  • Miss you Layne & Mike Rest in Love in Heaven "Keep Jamming Up there"

  • if God existed he would be mute because chris cornell and layne would have his vocal chords!!!!!!1

  • best unplugged set ever ( LAYNE ROCKS ) rip my friend

  • Yeah, and i also miss the singer from Mother Love Bone Andy ??? i dont rember the whole name sorry

  • @FinSituation Wood. Andy Wood. I miss him, too, as well as Layne and Kurt! ;(

  • No this is what Layne said of Kurt

Kurt and I weren't the closest of friends, but I knew him well enough to be devastated by his death. For such a quiet person, he was so excited about having a child.

I saw all the suffering that Kurt Cobain went through. I didn't know him real well, but I just saw this real vibrant person turn into a real shy, timid, withdrawn, introverted person who could hardly get a hello out.

  • Merry Xmas to Layne and Mike , wherever your souls may drift!!

  • Genios!!

  • And to this day I wonder how Drake, a talentless prick, has had more fame than these guys. Makes me sick...

  • @theamazingipodpro whose drake

  • Everytime i am some where and i hear Layne voice singing it always makes me think how much i miss him and how talented he was and it is sad because i hope for his sake he knew how highly people thought of him........We still love you Layne RIP.

  • This performance still gives me a tear when I think of how high they were, and the end was so close, the low would follow and dig a tench so deep we still can't dig our way out. Man the talent lost is still tragic! .R.I.P.

  • Only a Few bands can perform like this, straight up...

  • i read that too but he walk out of his life around 7 or 8 years old. I don't know but, i did read an article about this so i guess we will never know!!!!!!!!!!!!Still thinking of you Layne

  • I heard that this song is about when Layne's father use to sit him on a chair when he didn't listen to his father..............Does anyone know if that's true!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP Layne i still love you and i know that your in peace...................

  • @13demarie This song is about his heroin addiction... i don't know whether what you were told is true or not because his father walked out on him at a young age and didn't see him till he was alot older.

  • I remember when I first started listening to Alice in Chains back around 2008 (my years in middle school), starting mostly with "Unplugged". In this, it was quite refreshing to see the lead singer play guitar-- even if he was visibly weak and stuff, you can really see/hear how he tried his best, with both the guitar-playing & singing. ^^

  • Laynes playing guitar :D

  • Yep Nutshell is the best but Layne is the greatest vocalist ever with Robert Plant, and that aint bad company!!

  • one of the greatest voices ever...

  • He looks so sick here :( I watched this as a teenager on MTV and never noticed.

  • My favorite AIC song!!!

Layne Staley... I actually miss so much..

The only person who od'd that I really feel for...

Cause normally I don't really pity people who do drugs,

but he was an amazing vocalist :( One of my favorites...

Too bad he wasted his talent on it :/

  • What the hell is that ass on the right doing here anyway??? not that i mind, but it's still odd... :D

  • if i remember right Layne introduced kurt into heroin such a waste of talent

  • watching a band unplugged is the only way i judge a band worth listening to anymore. tool is the only band left from my childhood that is still active and would pay to see. pearl jam, stp, nirvana, AiC,soundgarden, RatM, and a few others are amazing. i know pearl jam still plays concerts but they lost my respect. i would much rather see them in the 90's.

  • The most trippy thing ever is to listen to this version WHILE listening to the studio version in iTunes.

If you can get the synchronization just right its well weird 'n trippy.

  • Alice in Chain the shit plain and simple and this song is my second favorite cuz I'd have to say nutshell topped this one

  • every unplugged song they did that night and given Layne's health and addiction at that point, gives me chills how they nailed every song and gave them their each lil twist with some songs...R.I.P L.S., forever missed and one of the best vocalist of all time will never be forgotten from generation to generation..my 5 yr old loves them too! :)

  • @kornkid3106 definitely agree with that!!!

    Awesome vocals!!

  • Why are you calling yourself fckrocknroll?

  • loneliness is not a phase.

field of hate is where i graze.

  • @5stringdropout i think this is how jerry is feeling about the death of layne. he looks like he's fourty years older now.

