training wheels. The BMX world started calling his family "The First Family Of Freestyle" because there is no other pioneers from those day who have sons that are his son's age that still ride and compete side by side and also do extreme BMX Shows as father and sons. Back in July of 2005, Back in July of 2005, his sons got their bikes impounded for doing this sport they love in the skateboard only park.
Furmage "The First Family Of Freestyle BMX" After 125 plus meetings in over 5 years "The First Family Of Freestyle BMX" have acomplished what they set out to do, GET BIKES ALLOWED IN THE JAMES WOODY SKATEPARK. William "Crazy Lacy" Furmage of Apple Valley was a pioneer in the sport of BMX Freestyle back in the late 70's, also an Original Vans member in 1982 has taught the sport to his sons Chris 23 & Corey 20 since they first took off their training wheels.
APPLE VALLEY 1-11-2011 • After five years and more than 100 Town Council meetings, William " Crazy Lacy ” Furmage is declaring victory. The 3-Diamond Skatepark at James Woody Community Center closed down this week to undergo renovations. When it reopens the first week of April 2011, the park will be able to accommodate both skateboarders and freestyle BMX riders.
Town Council awarded $226,902 in contracts to redesign the current skatepark to allow BMX Freestyle. Awesome job Crazy Lacy!
I've been going to the council watching William and the kids asking for a SIMPLE RULE CHANGE for over 5 years at the skatepark with the "NO BIKES ALLOWED" sign. Still nothing has been done for them. Tickets, 30 Day impounds, etc. 2 years ago, the golf course got in trouble so the council steps in and bails it out. 4 million so far spent on the Country Club. 8 million just spent on New Animal shelter. Another 8 million spent on NEW town hall exspansion. STILL NOTHING! This Council is a joke!

Trish Hill AV Station spokewoman says, I myself have seen a change in the number of Transients and "GROUPS OF ROWDY TEENS" that have been seen in the park.“ARE WE TALKING ABOUT KIDS TRYING TO RIDE THEIR BMX BIKES”?My son said a few BMX Freestylers THAT ARE OVER 21 show up after 5 to practice their sport When Code Enforcement is gone for the day to ride the skatepark with the lame “NO BIKES ALLOWED” sign,
When they see the Police there, they go and buy some 40s and come back and drink instead of riding. Hmmm. WE ARE NOW AT 5 YEARS 3 MONTHS and this current council can’t see to think past their next putt and the Country Club. SPENDING NEARLY $400,000 EVERY 3 MONTHS on it. While our LOCAL youth Bike riders have to wait , wait, and wait some more for a grant or whatever will help get this bike park going. Our youth are "OUR CROWN JEWELS" Our Council needs to work for them for a change, '
R.A.D. / LINQ / FURM LIFE PARKS Have to yard parks to ride at the moment until we can get our local council to see the light and BUILD THE RIDERS A PARK OR ALTERNATE THE DAYS AT JAMES WOODY. 1st park is at 20984 Lone Eagle Rd Apple Valley Ca since 2002 and 2nd park Still in the making is at 10566 Central Rd Apple Valley.
@TheSkunkyButter Sounds like you need to get off your ass and attend some city council meetings to bring about change the way William Furmage did. Props William,
