  • It smells beautiful, I just tried it today due to your review. I love it so I bought a full bottle.

  • @taewittawat All right!

  • Hi there Katie,

Would you please review Chergui by Serge Lutens, also? I want to purchase, it is winter now, here in Southern Hemisphere. I really need to hear your review first ;O)

    Thanks a million

  • @bta1352 I've got a review of Chergui on my blog. You can click through to it from the Website button on the front page of my channel.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells Thanks lovely lady :o))

  • Katie your a legend, you make me laugh with your descriptions. Did you present the Word once upon a time? Anyways... great review.. thanks again.

  • @321Trooper Yep, that was I.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells its great to have found you again, I like your style! and u look really great by the way. it was only the smile and the dimples that gave it away! :)

  • Hi Katie! I just had to re-visit this review because of your One Million video. Nice!

  • @AP0LL0edc Good to see you here! Glad you followed my lead.

  • Katie, I wonder which Serge Lutens fragrance(s) is(are) your favourite(s)and which ones you own or find full bottle worthy, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. In fact I'd love to see a video in which you talk about your favourite fragrances of some perfume houses (not every, it would take ages!). Like, for example, Daim Blond from Serge Lutens, Homage Attar from Amouage, Une Rose from Frédéric Malle and so on.

  • Katie what do you think of la nuit de cellophane??? i have and i love it ... is there another perfumethat smells similar to this?? also i love perfumes that smell like rose and aldehides any sugestions?? thanks kathie

  • @MrRic2828 I haven't really gotten my head around Nuit de Cellophane yet. For rose & aldehydes, try: Narciso Rodriquez Essence, Penhaligon's Elisabethan Rose, D&G Rose the One, Chloé Eau de Parfum Intense, Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose.

  • I love apricot, and I'm getting tired of wearing coco mademoiselle every single day. I want something totally different. This might just do the trick.

  • well Katie, i finally have in my hand a bottle of Daim Blond and hopefully this will end my perfume spending cuz it's getting outta control. way out of control. how bad does it get for other people? is there a PA Perfumista Anonymous? 12 sniff programs?

  • @handelviola My perfume pen pal Dan likes to joke that his fragrance acquisition habit is going to end up with him dead in the alley behind a perfume boutique. A 12 sniff program sounds like a pretty good idea. At a certain point, you'll have to decide between poverty and just buying samples/decants (instead of full bottles).

    Enjoy your Daim Blond!

  • i finally got to try my first serge lutens, fleurs de citronnier, i think i'm converted. love it!

  • @handelviola Ironically, perhaps, Fleurs de Citronnier is one of the uncharacteristically light scents from Lutens' line. Most of the others are chock-a-block with spices and stewed fruits and leather!

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells I am a proud owner of my first serge, fumerie turque so yummy but it doesn't last very long on me.

  • Katie's one of the most beautiful women on the planet

  • I watched this review a couple of months ago and then saw it while on vacation last month. I remembered your great review of it and tested it on myself. Needless to say, it came home with me. It is fabulous! Thank you so much! - J

  • @hannanewf I'm pleased to hear you two made such a good match!

  • LOVE your videos. Just getting into the beautiful world of fragrance. SOOO glad I have you via the tube to "help" me. You are HILARIOUS and beautiful at the same time. Thanks for being awesome!!!!!

  • @freakyguru Aww, thanks for your lovely comment!

  • The lady at the perfume store, told me you could mix up Serge Lutens fragrances together. Its sounds fun because you can do so many combinations. So i tried Miele de bois and Clair du musc. And its true ^^... Lovely. To bad my budget doesnt allow me to mix more of these.

  • @Kejeka Hah! The SL lady fed me the same line a few years back, and that's how I ended up with Ambre Sultan and Fleurs d'Orange. And it turned out I didn't really care for Fd'O, and passed it on to a better home. Even though your combo worked, I think that the SL perfumes are mostly pretty thick and busy and too overstuffed to mix and match.

  • Wow! This smelling business is neat!

