@ProgressiveInAmerica You call confederates "traitors" for seceding and rebelling from America. But did Americans not secede and rebel from Britain in the Revolutionary War? So by calling confederates traitors, you, as a proud American, are being a hypocrit. Why is it that it is ok for America to secede from Britain, but if someone tries to secede from America, they are traitors? Please explain that to me.
@LSskimandsk8 Before the Revolution, we had no representation in Parliament, while the South had full representation in Congress. America has been together and cooperative for as long as it has existed, while Britain is thousands of miles away over a wide ocean.
@ProgressiveInAmerica Perhaps you overlooked the fact that in 1860, the Federal Government was taxing the south outrageously because of its cotton income. Perhaps you have over looked the fact that Abraham Lincoln did not support the 10th Amendment to States Rights, and was therefore a danger to states that were democratic. the south had plenty of reasons to secede, just like America from Britain. btw... distance dose not matter. a tyrant is a tyrant.
@LSskimandsk8 UMM THE SOUTH WAS REPRESENTED IN THE GOVERNMENT, THEREFORE THEY HAD TO OBEY THE LAWS UNLESS THE SOUTH HATES THE CONSTITUTION AND WTF IS WITH THE 10TH AMENDMENT THAT IS MADE UP BS
When you have no facts, resort to being poopy pants
@ProgressiveInAmerica Made up BS? Dude, read the constitution. The 10th Amendment states : “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
@ProgressiveInAmerica So? did you just "so" the Constitution? lol oh yea and i'm the traitor. The Constitution is the Constitution. you cant just pick and choose the ammendments you like they ALL must be followed otherwise America is no longer America. well now that i think about it, America hasnt been America for 150 years.
@blackconfederate1 Lower population, lower representation since there are less people to represent. Do you not know what a republic is that our founders created for us?
@blackconfederate1 Do you know what a Constitutional Democratic Republic is? DUMBFUCK!!!! Why would states with smaller people need the same representation as states with MORE people? That makes no sense!!
@ProgressiveInAmerica As the 1850s proceeded, the divide between the North and Northwest and the South and Southwest widened. The bitter debates over the slave status of newly-admitted states, which had been going on since at least the Missouri Compromise of 1820, were signs of the very real fear Southerners had of having their voice in Congress drowned out by
@ProgressiveInAmerica "Yankee industrialists." Incidents such as the Southern protests against the "Tariff of Abominations" in the 1820s and the Nullification Crisis of the 1830s demonstrated how deep a rift the tariff controversy was creating between North and South.
@ProgressiveInAmerica In Congress, Southern Representatives and Senators were concerned that their interests would not be suitably addressed. As immigrants flocked to the Northern areas, swelling the ranks, Southerners were afraid the Northern states would increase their representation in the House of Representatives, blocking "Southern-friendly" legislation.
@ProgressiveInAmerica Prior to the war about 75% of the money to operate the Federal Government was derived from the Southern States via an unfair sectional tariff on imported goods and 50% of the total 75% was from just 4 Southern states--Virginia-North Carolina--South Carolina and Georgia. Only 10%--20% of this tax money was being returned to the South. The Southern states were being treated as an agricultural colony of the North and bled dry.
@ProgressiveInAmerica John Randolph of Virginia's remarks in opposition to the tariff of 1820 demonstrates that fact. The North claimed that they fought the war to preserve the Union but the New England Industrialists who were in control of the North were actually supporting preservation of the Union to maintain and increase revenue from the tariff.
@ProgressiveInAmerica Lincoln increased the rate to a level that exceeded even the "Tariff of Abominations" 40% rate that had so infuriated the South during the 1828-1832 era ( between 50 and 51% on iron goods). The election of a president that was Anti-Southern on all issues and politically associated with the New England industrialists, fanatics, and zealots brought about the Southern secession movement.
You see this is the best way to deal with trash that would destroy our Dixie Cross banner, you do something honorable like this and remember the men who died and who fought.
