  • Everyone usually talks about Phil and the guitarists but remember Brian Downey - fantastic rocking drummer. One of the best rock drummers ever!! Without him Lizzy would not be so good!

  • I wish men still wore platform heels and leather pants

  • To the two who dislike this video, may you some day understand and enjoy the brilliance of Thin Lizzy. Until that day comes, may you enjoy the simplicity of your ignorance.

  • @huskerspew to the two who dont like this video..its simple f**k em..they know not what they do..

  • Phil didn't die, he just went from being a rock star to rock god

  • Ah, Australia in the late 1970's what a wonderful time and place. Wonder what became of those fresh-faced young rock fans in the audience.

  • i used to hate this song... until NOW. i have been catagorically and universally converted, and my ass has been handed to me on a silver platter.

  • Cool jam

  • Propper rock music beautifully delivered... in a world where there is so much crap around is is great to be able to look back on some real Talent

  • thin lizzy....a great band!

  • Being of pure Irish heritage...AND having a dark complexion like Mr. Lynott...Phil is what's know as a Dark Paddy....that be me as well. The "N" word?...please you simple minded douchbags...stop being ignorant....do your fucking homework...and maybe once in awhile STFU and listen....Rock On Thin Lizzy

  • @TheStuport Douchebag - should have an "e" !!

  • @glebe3047

lol he didn't die of an overdose you stupid inbred idiot. When you die, no one will give a fuck. Let that sink in for a while. You mad?

  • i wish i had the chance to see these guys, way before my time, but glad its on youtube to appreciate the mucis.

  • Phil Lynott principal songwriter, and frontman

His mother, Philomena (or Phyllis) Lynott, was Irish, and his father was Cecil Parris, an Afro-South American. Some news and fan-site sources more specifically said that he was an African-Brazilian...

  • Yeah, and a son of a brazilian women!!!

  • If Thin Lizzy didn't have such bad luck playing in America and were as big as they were as in Europe and other parts of the world, maybe then they would've gotten the credit they deserve.

  • That's the best live footage/performance I've seen posted for the Mighty Thin Freaking Lizzy ever. God Damn, it brought tears of happiness to my eyes seeing how strong that unit was as a band. RIP Phil, I miss you Brotha.

  • Here's a band FIRING on all 8 cylinders!

  • I was so god damn lucky to have seen these guys 5 times live, from 1976 - 1980 from the Jailbreak tour upto the Black Rose tour, wish I could go back in time.........

  • so fucking excellent...miss this type of music...

  • Brilliant .. love it !!!!

  • just 17 when I saw this band. All the way from the "Gong"

  • I was there on the scaffold tower with my sisters. It's so hard to sing and play bass at the same time and Phil Lynott did it with ease.

  • @TheAuthentikate not only is he doing it with ease, it's such a kick-ass bass line. These guys are a new found inspiration for me.

  • Man.. Thin Lizzy... Amazing band. Phil Lynott played bass lines that seem to be near impossible to play while singing at the same time.. It's just not possible.. What an amazing guy..

  • I think music is what expresses you. Your feeling in way nothing else can or describe in words.

  • 2SM was the best radio station(except on Sunday night when Father Jim Maclaren came on) in Sydney till the 80s and fm came along.. so many great concerts where put on by 2SM ... miss those days , when Sydney was the best place to be in the world.

  • He's not Brian Downey, however did a great job, i enjoy to watch Gary these years

  • @moonrider67 mark nauseef is the drummer.

  • that dude filling in on drums for Brian Downey kicked ass.

  • This is still the greatest Scottish rock band of all time........BAR NONE

  • @Hunkola, Scottish band??? There an Irish band mate. Phil was brought up in dublin, born in birmingham i think. Him and Brian downey started thin lizzy in Dublin 1969.

  • @Hunkola. Scottish band? They where an irish band mate.

  • @Hunkola

That comment makes you the biggest idiot on YouTube...BAR NONE

  • A true genius in his prime !

