@edwardschristopherj If you will only play for flying then FSX but for combat flying get a combat simulator this really isn't a flight only type of game.
@edwardschristopherj Totally bullshit what jackpwnage said, i played arma 2 and arma 2 oa as nothing but a pilot on multiplayer servers, some of my fondest memories of arma 2 where time i spent on helicopters doing insertions etc, and on OA my fondest memories where flying planes, both of which are some of my favorite moments in my gaming life, and i'm a veteran gamer.

@edwardschristopherj well from start of match it can be anything from 2 hours to 6, tbh a lot of casual players get put off by this and don't give it a try, but once you get what your doing and know how to do it, arma 2 is the most rewarding game feeling wise. i believe you can get arma 2 multiplayer for free now on steam, but not all features are unlocked, for example mods on servers, which tbh there is one mod called ace which most people play on, worth a try. :)

One thing I can tell you about the A-10. The majority of it's fuselage houses that monster of a chin gun. I guess it is true. "The A-10 Warthog: A plane mounted on a gun" =)
@ccmanmonc Your processor is definitly not going to be able to handle this, my Intel 2 Duo Core with 2.1 GHz (which is already VERY small) can just about handle normal to high settings.
I got 4 GB RAM which is the standard to run pretty much every game these days, including arma2.
I suggest getting a new system cause yours is from the stoneage sir :).
How do you make the terrain and buildings look so nice when the shots are from high in the sky? In my game, even on max settings, and I have a decent card, it looks trashy from that high, are you running it through some filters and blur?
@hotshot0101 What if they don't capture you or some friendly forces rescue you? What if the enemy is really nice and treat you kindly, or they just let you go? What if you have a nice loving family waiting for you to come home? Any way, you won't know what will happen if you're dead.

You need a pretty powerful PC in order to play this game apparently. I had just downloaded the Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead demo, and it basically labeled my GeForce 6150se a piece of shit.... The game did play but with horrible frames, like 5 frames per second. Hope you luckier people with decent rigs are enjoying yourselves.

@Litoshq Have you tried? I think you might be surprised. Earl Llaanamen(sp?) started making weapons for B.I. games when lots of us noticed his weapon packs for Ghost Recon. I personally recommended him to the Brothers Spanel, as did at least one other person.

@JLennon1998 it's actually a su-25, a multipurpose plane. You know something interesting? In the game, I had to fake the dogfight. If i put an a10 behind a su25, the a10 wouldnt shoot for nothing. If I put them in the vice versa order, the su-25 would murder the a10 in 3 seconds. I wasnt sure why, maybe because the a10 thinks its more fit for ground targets, but either way I had to fake it lol...took me an extra 15 minutes but oh well.
@Litoshq yeah, the A-10 was specifically designed around its cannon which is made for destroying ground targets. This plane is not made for air-to-air combat. Thats why the SU-25 shot it down, cuz it IS made for air-to-air fighting.
@Litoshq If you're talking about the plane visible in 2:26 its a SU-34.
FYI is neither the SU-34 nor the SU-25 multipurpose planes, they are both dedicated anti ground platforms. Soviet and Russian airplane designers usually implemented their other fighters such as the MiG-29 and SU-27 (and derivatives) as multipurpose planes being both air to air and air to ground capable. :)
@Litoshq It's actually the Su-34. The scenario is pretty fake. In real life the Su-34 would shoot down the A-10 because the A-10 is a really old plane (first models were from the 1970s I believe) that can't maneuver that well and its weapons are not fit for engaging air targets because the airplane is meant to provide close air support against ground targets.
@Litoshq Umm, I think you're wrong, the SU-25 is like a russian version of the A10, and the SU-37 is one of the best fighters in the world, google the images for the SU 25 and the SU 37, just saying, so you won't be wrond in the future ;)

How do you make the terrain and buildings look so nice when the shots are from high in the sky? In my game, even on max settings, and I have a decent card, it looks trashy from that high, are you running it through some filters and blur?

You need a pretty powerful PC in order to play this game apparently. I had just downloaded the Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead demo, and it basically labeled my GeForce 6150se a piece of shit.... The game did play but with horrible frames, like 5 frames per second. Hope you luckier people with decent rigs are enjoying yourselves.

@Litoshq Have you tried? I think you might be surprised. Earl Llaanamen(sp?) started making weapons for B.I. games when lots of us noticed his weapon packs for Ghost Recon. I personally recommended him to the Brothers Spanel, as did at least one other person.

Wow! That was an awsome video! You must have put tons of work into it, scripting and all. The dramatic music and effects go really well together. Awsome! Ever since i started playing Arma2 i also have ideas for short movies floating in my head, gotta learn how to script now. Btw not to be a dick or anything but I think A-10 is a ground support aircraft by definition and it doesnt really make sense that it took out a Su-35. Still I really enjoyed your vid! GJ!

@JLennon1998 it's actually a su-25, a multipurpose plane. You know something interesting? In the game, I had to fake the dogfight. If i put an a10 behind a su25, the a10 wouldnt shoot for nothing. If I put them in the vice versa order, the su-25 would murder the a10 in 3 seconds. I wasnt sure why, maybe because the a10 thinks its more fit for ground targets, but either way I had to fake it lol...took me an extra 15 minutes but oh well.

@Litoshq yeah, the A-10 was specifically designed around its cannon which is made for destroying ground targets. This plane is not made for air-to-air combat. Thats why the SU-25 shot it down, cuz it IS made for air-to-air fighting.

@Litoshq If you're talking about the plane visible in 2:26 its a SU-34.
FYI is neither the SU-34 nor the SU-25 multipurpose planes, they are both dedicated anti ground platforms. Soviet and Russian airplane designers usually implemented their other fighters such as the MiG-29 and SU-27 (and derivatives) as multipurpose planes being both air to air and air to ground capable. :)

@Litoshq It's actually the Su-34. The scenario is pretty fake. In real life the Su-34 would shoot down the A-10 because the A-10 is a really old plane (first models were from the 1970s I believe) that can't maneuver that well and its weapons are not fit for engaging air targets because the airplane is meant to provide close air support against ground targets.

@Litoshq Umm, I think you're wrong, the SU-25 is like a russian version of the A10, and the SU-37 is one of the best fighters in the world, google the images for the SU 25 and the SU 37, just saying, so you won't be wrond in the future ;)
