Britain and Germany are both powerful countries that share similar heritage, culture and ideals along with Scandinavia. We should be working together as independent brothers of Northern Europe to conserve those values, not exchange inaccurate insults or dragging up irrelevant history. And France didn't oppose because the UK were an "enemy" but rather because of differences in our common markets, working practices and laws than those in Europe. De Gaulle rejected the application on incompatibility, not rival, grounds (words from HIS OWN mouth). Sarkozy closened relations with, and told his LOVE for the US in 2007 (words from HIS OWN mouth). And I agree, Britain has it's own interests at heart, but so does Germany, France, US, Serbia, Kosovo, and any other country.