I happened to get the end of a bottle of this. It makes me think of crystal ashtrays - in a good way - because it reminds me of my parents' parties when I was small. My mother used to wear Rive Gauche (YSL) then - am I way off thinking there is something of that in Daim Blond? (Maybe because I ended up using those crystal ashtrays far too much later in life? {lesson: smoking is bad for you})

  • @muniqueen1 I love it when perfumes hold that time-travel element in the wisps of the smell. I haven't made the connection between Rive Gauche and Daim Blond, but that doesn't mean anything. I love that whole late 60s early 70s "grown-ups"/"Ice Storm" era.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells

So I finally got around to smelling Rive Gauche again and don't know what I was thinking as was nothing like Daim Blond (which upon a later wearing, made me think of pencil shavings & then Dr. Pepper - I kind of liked the pencil shavings, but the Dr. Pepper not so much). Back to the mystery of why my mom smelled so good when I was little. . . apart from the fact that she was my mom.

  • @muniqueen1 Well, Rive Gauche is a reference aldehydic floral, the type of which is not much seen in current mainstream perfumery. We aren't really accustomed to those sharp aldehydes these days. I'm reminded of a 17-year-old viewer who wrote to me saying she loved wearing RG even though her friends told her it was "old lady". She loved it because it turned her into a "don't mess with me" woman!

  • Thank you so much for your suggestions! I will definitely check those out. And you were were right about the one - i got to try it the other day and i am in love! I just got my own bottle :) i am so excited!

  • also i love your reviews!

  • oh hi! i was wondering what you think of D&G the one? i have been lemming it for a while now because i love warm fragrances with a bit of vanilla and amber muskiness/creaminess to them but i am worried it will be too sweet or too monopolar instead of the sexiness i am going for. Any other suggestions in this realm of fragrance? I am just into my 20's so i am giving up the kiddie scents and want something more grown up and sexy :)

  • @aStarlitSea D&G The One is a good fit for you. Also try Guerlain Idylle, Narciso Rodriguez For Her (compare the edt & the edp) and NR's new For Her Musk in the purplish bottle. A sheerer amber that's very nice but not as "sexy" is the new Prada L'eau Ambree. Oh, and check out Lancome Sensuous while you're at it.

  • I like the way you reviews, it's unique, and I was wondering what the name of the song ate the end is?

  • @HasinaHORROR The song is "Perfume" by Sparks from their "Hello Young Lovers" album.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells thank you so much, love your reviews

    X

  • Maybe if you get a chance you could reveiw Ralph lauren always yours Its my current favorite.

  • @Tarafiyed I like that one a lot better than RL Romance.

  • Love it, love it--Pajama Party, that is, not Daim Blond. : ) I miss the 90s, when pjs were a bit more fabulous than now.

Anyway, have you smelled any perfumes by Ajne? I'm curious to try some out. I may buy some samples soon.

  • I haven't encountered the Ajne line. Let me know your findings.

  • such a shame it just looks like regular tv.

you tube is a new medium and should offer the possibility of new ways of presenting information. like being really creative. this is just like dead media.

  • Dolce and Gabbana's Sicily! Curious about what you think...

  • can you review benefit cosmetics cresent row perfumes?

  • I'll look into it. I like the little "houses" those perfumes come in.

  • could you do a review on chanel chance and/or lalique

  • Okay!

  • funny

  • Sued and apricot? This fragrance doesn't sound too appealing. lol. Oh well. :(

  • It seemed like such an odd combo when I first came across it, and now I smell it all over the place:

    Amani Privé Cuir Améthyste

    Keiko Mecheri Cuir Cordoba

    Gap The Lover

D&G 10 La Lune (apple & suede included here)

  • snorting a pair of chaps! =]

  • Next time you're at Scent Bar, I hope you'll strut on over to the Parfums de Nicolai section and take of whiff of the intriguing fragrances being conjured up by Patricia de Nicolai, the unacknowledged genius of the Guerlain family.

  • Yes! PdN! I have strutted over to her selections, thanks.

Did you hear that she was giving a presentation with Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez last week in Washington DC? Sure wish I could've attended. Would love to hear from anyone who did.

  • I love Daim Blond. I especially like to pair it with Un Bois Vanille, also by Serge Lutens. A perfect combination :)

  • That's funny, you mad scientist! You've created a posh version of Pink Sugar!

  • yes :) way classier and subtle

  • Indeedy.

  • mmmmmmmm sounds delicious

  • hi katie! just wondering what you think of j'adore by dior and cashmere mist by dkny. thanks!

