  • What are the girls screaming for? It must have been the socially expected thing to do. It's like the Beatles mania clips with girls screaming until they pass out. There's some strange psychology at work.

  • Brian makes a little fart note at 0:25. Still great.

  • Did the Beatles write "There's a Place" in response to this, or was it prior or coincidental? It's said to have been written three months prior. This is a great song by Brian Wilson. Nevertheless, before long, what was going on in teens rooms was listening to the Beatles, and what was going on here, musically, got placed into the background. Some of the Beatles' music has a tinge of mockery of American music, while others are a form of flattery or mimicry. Beach Boys are pure original.

  • @rogerscottq Beach Boys were huge here after The Beatles broke, like comparing apples and oranges.

  • One of the greatest American groups.

  • When I was little I remember listening to this song in my room after I got a spanking. lol

  • EEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! A bug.

  • i love this song

  • beautiful harmony, no electronic effects...Brian Wilson's voice is so haunting.

  • this is amazing live

  • MY GOD I LOVE LOVE THIS MUSIC AND OH YES i WAS THERE FOR IT LISTENING TO MY RADIO AT NIGHT OH WHAT MEMORIES WAYNE SUTTON

  • @littlewingg how the hell is it racist?

  • gaaaa, old people: blaming the state of modern top 40 pop music on rap is not only ignorant, it's slightly racist

  • @littlewingg Old people disagreeing with a music genre, Rap in this case.... is RACISM... IS IT REALLY? HAHAH OK MATE.... I'm sure Eminem is PISSED right now. Turn your computer off and quiet yourself.

  • I am 15 and this is my favorite song!! We sang this and California girls in chorus!!;) beautiful!!;)

  • This is so so special

  • Does anyone ales notice hoee how Brian is always looking around at everyone else, checking that they are in tune and doing the harmonies right? Love it.

  • @TheFestivelights LOL !..yes..i also noticed how he had a teeny tiny slip on the bass in the intro, where the first note he played after the guitar intro was the wrong one..but after everything he's accomplished, i think he's allowed to make as many teeny tiny mistakes as he wants ! ..lol !

  • @blica1 @ 0:26! I heard it too.

  • I'm now old. The greatest consolation is that I got to experience the sixties. I struggle with comparing a generation with another. Does the mind play tricks? Am I just biased ? God, I miss this type of quality. There was such an abundance of it. My question is- Are we devolving?

  • @uleugdl i would have to agree..musically, spiritually, and humanly devolving..keep those memories brother, they come in handy when the world is shitting all over you ! i'm a child of the late 70's and early 80's, so i caught the final blow of good music, and know exactly what you mean !

  • possibly one of the great songs of all time...we were all teenagers in our room at one time. brilliant

  • I own a 1964 Fender precision bass like Brian's....I bought it August 1964 to play on the road back then..

  • @ftjax i think i'd have to kill you if you ever sell it...LOL !..just kidding brother ! ..but seriously, never, ever sell that bass guitar..it's one of a handful of sought after collectors fender basses out there !

  • @blica1 talk about taking a long mulled over period of time to consider selling it...(for 5 years I've been tempted to "e-bay" it away), but, I know that like the "golden goose" I've made enough money from it to send me through college & to play part time too. It's literally lasted me for 47 yrs. Many keyboards have come & gone but not that bass guitar. I purchased it in Sumter,SC in Aug. 1964 to travel from Columbia,SC to Syracuse, NY to play at "The Brown Jug" club. From there,SC,NC, Ga.

  • @ftjax cool..i'm a drummer by trade, and i made the stupid mistake of selling my 1971 Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl 5 piece drum kit (Same as Ringo, only a 5 pc.!) back in '98, and have regretted it ever since..saw one on ebay go for $1750 !. and i still weep for it on occasion ..LOL !

  • BRIAN WILSON IS THE KING OF ROCK 'N ROLL, ELVIS GOT NOTHING ON BW!

  • As was the vogue of the day, the Beach Boys all dressed alike.

  • I never liked those striped shirts.

