We need a main character like Balthier for future FFs.

It's about time we take a break from the moody pretty boy archetypes and experiment with the James Bond-Shakespeare combo.

Tidus was a step in the right direction in that he was cheerful... but he still had a lot of emotional baggage that just made him annoying. Somebody like Balthier, who can keep all their issues inside and don't need their feelings coddling every second - instead focusing on doing something awesome - now THAT's a hero who would revitalise my interest in FF.

And JRPG's in general, come to think of it. There's a lot of dull heroes out there.

In all seriousness, Balthier and Fran are the absolute BEST characters of the whole game!!! Anyone who says otherwise must have had their eyes closed through every cutscene of them.

Pastel-pink princesses and Aladdin-like street urchins are well in good. But PIRATE OUTCASTS will always win my heart!<3<3<3

It was VERY refreshing! I was excited when I heard that there was no real love story. I'm female, but I've never been very girly and I hate romances. Though the great irony is, as soon as there is a FF game with a great epic plot and no sappy love story, I totally fall for two characters. :/ Just my luck.
