Fraps will always be better quality because it dumps full uncompressed frames hence the large file sizes.

lol you want to compare these video capture programs. But you uploaded a video with 480p xD.

For a real compare, you must not compress the video and run the game with at least 720p at full settings. I also think the quality of the video is just one thing, the other are the system ressources, so a cpu and gpu benchmark would be nice too

le'ts take some factors at consideration:

- fee: you need to pay fraps for descent recording, xfire is completely free

- compatibility: fraps will record anything with directX at it, even videos, while xfire only record games within a certain list

- quality: fraps is pretty much better at this point, but if you have a machine not capable for it, xfire will result in better framerate and let's say that the videos are a little smaller in file size.

@TheAm1shHD you can shorten the xfire AVI file by uploading it into your xfire channel . When it is done uploading it there is a remote and an encoded video. The encoded vid is 3x(estimate) shorter than the original. When i record for like 5-8 min it is over 2 gb but when i uploaded it it was under 2 gb. And the quality is awesome! it just depends on the quality of your computer.

@TheAm1shHD an encoded video is made fter uploading it to xfire.com the encoded vid is a compressed video file of teh original. you can delete the original file and still have the encoded one

Oh i should actualy do that. just to make it like noticable. Yeah ill upload a new video soon. But usualy I wouldnt use Xfire recording becuase if your gunna edit it with sony vegas pro 8.0 you cant speed up the clip without it going black when you wanna save it (render it) so either way i would use fraps, its a lot better just the files when you record are huge! lol for about a minute of cod4 recording its about 1 gig