  • J'Adore is plush and floral-peachy - I recently tried the "L'Absolu" version, which amps up the florals and emphasizes how much J'Adore is an updated version of those old-school florals like Patou Joy.

I'm conflicted about DKNY Cashmere Mist. On the one hand, I appreciate that it's going for a mysterious, abstract, beautiful skin scent. But on the other hand, it smells thin and chemically to me. It's not quite "there" as a fragrance. But it sure is popular!

  • I like this perfume for its velvety soft smell. Everytime I wear it, it feels like a soft embrace.

What do you think about Serge Lutens' "Un bois Vanille" and "Ambre Sultan"?

  • Oh, I love both Un Bois Vanille and Ambre Sultan (check out my review of the latter). Some of Luten's scents are needlessly complicated and busy (Santal de Mysore - ack! Arabie - yeek!), but with both of these, the complications work.

  • I have worn Daim Blond together with Gris Clair on occasion. Gris Clair (dry smoky lavender) is my favorite Serge Lutens scent and is my go to fragrance I have worn it consistently for over three years. What I like about the combination is how the soft suede scent of DB contrasts with the dry smokiness of GC. BTW Katie any suggestions for a new scent? In the past I have worn Silver Mountain Water by Creed (Currant & Black Tea) and Mure et Musc Extreme by L'Artisan (Blackberry, Musc & Citrus)

  • How about By Kilian A Taste of Heaven for its compelling mix of bracing lavender with creamy/sweet notes? Or Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur, the boys' version of Jicky - though Jicky was originally a boys' scent in the first place. So try Jicky, too!

  • Sounds great! I am going to have to try this one!!!

  • hey

COULD YOU PLEASE REVIEW ANGEL MEN PUER MALT

    THANKS

  • Okay, I'll keep an eye out for it and grab a sample.

  • Hey, katie!

I was just wondering about a thing or two: can you tell from your personality which perfumes you prefere?

I took a long 'which perfume suits for you' test in a magazine which just asked me about my personality and daylife stuff. Shocking enough, it was correct! The end result told which scents i liked and named a bunch of perfumes I would like. I owned almost all of the perfumes the test had picked out : o

    Weird...

Is this true? If so, can you make a vid out of it?

  • That's an interesting result. What magazine was it?

I've never had an experience like that. In fact, whenever I do those kinds of quizzes, they're so off base. The last one I did for kicks was a Frédéric Malle questionnaire that listed seemingly random FM perfumes, and didn't list any of the Malle fumes I do have.

If you can tell me the mag (and issue) where you saw this, I can look into it for a future video.

  • It was a Norwegian magazine, and I don't know which issue it was... I read it at the dentist ^^

But it was a good quiz.. To bad I can't find it again online :-/

  • Rats! That's would be an intensive search, tracking down a mag at a Norwegian dentist's!

  • i live in los angeles. a few months back, whilst i was taking buckminster the lhasa apso up the street for his morning poo, i heard a sing-songy-voice call 'rod-reee-go!' and another lhasa apso (but with an admittedly better tended to coif ) came strolling down a set of stairs. it isn't often that b meets one of his kind, so we introduced ourselves. shamefully, i don't recall the name of rodrigo's escort but when i heard you call his name on video i thought, 'i've heard that voice before!'

  • oh god this sounds UNISEX

  • It does work for both men and women. It doesn't scream out "butch!" or "frilly-dilly!".

  • HERE I GO TO BUY IT OH GOD SOMEONE HELP

  • There is no help for those possessed by perfume.

  • WE HAVE HER NOW

    - signed the apricots

  • LOL

  • sounds nice actually xx

  • Thank you!

So you have visited Morocco before? I am so happy. Lots to discover and you love the different wonderful scents we have, plus all the fragraces here are cheaper. Is there a scent or perfume you would like? Just give me a name and who it is from.

    Lots of love from Morocco!

  • Oh, some of my most exciting and romantic adventures have been in Morocco. I love Marrakesh and Taroudant and Fez, and did a remarkable drive through the High Atlas Mountains, staying at a little inn at the top called La Roseraie.

What a beautiful and inspiring country, and lovely people!

Thanks for your kind offer - but I think I'll use the excuse of perfume shopping to get myself back over to Morocco.