  • what do i see across the way?

    hey.

  • , i love his style, FUCK tomorrow i'm going to buy a chain

  • Alice in Chains is the best! I never heard a band with such sensitivity. Layne left his mark on all who lived through the grunge decade. How could he put into words and music so much suffering? I never stopped listening.

  • how do I loop this video? I've Chris Brown'd the replay button.

  • @jizzle313 Not funny, sorry

  • Corporate prison we stay. Fuck the drug war.

  • Their voices fit so well together..great performance...

  • I crying when I see how magnificent was MTV in the 90'es, sometimes I wish only becouse of that to be 10-12 years older too see live such fucking bands like AIC Pearl Jam, Nirvana, RHCP, RATM and many many others

  • It reminds me of how MTV was the best music channel in the world ,those were the good times....and not the shitty programs that we see now !!

  • It's funny to read all the comments on who was what and who was better then who...plain fact, they all rocked our faces off and we wish they could be here today like in 1992...

  • 2 star wanted level???

  • Jerry and Layne had such perfect harmonies, so rare to find to voices that fit so well together...

  • i love unpluggged version than studio version.

  • @annam0llyy me neither

  • nirvana is the shame of grunge, in comparison with aic, soundgarden, pearl jam, STP, screaming trees.

  • @trujogrunge STP is not grunge and pearl jam fucking blows. Nirvana IS "Grunge"!!!

  • @lakerman89 i like stp and pearl jam,but they deff cant compare to alice in chains(:

  • @lakerman89 early stp was grunge but were missing the most talented singer and songwriter Chris Cornell in soundgarden. (warning dont listen to chris cornell newer shit.)

  • @lakerman89 Nirvana is hardcore punk, Pearl Jam and STP are rock, Soundgarden is alternative metal, like AiC grunge doesn't exist, it's a commercial term used by the media to label a bunch of bands from seattle

  • @MartyFriedmanRulez66,That's true because even these bands don't even consider themselves Grunge.

  • @lakerman89 agreed pearl jam is fuckin horrible

  • @lakerman89 lakerman go jump in the lake. bty the Lakers suck. You need to watch Hockey :)

  • @W78516 lakers was my high school team name, Kobe is a rapist and hockey is the greatest sport on the planet!

  • Comment removed

  • @lakerman89 Well than....Hi. Go Lakers and Pearl Jam doesn't suck :)

  • 24 people don't have a taste in music

  • Even though I love Kurt and Layne for their musical talents, but they both died in the most stupidest ways.

  • "Yeah we are all good friends, there ain't no need to fall out.we enjoy watching eachs

others bands play and jam together. Layne has a massive talent...I know, i dont have

much of a voice...but fuck that man can sing"

-Kurt Cobain commiting on Layne Staley's talent.

"Lies are always being said but we are not enemies, we are good friends"

-Kurt Cobain on friendship with Layne Staley.

  • @bloodtearsej Where did you found that? Can you give me a link with that info? would really appreciate it.

  • @csmzcs it was on Seattle newpaper site where it shows old interviews, i cant remember where now as it was ages ago when i came across it, but i copied it on to my com what he said.... its alway where i found the whole part of what Layne sais about Kurts death..

  • @bloodtearsej Interesting quote. I've never read that before.

Layne said in '95 that he never really knew Kurt that well. I guess they had a mutual bond.

Also, Kurt was a much better singer than he ever got credit for. Much better singer than songwriter.

  • @DoubleTalkingJive haha i was gonna say: maybe they got to know each other after '95, but then i was like "oh right..."

  • @bloodtearsej EXACTLY!! NUFF SAID

  • @bloodtearsej I think it's funny how I'm pretty sure Metallica and Nirvana have some small rivalry (or maybe metallica just payed them out once or twice, dont know) and Nirvana have rivalry with Guns N Roses, Guns n Roses have rivalry with Metallica who also have rivalry with Alice in Chains... haha.

