One of the many class songs, by without question or doubt, the best band in the world. Life time fan from the age of 8 now 32.................. U2 forever xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I LOVE RUNNING to this song. It's phenomenal!! And yes U2, is the best band of all time!! And I'm one lucky mama cause tomorrow night in Baltimore I'll be there! WINNING! And then some.... Great video!
I LOVE RUNNING to this song. It's phenomenal!! And yes U2, is the best band of all time!! And I'm one lucky mama cause tomorrow night in Baltimore I'll be there! WINNING! And then some.... Great video!
Whenever I used to listen to this song I saw this gypsy-woman with her head twirling and eyes popping out. The stereo syncopated rhythms coupled with the soaring guitar licks sent me into FUCKING EUPHORIA. I have now found my lady and she is no gypsy; surprise surprise she is a philosophy professor.
For me, "Lady with the Spinning Head" has always been to U2's kitschy Euro 'industrial' ZOO era what "Boomerang" was to its eerie, etched Unforgettable Fire era. It was perfect for the times and deserves to one day be played LIVE. I can imagine it as a great tune with which to take the stage à la "Return of the Stingray." Whatever the case, please WATCH MORE TV!
U2 tried their best to complete this song but it ended up a B side......According to the Edge, three amazing songs came out of Lady with the spinning head........Fly......Ultraviolet light my way and zoo station.
Amaszing! The entire essence and atmosphere of the Achtung Baby album captured in this beautifull dark and moody song.. Wow.. Oh and by the way, the guy that writes "U2 wrote Miami" all the time, is a retard.
This thing just lights up and never stops...brilliant growling, rolling, twisting, turning, unrelenting song. One of their best. Actually, now that I think about it...this should have been the mid concert 360 song instead of that reworking of "I'll go crazy" which was too... too gimicky, too plastic and too unU2!
I totally get what you mean.. but i think you meant the 4:40 mark guitar intro.. classic edge.. I love it! btw.. I think zooropa is the most underated U2 song ever.
i really dont understand why this wasnt on Achtung Baby. it could of been 1 of 13 songs but there was only 12 songs on the album. It could of started off the album instead of Zoo Station or just replaced So Cruel.
It is on the album though. The bass line, some of the guitar licks, and the breakdown at the 3 minute mark are parts of The Fly. The breakdown at the 4:15 is the intro to Ultra Violet, though amped up, and the part where Edge sings "ultraviolet" multiple times on Ultraviolet is the riff from the chorus of Lady with the Spinning Head.
Funny you would say that, I was telling my wife on Sunday that the U2 strings, specifically as we were listening to this song, give me chills everytime. What a great song!
I love this song so much. Great job during Achtung Baby: Misterious Ways, The Fly, Even Better than the Real Thing... that´s ROCK&ROLL. But this song is ¡¡PURE ELECTRICITY!!
Blame American rock radio for ignoring a gem like this-you know all they do is play the same crap over and over;makes me wonder why they need a program director or whatever it's called.
The only time I ever heard this on the radio was on a Jersey alternative rock station where they imported a British radio show on a weekly basis. I assumed it would turn into a video on Mtv, once word of mouth exploded. Unfortunately, not enough Americans were listening....
I so fucking agree with you. This song is awesome. I have been a U2 fan for a long time and I am only 20. I ignored everything in Pop and Zooropa and that is my mistake, lol.
Ever heard of Passengers? You never hear a peep off that on the the radio, even though Miss Sarajevo is on it with a guest appearance by Luciano Pavarotti.Brian Eno came to U2 with bits and pieces of songs he's already started writing and U2 added to it,creating a very different sound. Many of the tracks are instrumental and not all members play on every song-one features only Eno and a Japanese singer named Holi while another is just Bono,Adam, and Howie B.One of my favorite "U2" CD's,lol.
We had the CD single of 'one' on the Juke Box in the bar at St Aidan's College , Durham back in 1992. I swear the 7" mix of 'lady...' was played at least 3 x as often as 'one'.
this must be when they were still in the zooropa and pop phase.. alot of tech like mofo. i read in U2 by U2 that this song was modified to make 3 songs i cant remenber which anyone conferm?
you will never see the diference between Flea and Adam, there are diffrent styles, but i want to see Flea playing blues as Clayton does. your stupid comment is like trying to see the differences between Larry Mulen Jr and Lars Ulrich from metallica, diferent styles boy, diferents styles. i think, with all the respect, that if there is a man that don't know about music, that is only you my man. if you know how to play something really good you just can not make stupid comments as you did.go home
Wow what amazing bass playing. Adam Clayton is soooo talented. He gets paid more per not for the 3 notes he knows how to play than anyone in the history of bass guitar.
what? i like U2 but Clayton is NOT the best bass player or most talented. In my eyes, the best bassists are John Deacon (Queen) and that Flick guy from RHCP. Clayton dont come close.
Common, I was responding to that particular bass line. I've never heard anything better. Adam Clayton is the most talented bass player maybe of all time. He is just so good. He plays with his fingers a lot. He's so much better than flea.
In terms of technical skill. Flea is better than Clayton. But Clayton has a knack for simpler basslines that just sound perfect, like this one. He's one of my faves ever, but I wouldn't say he's the best.
What! AC can play anything. Flea plays all those notes that anyone can do. But Clayton only plays root notes and doesn't know anything about musical theory or rhythm. He smokes sometimes while "playing" because he needs something to do. But that's what makes him so genius. He plays basslines a child that's been playing for a month can play....but he gets paid A LOT. Genius.
Hey, don't get me wrong here. He's my favourite bassist, maybe slightly behind Chris from Muse. I love his playing and I much prefer it to Flea's. I just said he is technically more skilled, probably due to music tuition, so respect to Clayton for not having it.
I'm a bassist myself and I can play most of what Clayton does, Flea's stuff is much much harder though. That's all I was saying.
If you're a bass player and you can't play ALL of what Clayton does, you should maybe reconsider the music thing. Calling yourself a bassplayer would mean that Clayton couldn't play ANYTHING that you play. Like in Flea's case. If you called Clayton a bass player in front of Flea, or any other accomplished bass player, they would laugh in your face.
I probably could play all of it. Some of it I just haven't tried. Thats what I mean't by most.
So we're in agreement that in terms of technical musical skill, he isn't as strong as other bassists right? But that doesn't mean I don't love his unorthadox playing style cause I really do. Thats why he's one of my faves. I don't actually like Flea, I think he's a cock.
I don't think his style is unorthodox at all. It is the opposite of unorthodox. It sounds like he never practices. In fact I KNOW he never practices, because of the way he plays. He knows only the absolute basics...pushing his finger down and making a sound. Nothing more. ANYBODY could do what he does. He is not a musician...He picks up a bass guitar and plays single notes.
No imagination, no inspiration, no creativity. Don't get me wrong though, I am extremely jealous, I wish I had his money though for doing work a 12 year old (I'm being generous) could do.
I will try to make this short, although I probably won't succeed. I have followed and worshiped U2 since 1983! I am not a regular user of Youtube, but b/c of your video, have created an account just so I can post my comments.
This song with the videos ROCKS!! Now, I will be addicted to Youtube to see/hear all that I can regarding "my" boys of Ireland... U2!! XO
