  • very cool

  • Hey man, I have a question. I want to get a new engine for my layout. I have not bought one in like 10 years. In your opinion who makes a better loco for the price with sound?

  • dang...she's got a cool dad!

  • Good vid, you're a caring sharing man Paul.

  • Way cool Al, way cool!

    Thanks for sharing..... Gary.

  • Are those Bachman train models that you collect??

  • Now all she needs is her own purple throttle to match

  • glad to see that children are still happy, and kind people are still giving, thats wats up! and al man, u are like a track laying machine bro! ditto here, but i wont be done laying track till summer. hoping i will have enough product on my layout to do a video for the summer, cant wait for u to see what i got done, and share my vid with youtubers, and keepin it real vids such as this one only inspires me to make progress on my layout! thnks for the video!

  • What kind of sound decoder does the SD40-2 have in it?

  • @claimless The motor decoder is an NCE DA-SR with a Digitrax Soundbug sound decoder driving a 16x35 mm "Small Oval" speaker from Streamlined Backshop Services.

  • That is awesome. As many people talk about model railroading as a dying hobby it is good to see that. I hope my daughter gets excited like yours is when she gets a little older. I do enjoy watching your videos your layout is fantastic.

  • this put a smile on my face to see a young girl enjoy such a magnificent hobby :)

  • Is your Daughters new Locomotive an SD 40-2?It's a beautiful Locomotive. She's cute.Maybe you can help me with a problem I have with my layout,My trains will run the layout about 3-4 times making a complete trip around the layout then all of a sudden uncouple for no reason and always at the back of the layout.I've tried both horn hook and knuckle couplersand it always does the same thing.I want to post my layout here on you tube but not until I get the problem solved.Do you have any suggestions?

  • Shes a cool girl.

  • Gabriella loco is the best on the layout.

  • Hey Al great video. I have a 2 year old daughter and she loves trains too, which i think is really cool. Im currently working on a model railroad in my basement. Thanks for all the videos u post with tips and tricks. They are very helpful ! ! !

  • nice

  • throw a few boxcars behind it and she is ready to go.

  • man this kid is soo cool..

  • Al, some of your videos don't allow me to watch them on a mobile device

  • Very nice engine

  • Hey Al, do you know anyone that knows how to install a signal block system, I just blew all my signals LED up? Thanks for your time.

  • 2 people are total pricks!

    How can anyone dislike this?

  • that'a kind...

So nice to see her reaction when she take it off from the box

  • Hey Al nice video.Looks like she loves the train. Are the cars and trucks matchbox.

  • Aces116 and LOCOS4EV, no weathering because the female Chief Engineer of the P&W runs her loco through the wash rack every evening and waxes it every Saturday morning. She doesn't want her loco all dirty and nasty like those guy engineers. You know how women are. ;-)

  • @saxmusicmail cool

  • Al, I think you need to reduce CV's 3 and 4 a bit.

  • @saxmusicmail You are 100% correct! CV3 and 4 need to be lowered so she does not turn it up all the way and then it takes off. I actually think CV 2 is the correct one but I will look into it tonight

  • @MonsterRailroad I was thinking too much momentum, which is CV3 and CV4. Reduce those each to a value of 10 and see how that works out. They are set to 20 now. 10 should be just enough to smooth it out without her crashing into stuff.

  • that is so cool Big Al like how Gabriela said you not allowed to touch it so funny , layout is looking good ,hey you have to teach Gabriela how to weather now she has her own loco ...

    keep them excellent vid's coming

  • That is freaking AWESOME!!!

  • Cool! You can pay her to swich for you! A GREAT way to earn an allowance!!

  • Hey Big Al, great video and loved her reaction to hear that she is the owner of this Awsome SD40, she's is the boss so do not touch the locomotive. I was hoping to see you weather this unit in a future video, well maybe you could douplicate one in a "Powered" or "Dummy" unit with some heavy weathering. I have never seen a "PURPLE" unit before but that unit looks real nice. Sorry I do not have any SD40's to donate, I run SD40T-2s on my layout, keep up the great videos.

  • That is cool Big Al!

  • "Is it an SD40-2?" Nate, it is an Athearn SD40 RTR undec painted Gabriela's favorite color. I cleaned all the globs of thick grease out of the trucks, lightly oiled, got the mechanism running freely and smoothly. Decals are for P&W, local to Al and Gabriela. Soundbug. LEDs replaced the original light bulbs. LED "rotary beacon". Cal Scale brass horn. No wire ladder rungs, but did add MU hoses and plow.

  • future director of british rail there

  • Al, this is as fun as watching kids on Christmas morning. Hey, she has her own throttle, I figure she needed her own loco. "It smells great!" Hahah! And you're very welcome, Gabriela. ~ Paul

  • haha, so cute

  • I love how she takes notice of every detail! "It smells great!" Too cute Al! Is it an SD40-2?

  • That is awesome. very cool of Paul.

  • thats cool to get you Daughter involved in the hobby great video.

  • Thank you, Paul!

  • awww so cute, great to see her enjoying the hobby.

  • That is so sute I really mean it LOL Great to have your kids involved in your hobby. Cool of Paul to do that.

  • Wow thats one great engine!

  • Great to see your daughter taking an interest I wish I could get my 13 year old daughter to take an interest in my trains. Love the way the layout coming together Al can't wait for your next video upload.

  • Your daughter is cute! My grandson just turned two, he loves trains! Watching her line all of the cars up is what my grandson does with all his toys to make it into a train, lol I currently have just a small N scale layout and he will sit and watch the train go round and round for a very long time!

  • Wow..nice ....making it a family afair(trains)...perfect setting for an active imagination..most kids would love to play in that diorama....

  • Yes that was a very nice thing Paul did for Gabriela and you sure can tell she is very pleased, love it when she told you to not touch it. The scenery looks fantastic Al. Great job.

  • We know you are busy Al... But your fans demand more vids on a regular basis!!!!! lol... love ya vids man...