  • "Kurt and I weren't the closest of

friends, but we ran in to each other at shows and hung out. I knew him

well enough to be devastated by his death. I just don't understand at

all. The last time I saw him, he gave me a ride from QFC on Broadway to

a friend's house, the whole way there,

  • ........which was about a fifteen minute

drive, he talked about his daughter. For such a quiet person, he was so

excited about having a child, he really loved that little girl. Then about a

month later I saw on the news... [long pause] that he was dead".

    -Layne Staley

  • Also hate people think Kurt and Layne were enemies, They werent. Thinking about it, i think everyone got along and jammed together. ....

  • Same goes for Sound Garden,Pearl Jam,Mother Love Bone ect ect.. I love them the same.

  • I hate the fate.. ive been told i cant like Nirvana and Alice In chains.. I have to like one and not the other. HELL. I love Kurt.. Love Layne. Nirvana , Alice In Chains just the same, no more no less.their talent is just the same in different beautiful ways. miss them both deeply. If you like Alice In Chains and not Nirvana or Nirvana and not Alice In Chains, then thats your right to, dont slate another person because they like a band you dont.just go on in your own way and enjoy the music.

  • That guitar has no idea.....RIP Layne always missed, never ever FORGOTTEN........

  • HAPPY BDAY LAYNE WE MISS U!!! HE WOULD VE BEEN 43 :(

  • @88culebra I GUESS 44

  • @88culebra Excellent guess ! 44 is correct. Layne was born Aug 22, 1967

  • Happy Birthday Layne. You will truly be missed till the end of time. RIP my friend.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAYNE! YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN 45 TODAY! WE MISS AND LOVE YOU... WONDER WHY HE IS LOOKING DOWN THE WHOLE TIME AND NOT REALLY LOOKING UP MUCH?

  • Happy birthday Layne! We love and miss you so much!!! R.I.P.

  • Tomorrow is layne´s birthday! We love you, Layne!!! R.I.P. and have fun!

  • all these people our fucking lucky that when they grew up stuff like this was on MTV. now all it is jersey shore and reality shit. i really hate this generation for being so fucking ignorant

  • This IS the best Unplugged ever. Just fucking magical. Beautiful.

  • -sniffle- He "forgot" the aaa parts XD I love when he does that c: hehe x3

  • I dont understand why people have to keep saying bad things about Kurt/Nirvana. Both AIC and Nirvana were hardworking bands that didn't sell out and played music that they took pride in, Kurt helped smaller unrecognized bands get discovered. Why people have to talk bad about somebody because they wern't the best at something is beyond me. Layne even said that he was devistated by Kurts death.

  • This is just amazing... IMO the best unplugged ever...

The only sad thing about it, is that Layne just disappeared after it... six years later he was dead... go to hell, heroin, RIP Layne

  • Lyane feed me with inspiration

i have a band and we take lots of inspiration from aic

check our new song on youtube

    Inreverse - Cycles

    drop your comments (-:

  • Melhores acustico que assiste na minha vida foi do nirvana , alice in chains , legiao urbana e cassia eller ... Grunge is not dead

  • quit trolling...music is all about what it does fot/to you...if you have to break it down into comparitives you kind of miss the point

  • Good performance but it's the weakest song on 'Dirt' if you ask me.

  • @reinforcedpenisstem id have to say the weakest song on dirt was either damn that river or that one that isnt even a song its called like dream sequece or somthing ( thats what it says on my cd).....but thats just my opinion

  • @mrguitarman151 Im pretty sure the song you are thinking of is Iron Gland

  • @yoyojumpy yeah thats it but for some reason it says that on itunes and somthing else when i put the accual cd in the computer.. i would have rather what the hell have i to be on dirt than that or damn that river...

  • am i the only person who would sell their firstborne's soul to the devil to have layne back for 1 night?

  • I would sell my balls to have layne back

  • Let's kill the remaining members of AIC and then kill ourselves. We'll have a sick fucking concert in the afterlife. That would be better than missing Layne and Mike.

  • They really need to bring this series back, but unfortunately there are too many bands who could never pull this off because they simply aren't talented enough.

  • @336kgf They still run the series. I don't know if they air it, but you can watch it on MTV's website. It's just not the same though.