  • Mr Wilson is simply the Mozart of pop!

  • 1. In the Internet Age, this song is more relevant than ever.

    2. Singing a song with this theme in front of teenage girls looking for any excuse to burst into teen idol hysteria? Hilarity

  • This is the work of genious, just an abundance of talent, superb harmonies. In my all time ' Top 20 ' best songs.

  • fucken sweet...

  • Tremendous song. And when you take into consideration how young Brian Wilson was when he came up with this stuff.......UNREAL

  • This is a pretty sophisticated tune for such young guys. It's always been one of my faves.

  • Girls screaming? I'm a music teacher, and I'm screaming too. There's never been better harmony singers in pop group. This band has insane talent.

  • @mikedonn71 and you had to tell us your a music teacher to make your comment opinion more viable???

  • @mikedonn71 Wow, thank you! My high school music teacher gushed over Debussy. Where were you in 1979? :-)

  • @mikedonn71 sorry but i dont get it. why do you have to scream? cant you just listen to them? is it like some kind of orgasm?

  • I want to be the drummer for the beach boys

  • brain was pissed when the other beach boy missed aa note look how intense he looks at him

  • The girls in this video should really consider shutting up

  • The friends series is a really decent way to find great songs. So is the soundtrack to The wonder Years. This of course would be a good exapmle

  • This is a beautiful song. Brian Wilson's daughters Carnie and Wendy Wilson sang a cover of this song as Wilson Phillips and they did a great job.

  • The best!

  • lol. Drunk Dennis had to finish it like that haha

  • Girls screaming is classy! :) This song too. And look at the audience. Classy dress, beautifully done hair. Where did this all go?

  • @lukosius1221 The screaming Isn't classy, pretty annoying really, especially when It's over such a sweet song.

  • @lukosius1221 How is it classy to scream like animal when a band is trying to play a song for everyone to hear?

  • @lukosius1221 Yeah now its all tattoos, green hair, skimpy clothes, piercings, its sad really....very sad.

  • @lukosius1221 THE CURRENT GENERATION IS NEW AND UNCOMFORTABLE TO ME, WHERE DID IT GO!!?>!?!

  • @lukosius1221 You ask "where did it all go?" It all went to (c)Rap, that's where!

  • One of Brian's stand-out earliest 'personal statement ' type of creations. A sure-fire masterpiece. His angelic falsetto is featured to perfection in this song. God the man is a unique & masterful musical talent (right, Mike Love !!).

  • Firstly I didn't like this song but after 100 odd listenings it started growing on me. And now I put In My Room at the top of the BBs' songs' league. Specially middle-8 is very touching and has the most stunning harmonies by the band. Or to go further - by every band in the world.

  • Haha Al is singing flat and Brian is looking over at him thinking WTF?????? Brian was a true perfectionist!

  • Great band, song and performance; I should rent the DVD again. And it's fine for the girls to scream; it's just hormones ! It's a unique time for them......Regards.

  • Girls screaming at concerts during a performance is completely moronic!!!

  • @brightonmusic

Put it down to immaturity, lack of self confidence and a need for attention.

  • What's with the girls abruptly screaming. I personally don't enjoy the shrill sound. Awesome sound and great video otherwise.

  • My anthem as a teenager!

  • @Delana45 RBC - I lived with an abusive father, this song helped with a lot of pain!

  • Hmm. I remember wearing clothes like that...

  • Its amazing, they sound so perfect

  • Con todos esos chillidos, ahora entiendo porque Brian Wilson quedó medio sordo jajaja.

  • "The Beach Boys" had the best harmony of any group in rock. Brian Wilson was a genius. The rest of the Wilsons were good too. Especially Carl. Mike Love complemented the band greatly, but mistreated Brian in later years. Brian was the leader and arranger. Great band. Reminds of an endless summer.

  • its funny how the beatles like them and they liked the beatles but never did there songs

  • This song, is of course awesome. I think the genius of this song is how Brian made what I think would normaly be the harmony part of the song, the melody(at least to my ear), I hope that makes sense.

