This is the first I've ever heard of Phil playing w/ Tull. Wow!!! Does anyone know what this is from? I'm guessing some Live-Aid-ish show with Phil playing possibly with several bands.
No, this is Phil helping Tull out on the Broadsword Tour. This just shows what a down-to-earth kind of guy he is. This is 1982, when he was already a superstar, by far surpassing Tull's success of that time. But I guess he must have admired the music of Jethro tull a lot and was happy to fill in. So cool.
Surpassing Tull's success? Are you American by any chance? That's kind of insulting... Any Tull album is just as good if not better than Genesis - especially after Abacab...
I guess you got that wrong. When I said surpassed, I was not talking about quality of music but commercial success. Jethro Tull gradually sold less and less after their commercial peak in 71/72, while Genesis (and, since 81, Phil Solo) sold more and more. When it comes to quality of music, I prefer Tull, simply because they put out a much larger number of uncomparable, outstanding albums, the only one of those ever released by Genesis being Selling England. Polite greetings from Germany
