  • I've got one of these and it's EASY to manipulate the numbers if you don't have it set up right. even if you do have it set up right, you are only driving 47mph avg! you're going to get good mileage anyways. I drove through Yellowstone at 35 mph (That's speed limit there) and was getting 42-45mpg. The cover helps very very very little

  • Sure you calibrated your SG correctly?

  • Dave: from one Alabama Boy to another , are you telling me you got 28 mpg with a new model Taco with 4wd ? Tim , Monroeville, AL

  • I purchased the Tonneau bacuase I needed a bed cover and there was the possibility of increased MPG. With my scanguage I was able to calculate the MPG of various trips I make around OKC. On My commute to work (about 15miles, 90% HWY) I maxed out at 24.5MPG (this is w/o any wind assistance). Now with the tonneau cover I have been getting 26mpg on the same 15miles. The MPG has also improved on the drive home.

  • With the addition of a tonneau cover, thinner tires and experimenting with fuel/oil additives I hope to increase my combined MPG to 22!!

  • i dont think a tonneau cover will help that much

  • When you add a turbo to the 6.2L (Banks Power offers one) the MPG goes up because the engine does not have to work as hard to accelerate or maintain speed. I was dissapointed when the big truck makers all put their 1/2 diesels on hold. Regarding city driving, it is amazing what kind of MPG you can get when you find your trucks "sweet spot." At a constant 35-40MPH my 2006 Silverado can get 30MPG. With smart driving and some hypermiling I was able to go from 17.2MPG (combined) to 20MPG+.

  • Highpower numbers are crazy but It is possible. There is alot of potential for great MPG in diesel engines backed with manual transmissions. Go back and look at the 6.2Liter diesel offered in GM trucks. Using the new EPA standards the 6.2liter (from 1992) got 16CIty and 22HWY. When you look at the old testing standard (before 2006) the 6.2L was rated at 20City and 25HWY. By driving smart and using some hypermiling techniques you can easily surpass the 20City/25HWY.

  • pathetic!!!

    I have a 05 Dodge 3500 diesel dually 6speed and city i can get 27.7 or 25 average

  • i forgot to add

long bed, crew cab with brush guard and towing packages (hitch and 5th wheel)

just me and an empty truck but full tank 35gallons

  • and its stock with nerf bars

so twice the truck but only .4mpg less

  • 27 City in a 3500 HD diesel? Keep dreaming. That's like saying my grandmother is faster than Jim Hines.

  • not an HD, cummins turbo diesel, only people that are jealous question it, not to you in specific but sorry ur lil car gets worse miliage then my big ole truck

  • You spelled mileage wrong and you have no idea what the hell you are talking about and/or you're an idiot. HD Diesel trucks don't do 27 even in the highway. Come back when you know what the hell you are talking about.

  • sorry your crying about how bad you POS is on gas, i get 35 when i cruise so suck on that bitch, that is of course when you get done crying, when you grow some balls and can accept you drive a POS come back and ill tell you how a real man drives a real truck

  • Lol. Not even you believe that your diesel truck does 35. Get a life and stop dreaming.

  • acually i get 37 when i cruise at solid 40-45 so really suck it, and where did i sa i dont get that? nowhere stop makin shit up, grow up and get a real truck

o yeah when i idle in first gear at about 3mph or so in 6-8inches of water i get about 11mpg, so really suck it

  • Lol, okay. Whatever you say, man.

  • that's a diesel

  • and its twice the truck with a 3k redline

  • those things are always soo wrong lol if u want your real mpg you gotta do it by hand

  • 28 mpg rolling on nuetrol?

  • Aye there is no way your gonna average 25-28 with a 4.0 Toyota V6. If you drive one way downhill maybe lol. Sorry but you need a 4 cyl Taco if you want 25+ hwy.

  • well yeah id get that much milage too using 2.4 gallons of gas

  • Mine gets about 25 when I drive easy. I put

Q horsepower 5w-30 in it. It really makes a noticeable difference in engine drag. It feels

stronger now. I had an idea to use a universal

piggyback ems to kill two cylinders for city driving.

  • nice mileage. i dont think its right but oh well

  • what's wrong with going for Castrol Syntec??

  • TOYOTA

  • Nice scanguage. Love those things...nice mpg as well

  • Nifty

I gotta pick one up for my truck now

  • I have the same model that I was told was fully loaded for 06...that OBC isn't an option, is it? After-market?

  • that on option

  • Um, doing what, 12 MPH?

  • 47mph average

  • if only mine could get mileage like that

  • Ok, could you give an explanation?

  • how?
