You lower your upload speed its going to kill your download speed on any respectable torrent host. Drop it to 8kps on the upload your going to see 20kps download speeds.. Open it up full and you will see full download speeds (seeders / leechers respectively).
This might work for a song - try a 23 gig download.
since the killer has a usb port dose that mean i can connect a external hd and have it dump it directly so i can scan the hd off my pc keeping my pc safe of viruses
@mike081283 no.. the drive has a letter on the PC, its just a USB slot - not separate from the computer so Viri and Malware are able to get it or infect the computer from the drive.
network load..will create lag..and spikes..depending on what action is going on..
then you still have memory and cpu being used when referenceing the information on the nic, then relay it over to your video.. again RAM and system speed still determine the main influences of lag..load..
simply having a HD sitting idle not even fully utilized.. will allow the linux system on the card to cache info and act as ram to a certain extent... it's a great idea.. and worthy of some tweaking
I can download as much sh*t as I want and play games simultaneously without getting any reduction in performance/ping with my crappy integrated NIC. Must be magic.
I use my mobo's NIC and I torrent and play game simultaneously, and I never lag. I am on a router and other PC's are al using my web connection. Lag is server side, not your ISP folks.
I've fighted 13 hours of trying massive ways to get my game connection works fully. Steam: "Steam id PENDING and kicked by console" while at LAN games. Steam cannot get server list and none of internet games loads up on server list.
Browsing up all settings of modem/router box and everything is ok in there and firewall, every OS settings os properly etc.
After 13 hours I uninstalled Killernic drivers, shut down my PC and removed Killernic network adapter,
Is the test that showed maybe 19 fps increase WoW on a lowend computer true.Maybe its for me.With lowend I do mean pentium 3-4 and amd athlonxp cpus based computers. Well in ut2004 i would get 80 fps then in middle of a map where it lags most- with most i get 50 fps now with a ati850xt card a pretty low settings .80 to 50 is a drop especially in a fast game like instagib and your mousefeling get's fucked up due to have move it more and then in base its again faster-sucks
@emergence999 It would help overall since the network traffic is being offloaded, but the biggest boost you'll see is in game mode with UDP traffic. This is why most KillerNIC tests show FPS's which use UDP for the most part.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this video prove to us that the KillerNIC is a total waste of money?
Firstly, FNA Torrent can't POSSIBLY be taking 0% CPU usage. It's running, and it has to be delivered to Windows at some point - how else would Windows be able to show you what's going on in it, and let you control it?
Next: You say that KillerNIC allows you to download torrents while gaming, but you still have to limit bandwidth. This is no different to using any other NIC.
Finally, your KillerNIC will not control what other users of your Internet connection are doing. If they decide to max out the downstream, your KillerNIC won't save you from that.
QoS needs to be done on your router/gateway and at the other end of your low-throughput Internet connection by your ISP -- not your computer.
@ukAdamR You're technically right, but while I also think this is a useless product I have to say that It's able to take off some cpu work on itself because the CPU on the killer is handling the whole buffer of data you're getting when you downloading torrents and the only program windows is running is the control application for the board. This would be more useful if one has a high speed internet connection like fiber-optics.
@CybuhDork True, but still, such overhead is so minute it really won't effect whatever game you'd be playing at the same time.
Not to mention that with quad+ core processors around, and hardly any game making use of more than 1 core properly, the KillerNIC is only lifting a small amount of work off the CPU that really didn't need off-lifting in the first place.
You'd have to have some really fast optical connection way beyond 100Gbps to get a noticeable difference from a NIC with it's own CPU.
@ukAdamR Your stupid. How does a GPU take all the graphical stuff away from the cpu? Windows has to read it some time.
But this card is a waste of money if you don't download alot. As for me, I always have 20-30 movies on download which is alot of connections to handle. I can still watch HD videos fine and game online fine with no lag. A normal NIC card would easily be on it's knees. This card is best hooked up to fiber line to see it really stand out.