  • Who cares what color people are?Just enjoy.

  • @clwilu94 Said it all...

  • God I love Phil's charisma.

  • lil wayn needs to get some lessons from thes guys!

  • Way before his time and he died way to young. We miss you Phil.

  • 2:13 cutie =p

Plenty to choose from all Legends all the Bollocks.

  • haha gary does a Bruce in Iron Maiden thing point with his fingers at 02.36

    -pause to see it-

  • @Grumberf Fairly certain Thin Lizzy came before Iron Maiden.

  • @Grumberf Fairly certain Thin Lizzy came long before Iron Maiden.

  • Phil Lynott, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix, Bon Scott, Stev Ray Vaughan, Dave Peverett and Kelly Hansen!

(They were all good singers /bass Gutarist!)

Thats the guys you must heard off, befor you DIE!

  • When will Baby Drives Me Crazy Comeout I miss the ending of this consert why hasnt anyone put it up yet :?

  • Out of all the deceased rockstars like Bon Scott, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, John Bonham, and Freddie Mercury, I would choose Phil Lynott out of all of them to be still alive today because he is a true rock legend.

  • GREAT SONG !!! check out my bands cover of it !!

  • Phil Lynott great one

  • remember this concert very well,i to was at the very front, got there real early with my mates 'n got a real bonus as they came on to do a sound check round 10am 'n played for bout 1/2 'n hr, by the time they came on in the arvo there were so many people there we had to hunt up bottles to piss into!!! twas an awsome day...RIP Phil... gone but 4ever appreciated 'n admired.

  • why an,t they in THE HALL OF FAME?

  • @wing59 coz people these days dont know what rock really is!!!

they even let hip hop artist in the rock n roll hall of fame

  • @lizziebean95 like who? eminem? LMAO

  • @wing59 Because they're too good for the hall. Cheers.

  • @wing59

Good that they aren't in Hall of Fame. Probably they should start calling it Hall of Shame!!

  • One of the best bands that ever existed and it pisses me off that they never got the credit they deserved. RIP Phil

  • There's no Thin Lizzy without Phil Lynott RIP

  • Here, Here!

  • I was at this concert and have seen myself in the clips as we were right near the front.

Thanks for posting this- it's great to relive a great Sunday in Sydney on 28October, 1978 (I've dated the pics in my photo album)

Anyone know how to get it on DVD?

  • You should be able to find this in shops in Oz. It's got crap sound though - but still very entertaining.

I read a recent interview with Scott Gorham regarding the remastering of their 77 Philadelphia concert for cd, and he said that they had the masters for this gig and were going to rework them. I sooooo hope they release it again on dvd.

The current dvd is called "The boys are back in town". Worth getting but the sound is particularly crap during Jailbreak & Bad Reputation (first 2 songs).

  • thin lizzy = the best musicians

  • Thin Lizzy rules, they've been the best rock band of all time

  • Thin Lizzy was very, very, very, underrated, Phil was a poets poet, and the twin guitars ......Man.....o...Man, I hope one day they are inducted in to the R&R Hall of fame they surely deserve it.

  • Yeah, they should've been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame agest ago and Thin Lizzy played some of the best rock 'n' roll songs ever made

  • and one more thing want all to think what would It be like If Phil and Jimi played together ? that would be the greates songs ever!

  • Phil Lynnot wasnt he From Ireland? an Affro brazilguy from Ireland

  • phil was from ireland

  • Hes isnt even American. He has an accent.

  • that's a blackman playing real rock and roll so fuck all ya'll racist honkie motherfuckers that stole the shit from us

  • Ha ha, we did steal it, because before it came blues, jazz, funk, spiritual, etc. Thanks, black people, for modern music. Without you we'd just have country, and that would suck.

