had the good fortune of seeing him in 72 at the mariposa festival in toronto (held on the islands), got my first sniff of weed and a my first taste of real music. i was 13. saw him years later at harbourfront (also in toronto). great music is timeless, as are the musicians who create it. they have no shelf life, because terms like that don't apply.

I was there too. Half way through his performance it started to rain but that was O.K. for the audience. We all danced and grooved to Taj. That was the first time I heard him and I've enjoyed all the records that he's put out.

Great movie with Taj called "Sounder" from way back in the 70's....Check it out. Cecily Tyson stars in it, but Taj's a skinny guy and plays with Mississippi John Hurt-great flick. Always was a talent with a formal music education that many don't know
