the important thing for me about these scandals is whether there's hypocrisy; that's why eliot spitzer and larry craig did deserve censure; and why bill clinton and john edwards' affairs, in and of themselves, are not as bad. They didn't run on a platform of eradicating adultery. You hit the nail on the head. An affair doesn't say anything about your ability to do your political job, but it may have a huge impact on whether you get that job.

Edwards was irresponsible to run knowing news of his afair could come out and ruin him and the party. I don't approve of the tabloid nature of our news, but that's the current environment.
