I got this game and I love it! the sad thing is that we should be getting more DLC quests that continue the story and give you powerful items and PSN items you can buy but its taking a while and no signs of em coming.
I must say that i have looked at many of your reviews of these games, and no of them are unfair. i see the flaws that you see(i.e. Skyrim) and their fair, they just dont bother me is all. Thumbs up to you because you have been fair to the games, and, more importantly, to ALL the systems supporting them. Hats off to you. :)

@UNDEFEA73D Batman AC. Dark souls might be too hard(Trust me, this game really is HARD HARD HARD), and batman arkham city is actually pretty good. By far the best batman game to date.

Mana is not an issue if you're playing as a swordsman or with a party consist of an archer or mage. And the action bar is only slow because you're wearing HEAVY armor =]

I was watching back over your review again and I was thinking of how you said you would have preferred real time button mashing over turn based style of combat. I'm curious if you ever played Final Fantasy 12 and if you had the same thoughts about that game since its essentially the same type of combat.
@111Zadok Indeed it reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy XII. Even the graphics are more or less the same, menus especially. The combat is pretty similar also. Real time movement but turn-based combat.
It's more or less a classic JRPG with their sidequests that you could care less.
@kartofawe Takes a while to beat all of these long games coming out lately. I could be shady like others and not beat the game before I review it, but I want to be fair to my viewers. That means it takes longer to get the reviews out.
You have a disadvantage against some of the review sites only being one person as opposed to a staff of reviewers/writers. Sounds like you need clones...I can help with that....
My bad, I didn't mean your reviews were lacking, quite the opposite actually. I meant that it's harder for one person to keep up with all the new releases of games as opposed to a team or a staff (hence my bad attempt at a joke with the clones). I share similar interests in gaming genres that you do RPG>Shooters>Fighting so I find you're reviews to be the most useful to me.

@InternationalGamer1 Yes, there are a lot of factors that decide the quality of a game, but we're all different and some factors can make larger differences than others. Sometimes, that factor is graphics especially if the person is very visual, so you can't discredit them as "new generation" just because you disagree. Hate to inform you, but a mighty chunk of the "old generation" praised the evolution of graphics and enjoyed the hell out of the fps just as much as kids do today.

Nice review. I played the remastered part 1 again and really liked the combat improvements. Its a lot faster and more difficult than before. Although WKC1 was painfully slow and easy.
Hmm, looks a bit too hardcore for me. I'm past the point of wanting to sink that much time into an RPG that has slow combat and cliche story. Plus, it doesn't sound easy to find people to play with online.
The combat was faster this time around, especially if u are a mage. As for the cool moves, do what I do and carry manna potions, let the characters u dont use carry spares n as a side note, u can use them on knights (resultin in it lasting forever) great review btw

Do you mean that this is a hardcore RPG because it has level grinding or merely because it's turn based combat? Since I purchased Triniy: Souls of Zil Ohl upon your review and enjoyed it, I doubt tedious sidequests will be a problem.
My biggest question is, can you control anyone other than the main protagonist and have to give commands to your allies or can you switch characters you control afterthey joined the party?
@purpleblizzard You MIGHT have to grind, but I didn't really have to. It's hard-core to me because it contains all of the old-school computer rpg mechanics like foraging, repairing, crafting, upgrading, dismantling, learning massive amounts of skills etc... You can control any of the three characters in your party and switch on the fly (you'll have to do this at some points). You can also issue basic commands like attack my target, spread out or fall back.
I wouldn't classify this as a "hardcore" RPG. It just seems like a typical JRPG to me. Just because a game has super dated RPG mechanics doesn't make it hardcore >_>

@RemyLanslots You shouldn't want to start number 2 without beating number 1 anyway though. You need to know what happens in the story to understand 2.
@ZeitgeistReview I know, but it'd be nice if I could continue White Knight Chronicles from where I currently am in the original game on the White Knight Chronicles II disc. But sadly, Level-5 only allowed completed games to be loaded in White Knight Chronicles on the White Knight Chronicles II disc.

i hate how almost all of the rpg's on this generation of consoles are set in the old days, with sword and shield. why dont they make some really cool worlds with lots of unique weapons and diferent characters and stuff. more modern looking stuff like folklore and ff versus 13. thats how they should be, not midevil like demons souls,dragon age origins,elder scrolls 4,and this game. i cant think of much more but i know there is a lot. i want an awsome arpg with a unique world and unique people

@InquisitorPrime Not really. Both consoles are about equal on JRPGs. 360 as better quality JRPGs though. Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata, Manga Carta 2, Star Ocean 4, Final Fantasy XIII, and probably others that I would consider high quality RPGs. Some of those are multiplatform but you're really not missing out on too many JRPGs by only having a 360.

but i do love the gigantic amount of Custom Character option's, although most are a pain to earn.
as for the games ending, after the credits when your avatar appeared, it said "to be continued" so they may plan a 3rd game staring your avatar.