  • You have such a way with words. I personally think it takes amazing skills to be able to combine 26 letters and create these descriptions! BRAVO!

  • That's so nice of you to say, yescandles! Thank you.

  • Always informative and entertaining!

Looking to find your book in hardback!

    Thanks, Elizabeth

  • do you like the perfume from Nina Rici "Rici Rici"?

  • Ricci Ricci didn't really turn my head. It's a pleasant fruity floral, maybe a little more tart and and a little less sweet than the average ffs, but nothing really innovative. Cute bottle, though!

  • i was looking for reviews of carnal flower the other day and stumbled upon this whole secret society of scents, much to my delight. i'm hooked!

also, buckminster and i think that rodrigo might be our neighbor. what are the chances?

  • Welcome to the SSF (Secret Society of Fumeheads)! Working on making it a little less secret, so spread the word! (And check out my blog, KatiePuckrikSmells dot c o m, for more freaky fumetalk.)

That would be funny if you did know Rodrigowhat town do you live in? Alternately, step outside your door and yell, Rodrigo! and see if he barks.

  • i really love the sweet cotton candy-ness of pink sugar, but i kind of want something a little more sophisticated and subtle. do you have any suggestions?

  • Yes! In fact, Serge Lutens does a gorgeous upscale Pink Sugar called Un Bois Vanille.

More affordable is Vanille Sauvage de Madagascar by La Maison de la Vanille. Check out the other vanillas in that line, too. They're all sweet, but more sophisticated than Pink Sugar.

A couple even more subtle options are Kenzo Amour and D&G 10 La Roue de la Fortune.

  • "Hiiiiiiii, I'm Apricot!"

    I laughed.

    This is great.

    /runs out to Sephora.

  • Tee-hee! Well, you better keep on runnin', cuz Sephora doesn't carry Lutens (at least in the US). Check out Barney's, or online at LuckyScent, LesSenteurs, and Aedes for the line.

  • I'm glad you appreciate my attempts to pronounce these French/Japanese/whatever names, because half the time my viewers yell at me for my clumsy pronunciation! I do try really hard, though, asking French speakers for advice and checking online language guides.

  • Your French is great. If I made you feel uncomfortable correcting you, I truly do apologize. I just wanted to help out. When you pronounce words in French, it sounds much better than what I have heard on youtube from other people, trust me! :D

  • Oh, don't fret, mm - I wasn't referring to your comment. Sometimes people accuse me of being disrespectful because of my shaky pronunciation, and that's not it at all! I just am not a native French speaker, and I really do strive for accuracy - with mixed results!

But thanks for your vote of support re my accent - it gives me confidence!

  • This one sounds like a must-smell! I usually have my favorites and I stick to them. Will be looking out for Daim Blond!

  • I love my favorites, too, but there's always something new out there to turn my head. I think of perfume like food...or music...or clothes - I wouldn't want to eat, listen to, or wear the same thing every day, and I crave the same variety in my fragrance.

  • This Is A Great Reive Katie!! Hope To See You Do More Videos!! I Love This Fregrance, Love The Apricot Kick!!!

  • Must....have....now!

  • I sure hope your nose is insured for at least $ 1,000,000 !!!!!! What would we do without it?

  • What would I do without it? Hmm...not have quite so much to say about fragrances, for a start...

  • Hilariously crazy moment at 1:12

  • Can you please do a review on Kim Kardashian's new fragrance? Please and Thank you!

  • Hmmm this sounds like a scent I would like! Is the apricot very sweet? I feel like that would be the only drawback.

  • The apricot here is not sweet - it's very subtle, and provides a certain fruity aspect and a richness to the suede. But it's not lollypop sweet.

  • Great review...such fun too as always. You always get me back into my frag obsession.

Say hi to Rodrigo for me. Hmmmm......maybe he needs his own channel?

Best regards from the west coast of Canada.

  • Happy to drag you down into the fires of perfume obsession with me!

    And Rodrigo says "Woof!"

Hmmm....maybe he *does* have his own channel...

  • Hi!

Actually, Daim Blond is french for blonde swaid.

I think you were thinking of the french word for white blanc.

    Greetings from Morocco!

  • White...blond...you get the general idea! "White Suede" is how it's commonly translated on the fume blogs, but what you're saying makes sense to me.

