People don't seem to understand that wikileaks wasn't denying that some of the people may have been carrying weapons. What is alarming is that at one point while the camera is aimed directly at the reporters, the pilot presumed that he was carrying a weapon. Also alarming was that they shot all the people in the van without identifying them - we now know they had nothing to do with the armed men, they were just helping a severely wounded man (reporter) but ended up being murdered instead.

It's amazing how the media is ignoring that there were weapons being carried by some of these militants. Alot of these reporters are sympathetic to the terrorist's cause because they share the same enemy, the United States.

My own opinion is the pilot was at fault and no one else. He lied and ommited information throughtout this engagement and misidentified the cameras for AK's/RPG. He also lied to shoot the unarmed van drivers and the injured camera man.
7. The pilot said 6 individuals with AK47's when he could only confirm 2.
8. The pilot failed to mention the 6-8 individuals who were completely unarmed.
9. After shooting these guys he lied about the 2 completely unarmed van drivers. He said they were picking up weapons when they ONLY picked up the heavy body of the camera man
10. The military lied in its first report on this attack and said everyone shot was a confirmed armed insurgent

1. At the time of the video Journalists often had armed escorts and Iraq civilians had the right to carry AK47's amoung other weapons.
2. The pilot confused 2 30mm Cameras for A47's
3. The pilot DID NOT identify a RPG until the camera lens was pointed around the corner
4. At 5:16 you can clearly see that none of them had a RPG and 8 out of 10 of them were UNARMED
5. The camera crew had a heavy Tripod (suspected RPG pic?)
6. Why would insurgents only have 2 weapons between 10 guys? get Real!
