If you were a fan, you would know that his pieces (especially extended compositions such as Taurus I) unfold, progress, and generally become more interesting as they go along. Making a decision as to the quality of this music after listening to a mere 2 minutes is somewhat premature. Listen to the whole piece five times all the way through. If you a musical idiot, as it seems, it will take time to appreciate.

Read his autobiography "Changling" and you'll know why he is the way he is. He's complex, a musical genius, and fighting inner demons at this point in his life. I love his music. He reflects ME in a lot of it, with it's ups and downs. I will always listen to him, the way I listen to the likes of Bach and Mozart. Mike Oldfield's compositions are similar in their complexity and inner beauty.

But great playing and would love to know how you got together with Mike and how he was to play with and just generally. How long did you rehearse for? What gear did you use exactly?

Anyway a fantastic concert and amazing to do that sound with so few people really. Can't stop watching it now and just ordered the DVD as well to get the better quality.

Remember seeing Mike play this at a free concert he gave at the London Guildhall the day before Charles and Di got married in 1981. Taurus 1 was the first piece he played and when the twin drummers came in the sound went right through me. I was only 15 and I was hooked for life.