Oooh...Morocco...one of my FAVORITE places in the world!

  • More videos! Yay! Thanks Katie!

  • This is one of my favorite fragrances! Great review!!!! :-)

  • I WANT THIS!

  • Katie: "Shannon, what happened?"

Shannon: "I went to sniff Daim Blonde and sniffed a paif of chaps by accident and got some fringe stuck in my nose"

    *watches as Katie tiptoes away*

lol, great review, now I just got to find a retailer that sells it in my area so I can check it out - don't worry, I'll check to make sure the chaps are no where around!

  • LOL!

  • oooh i like clean laundry fresh! must check it out. thanks for this review!

  • Ooooh, this one sound yum! I'll have to sniff it out soon!

Lookin' X-tra foxy by the way Katie!

  • Doing what I can in the foxy dept, thanks. It's hit or miss.

  • YUM, apricots! Lovely video, Katie!

  • Thanks, Toralya!

  • oooo apricot!!!

  • I LOVE Daim Blond. It's one of my favourites! :)

  • "That's a bingo!" (as Col. Landa says in "Inglorious Bastards")

  • I want a seeing eye miniature pony.

Or a bottle of Daim Blond.

    Whichever comes first.

  • Heh!

  • Do you know of any violet or violet-ish perfumes? Because I love pretty much all scents (Especially clean, powdery ones) but I have to say violet is my favorite. Only, I can't find a perfume that smells violetly without having a hint of rosemary, which I dislike.

  • guerlain insolence and Givenchy ange au demon and you may even like dior Hypnotic poison

  • Oh, there are SO many beautiful violet perfumes:

    Guerlain Attrape-Coeur

    Guerlain Après l'Ondée

    Frédéric Malle Dans tes Bras

    LesNez The Unicorn Spell

    Yves Saint Laurent Paris

    Annick Goutel La Violette

Etat Libre d'Orange Putain de Palaces

  • Well, the bottle is beautiful

  • I love apricot

I wish there was a perfume that smells like apricot

  • Well, this one is subtly apricot-y, and then there's the crazy sweet apricot of Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abricot. A really rich apricot is Apricot Fig by Fresh.

  • 5 stars for Serge Lutens!! yay! i love this perfume. 'all wrong and all right" :) thanks for your review.

  • @stephbunny Glad to hear from another Lutens lover.

  • Jalapeno lollipops are tastier than you would imagine, and I used to have a pair of high heel sneakers in high school!! So this perfume sounds like it would be right up my alley. :D Great review as always!

  • @cherrytrumpet You sound fun.

  • I think i love you

  • Nice! Nope, I haven't. I wanted to order it online, but I have never tried it. Excellent reviews by the way. Great editing!

  • @FalafelZombie Thank you kindly!

  • Have you ever tried Caron's Nuit de Noel?

  • @FalafelZombie I tried it just the other week in an absolute orgy of smelling at Les Senteurs in London. I'm afraid I smelled too many things in one go and can't remember it.

    Do you have it?

  • sounds unique. I am leary of unisex scents for some reason. Nice review.

  • eros.. EROS.. YEAHHH

    haha i laughed so much

  • @xNiC0L3i4Nx Heh!

  • Sounds complex...yet yummy. Now you've forced my hand and I'll have to take a trip to the Mall to check it out. Darn you, Katie! And Thank You, as well. Another great review. :)

  • @MACTackleBox Thanks indeed.

  • Thanks for the awesome review. :)

  • @atomarane Thanks awesomely!

  • Please do a review on the Kate Moss perfumes if you can!!

  • @justifiedsins Oh, I like that first Kate Moss, the rose chypre. I'll look into reviewing that one.

  • Thanks for getting back to me! I have the rose chypre one you mentioned, the one entitled "Kate". I was wondering about the rest, but it would be interesting to get your take on the on the first one. Kate Moss said she wanted to create a perfume that got "sexier" throughout the day, lol. But I hear it's the best and that the others are, well, dreadful. The others being "Velvet Hour" and "Vintage". And apparently there is a "Summertime" version of the Kate (rose chypre) now.

  • I am fond of "Kate", and the only other one I've smelled is "Velvet Hour". That one starts off a promising ambery wood, but peters out after about 3 minutes!
