  • Please dont get out at sea if you dont know anything about ships .....

You probably could pas him 20minutes after that on the same location.

A ship that size wont get up to 22knots in 30seconds ......

  • If you decide to pass 10 meters of his bow you are the one who is stupid. WAFI's........

Please remember for the future, if you can't see the bridge of a containership (cause of containers blocking the vieuw) the bridge team also can't see you...

Please take some more appropiate distance next time..

  • ahhh yes, I would normally agree with you 150% HOWEVER this happened when travelling THROUGH the singapore large ships anchorage .... now I dont know if you have ever been to singapore...but there are hundreds of ships anchored and you have to negotiate your way around and through them either via their stern or bow...you have no choice at all...hence our close proximity. there was two of us on constant watch the entire 9 hours this took.

  • before a ship that size has heaved up anchor it will take at leats 10 to 15 minutes from start heaving up to anchore at home, and from then ik take also quite a while before the ship is doing 20 knots, so no problem dont worry!

  • its a ship we had JUST crossed extremely close to the bow, when he started washing the anchor down just as we were crossing (approx 10 metres off his bow) then realised he was pulling his anchor UP which means he moving forward rather rapidly! this was in the very busy shipping anchorage of singapore. Too close for comfort that near miss was..the old heart was beating rather rapidly as we only do 5knots an hour, they do about 20!!!!!

  • That is what I call bad seamanship - not from the "Pacific Aquarius" but from the "not-so-skilled" passing another vessel at a much too short distance.

    Irresponsible amateur!!!

  • Usually I would agree with you..however this was when travelling through and negotiating our way around hundreds of ships in the singapore shipping anchorage...you have no choice. two of us were on watch the entire 9 hours this trip took..that is how large the anchorages are!

  • wtf is tht

  • wait what...lol
