...these paintings were ancient and showed the true spirit of Shaolin Boxing as it was originally transmitted to Shaolin by Bodhidharma centuries ago. So Doshin then restructured Giwamonken to place greater emphasis on these core principles, or what So Doshin called "key fighting techniques". If you see these paintings you will notice just how much Shorinji Kempo techniques, as well as the flavor of Kempo, if you will, is reflective of those paintings.
Shorinji Kempo is based on the Giwamonken (Japanese pronunciation, original Chinese I'm not sure of) style of Shaolin Boxing. So Doshin (Kempo founder) was recognized by Shaolin temple as 21st head master of Giwamonken. So Doshin was taught limited Kendo and Jujutsu in his early teens which may have influenced Shorinji Kempo but I doubt it. So Doshin was instead inspired by paintings at Shaolin temple that depicted Indian Chinese monks practicing wushu. So Doshin was convinced...
Despite its name & history (creator was a Japanese secret agent who learned Chinese Shaolin in Northeastern China), Shorinji Kempo doesn't look much like Chinese Shaolin. It looks like Karate mixed with Aikijujutsu locks, and a few Jujutsu throws added for good measure. Its core Embu drills, stances, & movement appear entirely Japanese. Nothing about its physical techniques resemble Shaolin or any other Chinese system. This is not meant to be negative; just a realistic observation.
wa letras raras k son chinos o japoneses ? pero epleando no kreo k sean muy wenos x ke c be k es aktuado y ya lo tenian practicado y ensayado cada uno donde iba a dar para berse + impresionante
@anghiric - It's difficult to speed up the kenshi performing without speeding upp the audience - this is real speed - with sound effects added by Chinese TV without permission.
I know it's real speed because I've trained with them both - have you?
@touretul Everybody know it already! Nobody says that it's not a fast foward! You are not a founder of it! It was cut from chinese documentary and the hole film under such speed! I don't know why, maybe chinese like it... Anyway these gus don't need it because they do good embu in high speed without montage!
The film isn't speeded up, watch the bottom of their robes (hois) and you'll see that they are moving naturally, if you watch it with the Hong Kong chop-sogey sound effects off it seems more natural too.
I've trained with both of these two and they are this fast.

個々の技が非常に早く、攻守の切り替えに高段者特有の無駄がない。技の精確さ、体の切れ、スピード、気合い、どれをとっても素晴らしい演武だ。