  • @dan0sx I actually have this one on DVD. Just haven't watched it yet. Been kind of lazy about it.

  • @336kgf WATCH IT, DAMMIT! ;)

  • @jugheadmcanus HAHA-I knew you would say that.

  • omg this is unplugged and i sound just like the original so much talent love you guys r.i.p layne

  • layne on guitar......awww yea

  • this deserves over 9 million likes !

  • Layne was so fuckin cool man...

  • best fucking band of all time

  • Epic on too many levels to list.

  • Layne was a fucking god!!!!

  • nirvana was so over rated cantrell and stalley would own lyricly and melodicly

  • Easily rivals Nirvana

  • @Blackmetal9000 this massacres nirvana haha. Seriously kurt was a pop sensation whereas these guys are hard rock gods.

  • Godamn what a great song, and so good live and unplugged. AIC is one of the greatest bands ever.

  • I'm so glad they did this unplugged. It sounds great.

  • Cool seeing Layne playing guitar.

  • Amazing. God I love AIC.

  • I don't know if anyone or any band could ever have a better acoustic set. This performance was flawless.

  • stomach hurts and i don't care... like notes from the underground...

  • "Loneliness is not a phase". Why can't people understand that?

  • 22 people burn on the angry chair

  • If there are two bands that I could listen to 'til I die, it would be AIC and Faith No More.

  • @cmrnmcld I second that.

  • @dnabb28 thank you.

  • That chick on the far left playing guitar is the sexiest member of AIC so hot they dont put her on stage when they play live but she thought Jerry all he knows in guitar, I`d tap that. (its either a woman or an extremely femenine chuby guy).

  • @jair333 That's Scotty Olsen

  • @jizzle313 then scratch what i said.

  • 22 people like to suck a dick

  • It seems to me, most if not all...Great Legendary, Influential Rock musicians were on drugs or on a specific drug in their off-time, which ideally help them to create or mould their music OR used the drug as a kind of barrier to the truth .The only problem I see with this is it always seems to be chemical/ man-made drugs. The honest and hard cold fact with those type of drugs are either you quit and be depressed forever or use them be in a euphoric state all the time and wait for the inevitable.

  • @SouthSwisha well put

  • @SouthSwisha well put

  • Alice In Chains died in 2002

  • Comment removed

  • @BlackT0othGrin They lived again when i played this song...

  • @Fumes1989 win

  • LARAJA!!

  • just as heavy as the original. spanktastic.

  • Kurt Cobain had little talent..Oh no, even better NIRVANA had little talent?? Dude, its not all about how many freakin notes u can play per second, its about WRITING music that has an ability to touch people, to move people, and its undeniable that both Nirvana AND AIC had those qualities. Kurt is one of the most important and talented songwriters to come along in the entire 20th century

  • @dnabb28 dude get out of here with the kurt bullshit. I liked nirvana when I was 11 years old. He's really simple punk with some poppy ass melodies. This is a badass heavy metal band. Jerry cantrell will shit on kurt's playing. and as for layne's vox versus kurts well....... if you can't tell who's better you need to grow ears.

  • @sniperkneupper you realize that most likely jerry and kurt were really good friends

  • @darkage117 that has nothing to do with what I said. I mean jerry's ability to play the guitar is FAR greater than kurt's.

  • @sniperkneupper The reason for that is that Kurt learned a few songs then started writing his own music, Jerry took lessons.

  • @dnabb28 wot u mean NIRVANA? kurt wasn't a shredder so y you say not all about how many notes you play?

  • @dnabb28 well said... couldnt of said in better myslef

  • @dnabb28 i am so sick of seeing you people put nirvana in the same catergory as aic its a joke just like nirvana was ! im srry but not 1 of thier songs made me feel 1 way or another there where many bands far more talented......now aic on the other hand was the best of all time layne was one of a kind...like an angel on earth..i listen to them daily and have for 20 years now and it never gets old and they are the ONLY band i can say that about

  • 22 people are fucking retarded!!!! You have to be a complete douche bag to not like Alice in Chains. Quite frankly there is not one band past or present that can compare to how awesome AIC was and still is.

