk a show on a video about the show.

The fact that the officers on the galactica and pegasus came from only 2 or 3 of the 12 colonies shows they addressed this. Star trek is completely different from BSG. Infact theres also alot of different versions of matrix music used, because its part of a movie soundtrack so the variations occur depending on the scenes and on the film. Another track thats also over used is Globus' Preliator. I mean it takes so much effort and time though to write a swear word on my video inappropriately i guess i should be thanking you though really, that huge bout of intelligence.

Youtube used to be very useful for finding specific clips or pieces of footage that I happened to be looking for. Now, EVERY SINGLE THING i type into the search field brings up nothing but stupid fucking fan-made garbage videos.

@sam23696 On my fist vid i did use the BSG soundtrack. However, the pace of the music doesn't always fit the video you want to make if you only used the OST so you have to use other pieces of music + it would get boring if EVERY video used BSG music only, as youd never see anything different. Searching youtube for a specific part of the series isn't a good idea, as they arnt often allowed up due to copy right claims, though the OST is all on here so thats not a problem.

@JinRenegade when he said "that music" i thought he referred to the music i used, which isn't exactly common place throughout youtube.
To create a fanvid though, using other music is required. I do sometimes keep the origional sounds in, but not always the music (though i did keep the origional soundtracks for my first video).

@Helge129 not in comparisson to Requiem for a dream (Lux Aeterna) which is used probably in 1 in 20 videos on youtube to be honest. This is used alot less frequently. I've literally heard hundreds of videos using requiem for a dream now, and only as i said 3 other videos using this song so it is not as used or common. Not to mention, theres different forms of it due to it being a film sound track so some of the main parts of the tune are repeated in other sections of the soundtrack