  • now it's dark and i 'm alone but i won't be afraid...*** ♫

  • It was fantastic to live in the era! Memories!

  • ps: not la county fair 2011...more like 1964

  • They were good in the day I was 7. Real popular on the radio a lot/

  • Remember hearing this the first time on one of the first albums I bought in 1966, I was so moved by it's beautiful melancholic melody with perfect harmomies.Still send shivvers down my spine, the Boys at their absolute best, the Sounds Of The Sixties !.

  • @iamkuljuarenot By the way, the one in this song screwing up the most notes is that bird brain MIKE LOVE

  • @romeokid69 mike love isn't playing the guitar u fucking moron

  • @iamkuljuarenot I never said he was, ASSCLOWN. I was talking about the singing because they are ALL screwing up vocal notes. ESPECIALLY that bird brain Mike Love. I wasn't contradicting your comment. You need to take a valium or something. Calm the fuck down.

  • @romeokid69 i wasnt talking about the vocals at all dipshit go back and read the goddamn thing, they fuck up on the guitar, period. And that bird brain mike love brings together all the vocals, are you fucking retarted? Your the one getting all bent out of shape because they obviously fuck up on a couple guitar notes and i pointed it out i dont care but its just wierd. so if you take the (beach boys minus mike love's) dick out of your mouth for one second maybe you can see what i'm saying

  • @iamkuljuarenot mike love is the biggest fucking dusche in the world. He was the one who was so against all of brians amazing ideas. If he had it his way, pet sounds would have never happened and what kind of world would it be. You are the one who needs to remove the dick from your mouth dude, i really cant understand what your saying and just between the two of us, it kinda makes you look gay.

  • @benfan15009 be that as it may, the beach boys vocal harmonies wouldn't be the same without mike love, and if pet sounds didn't happen, it would still be the same world, there wouldn't be a cosmic shift

  • Comment removed

  • @romeokid69 sorry if i wasnt clear enough on the guitar notes being fucked up but apparently you are deaf

  • Great song, great band. Shame Dennis didn't sing during live performances. The harmonies were richer in the recorded version.

  • hah i like when brian looks at al and carl because they are fucking up notes

  • @iamkuljuarenot First off, think of the sound equipment's quality back then. It sucked, so it's a miracle the harmonies and playing are as good as they are. Secondly, if you think you can do better with just mics and instruments and no help from today's technology, then go ahead and post your version of the song here. I guarantee you dont have what it takes so maybe you should THINK before you post stuff like this. I am an accomplished musician and I myself find it near impossible to do justice.

  • @romeokid69 an accomplished musician, i bet, whats one of your albums, lemme look it up on amazon maybe I'll buy it, oh wait, define accomplished

  • @iamkuljuarenot Actually, as a musician, I played on albums that ARE available to purchase. They are not my albums. I am a session musician. And I NEVER said the guitars were not playing wrong notes. I did misunderstand your original comment and for that, I DO apologize, but the music, AS WELL as the vocals are all wrong in this version. The bass, the guitars and the vocals have bum notes all over this version. You CAN'T deny that.

  • ARE YOU FUCKIN KIDDIN ME ONLY 11 THOUSAND VIEWS... BOOOOOOOOOOOOO. And lady gaga has millions???????????? BOOOOOOOOOO again....

  • @godbluffvdgg This vid was up for some time...And had like million + views... ...Taken off cuz of copyright... SOOOOOOOO glad its on again. I will be saving this in a special folder away from you tube.

  • This is classic,Beach Boys.

Before Brian Wilson, suffered from Bi-Polar[manic depression]

Why do the vultures, always gather here.No abilitymand NO SENSE

  • DOPE!!!! so laid back, and melancholic!

  • girls don't scream like that anymore. It was only Beatles, Elvis, and Beach Boys. Can't do that today.

  • @bakerpb LOL, youtube justin bieber

  • @AllRamonesMusic Yes but its justified for Beatles, Elvis, BBoys, etc. They we smart, timeless and nearly everyone liked them. Bieber = somewhat annoying.