  • This song was actually wrote by Layne 'cause his father used him to do drugs.Sad.

  • @megz09rox what do you mean his dad "used him to do drugs"?

  • I would've loved to hear what Grind sounded like unplugged.

  • alice in chains beats nirvana on pretty much everything save for bleach.... still love nirvana though

  • @surfacing731 it's all about personal preference and i personally like alice in chains.

  • Honestly i never got nirvana. Its definitely not dark enough for me. AIC \M/

  • LAYNE WAS THE KID MORE HANDSOME OF ALL ROCK AND ROLL!

  • i love that band!! its fucking best band in the whole world!!!!! LOVE THEM!!!

    RIP Layne!!! <3

  • Alice In Chains is one of my favorite bands, behind Nirvana of course. I just really love their music. Layne and Jerry have both made a huge impact on me.

And as a fledgeling acoustic artist myself, I would really appreciate if you could just take a few minutes out of your day to watch an original or two of mine. And hey, if you like it, feel free to subscribe. Maybe you will hear the Layne influence? Thanks.

  • @JuggaloFaygoDrinker how can u even compare nirvana to AIC nirvana sucks

  • @RIPdimeRIP101

Well, that is just your opinion. But in my mind, Nirvana is above Alice In Chains. I still love AIC though.

  • @JuggaloFaygoDrinker yep its all good...no disrespect to nirvana

  • @JuggaloFaygoDrinker I am not saying Nirvana was a bad band, I own all of their CD's.. but I can only find a few really good songs. I believe Nirvana is overrated, mostly because of Kurt's suicide. But Alice in Chains.. I mean damn.. you can make a fully packed greatest hits album out of these guys. Nearly every song these guys put out back then was epic. Layne was a god among men, his voice unmatched, now and forever more.

  • @studdpuppy85

I don't know, I just dig the Nirvana sound a little more. This is mainly because it was more experimental, and I admire that.

  • @JuggaloFaygoDrinker Nirvana's music is nothing but a bunch of power cords on the guitar. Staley has more talent in his dead finger than Kurt Cobain ever had. No offense just speaking truth as a musician myself. Love both bands but the difference speaks for itself throught the music. AIC has talent you just can't teach and Nirvana was a simple band from Seattle.

  • @MrJakethetruth

Kurt had plenty of talent. I don't know what you are talking about. Listen to In Utero.

  • @JuggaloFaygoDrinker Again power cords man. I have all Nirvana albums as well as all AIC albums as I grew up in that era. It goes without saying when campared Nirvana had little talent and made it sound good.

  • @MrJakethetruth You obviously have no idea what your talking about. Just because they didn't have the most complex riffs and the fastest solos doesn't mean they have little talent. They made music that sounds good, and if they had little talent, i'd love to see you accomplish half of what they did.

  • q banda tan pailaaaaaaa

  • I was born on that day.

  • Friends don't let friends get friends haircuts

  • @1979TheBand damn straight brother

  • 1st song i learned on drums. A classic.

  • Probably the best unplugged ever, AIC are fucking amazing.

  • twistedcross in truly twisted like a twist tie on a garbage bag.

  • come on do ppl always have to dis on other musicians

  • R.I.P. Layne, 9 years today.... We miss you

  • Perfectly in-tune? How bout not even remotely in-tune. Shitty, shitty "musician". I'm glad Grohl came in and turned them into a band that was bearable to listen to.

  • @twistedcross - Finally man, Nirvana I think was one of the lesser talents on the Grunge Scene, Kurt just drew attention with his lost boy look.

  • THIS IS THE BEST! MOTHERFUCKERS!

  • All u ppl that said Dave bought greatness to nirvana should shut up Dave didn't wrote the songs Kurt did

  • He's a legend because that's what the news and magazines told you to think. If you took a person who lived in a cave their whole life, and let them listen to "pre-Dave" Nirvana, they'd tell you the music completely sucked hairy man-ass. You are a product of the entertainment industry propaganda machine. Grats!