Oh, also, every sensible torrent client has an option to adjust how much up/down bandwidth is allocated. You dont need to pay anything for these features.
These things have about nothing to do with their card.
A lot of the propaganda behind this card has to do with unloading network usage from the CPU, so technically there is some logic to this, but it's VERY LITTLE. The fix on this is that they can trick gamers into thinking that network utilization takes a large amount of CPU time, when the problem typically has more to do with bandwidth. Big laugh at their website where it talks about a 30% jump in framerate with only 2ms improvement in ping on Counter-strike!
Well, you actually can download when you play. You just have to have a QOS system or bandwidth limits in place. But you you don't need a killer NIC for that at all.
They need to show the advantages of the nic. They are showing 0 cpu utilization from the torrents, and that you can offload your torrents to your killer nic. I mean it's good for those without a spare machine to setup for torrents.
i didn't have a problem, but that might be because i mounted my tmp folder as ram so flash video's load to ram and not the HDD. I am running Linux so Idk how to do it in windows.
not really because it has its own onboard CPU and its a network card, unless ur s erious online gamer and thats all you do is play online than yeah considering its using online it wil affect gaming, but if you playing single placer, than no it wont cause iots using its own CPU etc.
No it doesn't you idiot. It uses the same protocol. FNA Torrent has been written specifically to use the Killer NIC hardware. uTorrent won't do that. Now stop calling people noobs if you're worse than them.
OMG.. This guy talks such rubbish!.. so if someone had a 256kbps connection they could download and upload and still game!?.. it isnt about the CPU usage when downloading torrents unless you have a constant 100mbps download witch not many people have. Its to do with your connection speed. Lets just hope this guy lives in sweden were pirate material IS LEGAL!
1. Not all torrents are illegal, idiot. go to the main bit torrent site, its 100% legal downloads of movie trailers, game demos, etc
2. CPU usage does get pegged when trying to multitask torrents and games, this eliminates the CPU bottle neck in that scenario. if you have a crap internet connection, thats another issue entirely that your whining about that has nothing to do with what is being shown
As said above by omni, Torrent's are legal, pirated contents is illegal.

Ok one second. TORRENTS ARE NOT **ALL** ILEGAL!, many companys allow consumers to share there software via p2p so they dont have to set up there own servers. Ok i admit most people which use torrent and p2p services are most likely downloading ileagly. But ALOT of software out there is mainly Shareware anyway.
in fact, go to the bit torrent home site, thousands of legal torrents to download, not one illegal torrent on the entire site
and obviously there are cuts in the video, he was trying to show you how easy the torrent program was to use, there was no claim about making the game load faster so why should you sit there watching it load?
lol would be magnificent, and reason for me to go out and buy one IF, that was true, i think this dude is full of shit, that last torrent is like 1MB and the rest arn't even starting, I can do that with my Acer Aspire from 2 years ago
wow this guy is selling the fact that he downloads/uploads pirated data....and playing games while using the "killer nic" how wonderful...i could do the same shit without the killer nic...should i make a video of that? and i dont limit my uploads to 40kbps i actually let them go up to 150-200 while playing CS:source....WITHOUT a killer nic aww how cute ;)
I did download the "Cabela's 4x4 Offroad Adventure III" game for my laptop it is a video game i got that game installed but when i go and play the game it say please installed the cd "Cabela's 4x4 Offroad Adventure III"game can you please help me out.
but did you know that I can do exacly the same with a regular network card.
And you know why, cause you don't need to offload network processing off the CPU, cause network processing won't even take a single % of the CPU's time.
Anyway, I know that you can transmit 4-5MBit through 486 type CPU clocked at 33MHz, acting as a router. That means send and recive some 600kb/s at the same time with a CPU that is more than 100x slower than what we use now.
FN really needs some added options, like decentralization awareness and real-time progress reports. Until it can do all the things a normal BT client can, such as uTorrent, I won't be interested in the Killer NIC.
