Gary Dourdan became the center of a real life investigation after being caught with heroin, cocaine and ecstasy in 2007. CSI Catherine Willows would not approve!
In regards to this question it is my understanding that Dourdan did not renew his contract, so that is why "Warrick" was on a downward spiral that lasted several episodes and then killed. If "Warricks" death had been the result of Dourdans drug arrest it probably woulda gone down more suddenly episodewise like Michael Delorenzo's "Torres" on NY Undercover who was allegedly fired for high salary demands.
Duo to personal problems, the time he needs to get better aquires most of his time that is why he is leaving the show, that and the show is i think coming to an end with grissom(dont know his real name) also leaving