How ignorant can some of you be, thinking that games are all about graphics. Story is important but Gameplay is what sells a game more than anything. Or are you one of those kids of the new Generation who think that cause you have newer game systems your better than me a person who grew up as a 90's kid.
How sad for you new generation kids. You don't know that the best games of all time were more than FPS. FFVII & XENOGEARS are 2 of over 50,000 games of the past.

@InternationalGamer1 Yes, there are a lot of factors that decide the quality of a game, but we're all different and some factors can make larger differences than others. Sometimes, that factor is graphics especially if the person is very visual, so you can't discredit them as "new generation" just because you disagree. Hate to inform you, but a mighty chunk of the "old generation" praised the evolution of graphics and enjoyed the hell out of the fps just as much as kids do today.

Hey can U people stop nagging him. He reviewed good games,& more than OverSaturated amount of FPS games there've been this GEN. Graphics don't mean shit if Gameplay is horrible. Don't bash a game til you have played it.

Horrible review zeitgeist. This game's graphics are brutal, the gameplay is boring, plot made no sense, unlikeable characters and teeribad ending. Nice review. I played the remastered part 1 again and really liked the combat improvements. Its a lot faster and more difficult than before. Although WKC1 was painfully slow and easy.

Hmm, looks a bit too hardcore for me. I'm past the point of wanting to sink that much time into an RPG that has slow combat and cliche story. Plus, it doesn't sound easy to find people to play with online.

The combat was faster this time around, especially if u are a mage. As for the cool moves, do what I do and carry manna potions, let the characters u dont use carry spares n as a side note, u can use them on knights (resultin in it lasting forever) great review btw

Nice review. I replayed part 1 and found the remastered combat mechanics to be alot more playable. When I played the first one, the attack timers seemed painfully slow. I fell asleep so many times that I couldnt complete the game. This time around I was able to finish the whole game in a few sittings and had fun. They also ramped upmthe difficulty which made the battles more engaging for me.

Do you mean that this is a hardcore RPG because it has level grinding or merely because it's turn based combat? Since I purchased Triniy: Souls of Zil Ohl upon your review and enjoyed it, I doubt tedious sidequests will be a problem.
My biggest question is, can you control anyone other than the main protagonist and have to give commands to your allies or can you switch characters you control afterthey joined the party?

@purpleblizzard You MIGHT have to grind, but I didn't really have to. It's hard-core to me because it contains all of the old-school computer rpg mechanics like foraging, repairing, crafting, upgrading, dismantling, learning massive amounts of skills etc... You can control any of the three characters in your party and switch on the fly (you'll have to do this at some points). You can also issue basic commands like attack my target, spread out or fall back.

I wouldn't classify this as a "hardcore" RPG. It just seems like a typical JRPG to me. Just because a game has super dated RPG mechanics doesn't make it hardcore >_>

I still need to complete the first game. I'm currently ten hours in, and already own WKC II. However, you can't load a mid-game savefile of the original in WKC II, which is a sad thing, because the original has been enhanced for the sequel! Oh well, I'll just have to keep playing the first one, then...
Hopefully, my PS3 will return soon! I received a nice YLOD last Sunday, so I'll have ot wait until Sony sends it back to me... :(
Will just have to continue MagnaCarta 2 until then... ;)

@ZeitgeistReview I know, but it'd be nice if I could continue White Knight Chronicles from where I currently am in the original game on the White Knight Chronicles II disc. But sadly, Level-5 only allowed completed games to be loaded in White Knight Chronicles on the White Knight Chronicles II disc.

Dynasty Warriors 7: Xtreme Legends will be released next month for PS3. Will you review it? You did review the original game, so I hope you will. I spent 108 hours in DW7; all Trophies!

i hate how almost all of the rpg's on this generation of consoles are set in the old days, with sword and shield. why dont they make some really cool worlds with lots of unique weapons and diferent characters and stuff. more modern looking stuff like folklore and ff versus 13. thats how they should be, not midevil like demons souls,dragon age origins,elder scrolls 4,and this game. i cant think of much more but i know there is a lot. i want an awsome arpg with a unique world and unique people

@InquisitorPrime Not really. Both consoles are about equal on JRPGs. 360 as better quality JRPGs though. Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata, Manga Carta 2, Star Ocean 4, Final Fantasy XIII, and probably others that I would consider high quality RPGs. Some of those are multiplatform but you're really not missing out on too many JRPGs by only having a 360.
