how do you learn to throw knifes,just stand in a field throwing knifes at a target until you get good?

@Dskuf97 There's a big difference between sport throwing and combative throwing. We train both (and you'll see examples of both in our videos). Combative throwing is all about hitting the target and hitting it hard. It's usually trained as a way of closing range or distracting an opponent. You may not always succeed in sticking the point in the target (which of course is always ideal) but as long as you hit the target itself and hit it hard (which we do) it's a win :)

@izasnia It was just a demonstration, im sure they can throw alot farther away then that. And besides if you can throw a knife and stick it into a target no matter what distance, that alone takes alot of patience and alot of skill. Many people can't even do that.

The True Flight doesn't throw worth a damn. I bought a six foot by inch and a quarter hardwood dowel and made a spear out of it. The Sure Balance throws pretty good though.

@demonman905 Throwing knives can be very frustrating to learn, but very cool once you start getting half decent at it. Throw it by the handle using no spin technique. That way you can throw at any distance you don't have to pace out your target. Check out Ralph Thorn videos here on u tube, and prepare to be amazed!

I have to say, the screws that hold the handle scales on the Perfect Balance Thrower are not strong enough to handle abuse (i.e. an amatuer thrower like myself). The knife itself can handle just about anything. I wonder if Cold Steel can improve the hardware so the handles can withstand more abuse?
