  • Que denso es, bastante pesado y poco didactico para los que no estamos practicos con el idioma, LAS IMAGENES SON LAS QUE DEBEN GUIARNOS!!!

  • Am I the only one who noticed the sexual connotations? He puts the piping in and out and in and out of the hole, then he refers to it as a shaft, lol.

  • great video...

  • tHANKS VERY MUCH THIS IS AWSOME ! mY WIFE IS GOING TO BE HAPPY BECAUSE i'M GOING TO IMPRESS HER WITH MY NEWFOUND FOUNTAINMAKING SKILLS!LOL

  • I disagree, this fountain is over 3 years old and the fountain is turned off in the winter months but never taken apart so it freeze's solid. Same pots are there that have always been. Please post a video of what you build or create, ....

  • yes but the pots you used will not last long there going to fall apart on you !

  • hi im glad that you made a comment on this home made turtle fountain. but could you also be a subscriber so you know when i post how it works. anyway thank for the comment and i liked your video also!

  • You rock man, awesome.

  • Got any pointers for a bamboo fountain? I really want to make one but am a little confused as to where to start.

  • the gnome in the background looks like its taking a poo. lol

  • thanks, very helpful

  • nice job! thank you for sharing!

  • this guy is coool

  • My barrel was just a little smaller so I had to cut the corners of the crate so it would fit. Also my barrel had a hole with a plug in it so I put some putty around that. I enjoyed making it. Im gonna make one or two more for myself and one for my mom

  • Okay I posted two videos. The first one set up at my house I used red lava rock. I changed it today and added some plants and they're probably gonna put a few goldfish in

  • that's great, please post a video and let me see what you came up with.

  • Thanx man. I made ur fountain for my dad for fathers day

  • Very good idea, to help other people that don't have a lot of money to spend bu want to enjoy nature.

  • wow .. thats really nice..

what is the model of the fountain used? or at least give us the capacity GPH

  • If you watch the vid again you will see that there is a pipe running from underneath the milk crate to the top dish of the fountain. 1 end a pump is attached the other a fountain head. The fountain weights 250.5 lbs and it is fused together with a pipe unless you child head buts the fountain or is able to submerge his head under 3 inches of water there will be no issues here.

Watch the vid again, this is 250 lbs bottom heavy neither you nor a child will be accidentaly knocking this over. :)

  • Nice looking but dangerous.

If a small child runs into it, there is nothing securing the pots together and being as they are on a milk crate that also makes it top heavy.

Oh and the nozzle used, is a foaming nozzle.

  • This gave me some great ideas, thanks a lot for the video!

  • Sure is.......

  • Is that gnome defecating on your deck?

  • nice.. very creative.. i also tried building my own fountain.. i liked it. The problem is the quality of our tap water is not good. It's deep well hard water and leaves white sediments that will soon make the fountain look unattractive. Hard water rust, I think it is. Then the submerged rocks will eventually turn green with algae..

  • @mhguy77 Thank you. I will do that.

  • I did zip tie the pump but it is really just important that it is suspended above the barrel bottom. You may be able to support your pump by the tubing and fountain head itself.

The cord is just over the top of the back, please make sure that there is a drip spot in the cord, (a place that the cord is lower than the plug in recepticle so the water doesnt run into the power plug).

  • Nice Fountain, I plan on building one in the next couple weeks. Your design has given me lots of ideas. I just had a couple questions...

    1. Did you zip tie the pump to the middle top of the milk crate? It looked like that is what you did. I know that shouldn't really matter in any case.

    2. How did you route the pumps power cord. Is it exiting out over the top backside of your bottom water barrel?

Thanks for your video... Can't wait to build my fountain.

  • great idea

  • Nice!

  • nice video, thanks. I might make something similar.

  • Enjoyed your vid. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us. Good job!

    Jim

  • Yes, you wan tto set up a drip loop.

The wire needs to come out of the put and before it gets back to the outlet it needs to loop above itself so any water dripping will always run to a lower point than the outlet.

    Great question

  • Very nice! Where does the wire exit? I'm assuming it just exits thru the top of the barrel filled with water. Any safety concerns with that?

  • Can I ask...where did you find the barrel you used? At a home store?? We can't seem to find one.

  • I found mine at Lowes, last year they stopped carrying the exact kind that I have, what you want is the widest mouthed fake barrel you can get, mine is 22" I/D. I wou,ld get the biggest/widest you can.

If you wanted to get a little more crafty you could get a real barrel adn staple soem roofing or pond rubber in a circle right under the top of the lip, that would look great.

Good luck, if you need anything ask away

  • don't lean back lol

  • He's cute !

  • How often do you add water to it, and how much ?

  • I dont add often, ususally in the summer i can go for 3 days continual running before I need to.

    And then its maybe 20%

  • Its really nice with the plants , cool idea, I think I will build one now jajajaja.

  • Sure, any rocks you would like.

Sned me a pic when its done

  • Nice job. Thanks.

  • Those were some very helpful tips. Thanks for the video...

  • I really enjoy the simplicity of this. I didn't catch what size pump to purchase. but with this design, one could use the basic fountain fundamentals and use just about anything, but I do like the pots.

  • THe pump I used is a 250 per hour gallon. It moves quite a bit of water, this gives it better sound.

Glad you liked it, the pots are easy cheap and they look good.

  • @mhguy77 Could you use polished river rocks intead of lava rocks?

  • great how to vid...sure that's why you still get hits on it.

the combination of terra cotta and barrel give it a organic natural look that's pretty cool, avoids that store bought fountain look. The workings are simple but practical and functional.

    (lol at sirens in distance!)

  • I love the look of terra cotta with the water, its natural and earthy, like you said, no store bought fake look.

    Thanks for the comment

  • wow thats a cool fountain i wanna build one of this too ^^ really realy cool respect man

  • I like this and have built something similar. But what I did was buried the half barrel into the ground until about an inch showed above ground, then filled the barrel with river rock to the top. Edged it with flagstone and the whole thing looks like it is planted right in the ground. Oh, and used a solar powered pump to cut down on electricity usage. I like your fountain though. Nice and easy and anyone can do it.

  • I would love to see yoru fountain, sounds great.

  • cant find nozzle kit at home depot or lowes, any ideas

  • Ebay is a great place, they do have the kits at our HOme Depot. ALso online at Lowes Home Depot or Amazon.

  • Great idea - thanks for sharing it and taking the time to show how to make one for myself

  • Thank you and I hope you send me a picture if you make one.

    Have a great Spring

  • Nice little setup, good job!

Worth a try for sure, ty for posting.
