I'd kill someone if I had to......that's one item that u pretty much give up anything for. But I'd wanna go with these guys...I've watched this movie a bunch of times. I'd love to trip out in Vegas with them...looks unbelievably fun.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multicoloured uppers, downers, sceamers, laughers. also a quarter tequila, a quarter of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and 2 dozen amyls
you cant beat this movie... its by far the best movie ever made...i wonder who the lucky bastard was who did the research for the movie, i wanna meet him...if hes still alive that is
Hunter S Thompson wrote the book of the same name this is based off of and Johnny Depp studied him pretty close to get the character right, as it's all based off of true events.
all his writings were based on his life, i'm aware of that, but it's not a "true story" per say, he writes about actual events but changes them as well. just because he went to las vegas, doesn't mean everything in the novel is true. and theres not really any reason of being so aggresive, your just making yourself look stupid.
While Hunter S. Thompson was a pioneer and the 'Godfather' of Gonzo journalism - he had released works before 'Fear and Loathing..' which can also be seen as 'Gonzo' journalism.
Basically, the story behind Fear and Loathing is that he was sent to Las Vegas to cover the Mint 400 (4000? not sure) race and a drug squad convention. He decided to get ripped on drugs and write an article concerning the 'search for the American Dream'. Well, thats the gist of it at least.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, laughers, screamers...,,, i want all those drugs
this movie is so great, upbeat but with a layered meaning.its basically a thinly veiled attack at the "american dream". plus its just really, really funny in parts, almost as good as the book.
Definatly one of the best movies ever...This propelled Johnny Depp into the superstardom he now has..and it is in my view that Benicio Del Toro got the Oscar he won for Traffic...For this performance..but they sure as shit could not award a film about what this film is about Oscars now could they...(if you think this movie is about drugs..you are deluded...Drugs are a character in the film...not the subject)
how long could we maintain i wondered how long before one of us startes raving and jabbering at this boy what will he think then this sane lone dessert was the last nown home of the manson family would he make that grim connection when my atorney stats screaming about bats and huge manterays swooping down on the car well if so well just have to cut of his head and barry him somwhere jesus did i say that or just think it
I remember i read Hunters book back in 1990. I couldnt put it down and missed lots of classes. It's still the coolest, most insane thing i think i've ever read.
Thanks for putting this man.. one of my favourite scenes ever!!! Del Toro and Depp at their BEST!! AWESOME!! You should have put until Tobey gets his lift... "WELL... GET IN!! We're not like the others man.." :)

no it's not, lol, it's based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson.

Actually it's a Roman à clef, or a novel describing real life, behind a façade of fiction. So, in a way, you're both right...

The novel was about his trip to Las Vegas JACK OFF. True fucking story, get your godamn facts straight before you talk on the internet dumbass.