  • That's right. A BLACK MAN playing REAL MUSIC on a REAL INSTRUMENT. Not that sampled bullshit that you hip hop motherfuckers THINK is music. Fuck YOU and your fake ass sampled crap

  • @jonzguitar he ain't the only one sevendust lead singer is black and he in a metal band. and lenny kravits is black

  • @jonzguitar Take your anti-rap/hip-hop bullshit elsewhere, idiot.

  • @jonzguitar acutely he was half black

  • @theclockworld

Coomon !!!!!!! Dont exist the half black people !! are or arent thats it

  • @jonzguitar As a black bass player, and an avid rock fan, I find your statement offensive, crude, and ridiculously ignorant. Well, watch this, I can be vile too, limp-dick. Y'all can all hate me for this if you want but seriously you sound just like the close-minded, pig-cock-sucking racist old fucks who hated jazz and rock in their early days.

  • @UsernameInvalid08 Thumbs up.

  • @UsernameInvalid08 A nigger bass player who thinks he plays rock?? Why don't you go back to your rap shit you inbred nigger AfroPest?

  • @BellumSacrumBellum28 Why the fuck are you even on a Thin Lizzy video? Clearly you can see that Phil Lynott, the bass player, is obviously an avid rock fan (or he wouldn't be playing in a 70s ROCK BAND), and he's also, clearly, BLACK. You should go back to your inbreeding music and having only three teeth and the education of a lamppost and leave us true rockers the fuck alone.

  • @jonzguitar ya know he isnt the only black guy to play rock there is jimi hendrix who is far better than thin lizzy,Chuck berry who made rock and plenty of blues players that influenced rock guitarists so it isnt that amazing to see a black guy playing this type of music

  • @RamonesFreak566 No one said he was the only black guy to play rock. And no, Hendrix is not "far better" than Lizzy. I love Jimi, though.

  • @RamonesFreak566 You forgot to metion Bad Brains, Living Colour, Fishbone, Funkadelic (earlier years), 24-7 Spyz, and Mothers Finest

  • @jonzguitar i say rap gives the idiots somthing to doo doo

  • @jonzguitar lol .. relax

  • @jonzguitar Hey get off your "black" trip. Everyone knows some of the greatest musicians on earth have been many colors. Music does not recognize color.

I feel sorry for all the stupid assholes that have joined you in your ignorance by voting you up. I would like to give you so many rights, you would beg for a left .Deushbag.

  • @jonzguitar lol I'm black and play lead guitar. hell, i'm playing it right now.

  • @ShitSoda keep on playing man! and please try hard not to notice the purely ignorant and simple-minded folks who keep holding onto the values of 1925! remember, they don't speak for all white people! it's probably a lack of sex that keeps them so angry....rip Phil!

  • @jonzguitar extreme.. :|

  • @jonzguitar I will transfer your comment to a T-Shirt. And I'll wear it every day for the rest of my life.

  • @jonzguitar I love Phil Lynnott too. But fuck you you racist cunt. Really just fuck you.

  • @jonzguitar you mean like jimi hendrix??? bob marley??? i hate hip hop too but you are a fuckin racist douche! die!

  • @jonzguitar

fuck dude calm down. There's plenty of black men that play real instruments even now. plenty of white guys that use samples and loads of people that do both. Music is music it's all good cept maybe for x factor and stuff which is a load of shit. I reckon a lot of these old rockers would have used loops and modern recording methods if they had them. Bands use multi tracking all the time to fatten up the sound ...nirvana metallica pink floyd the stones hendrix all of em did it

  • @jonzguitar IF THE BOYS WANTA FIGHT YOU BETTER LET EM

  • smokin'

  • This is the best version of TBBT I've listened to so far. Awesome performance!

  • Got to give it up. I gotta give it up that stuff.

Phil Lynnot great and tortured soul.

  • I was there! What a gig!

  • Still the greatest black rock band to ever exist..........THEY KNEW HOW TO LIGHT IT UP !!!

  • isnt only the singer black? but they are great! =]

  • WTF do you mean black rock band?

  • way cool...thanks for posting.
