You lower your upload speed its going to kill your download speed on any respectable torrent host. Drop it to 8kps on the upload your going to see 20kps download speeds.. Open it up full and you will see full download speeds (seeders / leechers respectively).

then you still have memory and cpu being used when referenceing the information on the nic, then relay it over to your video.. again RAM and system speed still determine the main influences of lag..load..

I've fighted 13 hours of trying massive ways to get my game connection works fully. Steam: "Steam id PENDING and kicked by console" while at LAN games. Steam cannot get server list and none of internet games loads up on server list.

@emergence999 It would help overall since the network traffic is being offloaded, but the biggest boost you'll see is in game mode with UDP traffic. This is why most KillerNIC tests show FPS's which use UDP for the most part.

Firstly, FNA Torrent can't POSSIBLY be taking 0% CPU usage. It's running, and it has to be delivered to Windows at some point - how else would Windows be able to show you what's going on in it, and let you control it?

Next: You say that KillerNIC allows you to download torrents while gaming, but you still have to limit bandwidth. This is no different to using any other NIC.

Finally, your KillerNIC will not control what other users of your Internet connection are doing. If they decide to max out the downstream, your KillerNIC won't save you from that.

QoS needs to be done on your router/gateway and at the other end of your low-throughput Internet connection by your ISP -- not your computer.

@ukAdamR You're technically right, but while I also think this is a useless product I have to say that It's able to take off some cpu work on itself because the CPU on the killer is handling the whole buffer of data you're getting when you downloading torrents and the only program windows is running is the control application for the board. This would be more useful if one has a high speed internet connection like fiber-optics.

Not to mention that with quad+ core processors around, and hardly any game making use of more than 1 core properly, the KillerNIC is only lifting a small amount of work off the CPU that really didn't need off-lifting in the first place.

You'd have to have some really fast optical connection way beyond 100Gbps to get a noticeable difference from a NIC with it's own CPU.

I can still watch HD videos fine and game online fine with no lag. A normal NIC card would easily be on it's knees. This card is best hooked up to fiber line to see it really stand out.

The fix on this is that they can trick gamers into thinking that network utilization takes a large amount of CPU time, when the problem typically has more to do with bandwidth. Big laugh at their website where it talks about a 30% jump in framerate with only 2ms improvement in ping on Counter-strike!

Cpu usage does cause lag, as can any bottleneck, this may not be needed for every pc but it was a good tutorial and well conducted using very clear precise instructions. Yes you can still use the NIC for normal windows networking its just that this card can offload the work from the CPU.

And Zezi111 azureus is much more feature rich then the fna system but that doesn't support the killer nic directly so you would have to be using windows and windows HD to download the torrents so u would notice a degradation in gaming due to the constant hard drive activity that you wouldn't notice if use the FNA system which run virtually independent of windows.
