  • Born and breed to chase, catch and take down wolves, Irish Wolfhounds are not genetically robust and so don't live very long. Most are lucky to see seven years old.

  • Обычный волкодав.

  • Yeah, Oscar died and now they have Oscar 2.

  • frances 734 so true heaven help anyone carrying the football when Beouwulf was playing ,,a gentle giant ,fantastic dogs quiet too, not a yapper or barker I remember seeing one on the River of Lieth walk in Edinburgh, mine was 48 1/2'' at the shoulder and 178 pounds when he was 11 months old ,this one in Scotland I saw DWARFED my wolfhound ENORMOUS!!!!

  • lupus liones lol

  • I've seen this same dog, at this same castle...it actually inspired us to get our own wolfhound. Thanks for posting this vid so I can show everyone!

  • "GENTLE WHEN STROKED, FIERCE WHEN PROVOKED"

That discribes an Irish Wolfhound best, and I have had the honor of having many IW's in my life, and my oldest, Hawk, lived to the ripe old age of 13! Many breeders breed for longevity. Most of my hounds lived to 11 to 12, Hawk was our oldest hound.

  • Thats a big hairy dog, cute 2!

  • Big Dog! And, is that a Blackberry I hear interfering with the audio?

  • Hannigan06.... I like the sneaky "Pog Mo Thoin" at the end! :) I'm thinking it says... Kiss my beeeeeehind! Lol!

I hope to get an Irish Wolfhound soon! I liked the video.

  • my pup's father could hook his paws OVER a 7' plus chain link fence with back feet on the ground and look DOWN on me [6'3''] and weighed 220 what a giant but so friendly

  • I have a st Bernard wolfhound cross and he is such a gentle dog. One of the best I have ever own, makes me want tons more of them

  • thats a damn horse !! haha

  • they are my dogs paddy and ola

    were was this taken ?

  • boring video. If you know dogs you know this breed is huge

  • I have 2 irish wolfhounds :) they are total sweethearts though. i also used to have another one a few years ago...

  • One of my best friends had an Irish Wolfhound when we were kids. Yes, they are gentle giants, but trust me you wouldn't want to piss one off. They are very protective of children and his dad had to make sure that the dog was outside if he ever had to discipline one of the kids. Keep in mind that these dogs were used by farmers in Ireland to protect their sheep from the wolves and would kill wolves by grabbing them by the throat and shaking them like a rag doll. They are by no means pussy dogs.

  • beautiful irish ,, no need to run guys der pretty calm amd placid

  • i love dogs but if i see a dog that big run up on me out of no where im running

  • If you want a Dog to hunt boar Get a Dogo Argentino. Greatest dog breed in my Opinion i have seen a group of 3 take down a 300 pound wild boar. And there absolutely fearless.

  • imagine if the police used irish wolfhound as their police dogs instead of the standard german sheppards

  • I have known many wolfhounds that could do the job they were meant too.

  • the only dog that can kill a wolf

  • Very true indeed, we are lucky that they are still around at all. I still wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of one of them. I wonder how long the original hound lived...! They don't seem to live very long, which is such a shame, I'm sure one could get very attachted to them.

  • owned lol

  • Oh I want one

  • Ahhhh! It's the Hound of the Baskervilles! Roll up the window!

  • If a Wolfhound got angry you wouldn't be calling it a pussy hound. These things to used to take down deer and wolves as well as men on horse back. The Irish used the dog to take down English knights, so respect where respects due.

  • They've been bred to be docile now, needing to be more of a companion than a hunter.

  • Irish Wolfhounds

8,000 BC Are the largest Dogs on average. All though Great Danes can grow taller.

Another thing check out on youtube of these guys running they aren't slow.

  • there about shop street the whole time..some hippie owns them and usually puts bandanas on the poor fuckers

  • thats one tall glass of water

  • foo shut your dumb ass up who gives a fuck about a kangal fucken faget dick sucking prick. cock breath bitch

  • Comment removed

  • so it can eat out ur mom?

  • Irish Wolfhounds and Great Danes, and English Mastiff are the largest dogs in the world this Kangal you talk about if its not mentioned with these three Giant Dogs than it isn't worth knowing.

    Pog Mo Thoin

  • The Turkish Kangal is big, too--with a heavy build. It's worth knowing because it's unique--not quite tame, and doesn't so much guard sheep as hunt while beside them--bear and lions in Roman times. They're on youtube. Very cool.

  • @kangal123hakan wooww. can we say pms? whats up ur ass, dude?

  • Its not that we don't BELIEVE you. We just dont care. So go have a nice cup of SHUT THE FUCK UP.

  • @kangal123hakan douchebag

  • Irish Wolfhound: weight: 105-125 lbs. height: 35-35 in.

Great Danes: weight: 100-120 lbs. height: 28-32 in.

English Mastiff: weight: 175-250 lbs. height: 27.5-32 in.

Neopolitan Mastiff: weight: 150-180 lbs. height: 26-31 in.

Newfoundland: weight: 130-150 lbs. height 28-30 in.

Saint Bernard: weight: 150-200 lbs. height: 27-30 in.

  • @kangal123hakan no not pixies dog that was an irish wolfhound A DOG bahahah

  • @kangal123hakan irish wolfhounds are the tallest breed in the world you english coward

  • @JohnnyHeneghan09 Great danes...cough

  • @ThanksDoctorThoctor they are the second tallest

  • @kangal123hakan

why is it all kangal lovers bang on about how 'hard' the breed is? who gives a fuck, this is the 21st century, but then again, if your turkish/kurdish you arent a part of that yet. and for the record, anyone who wants/needs a dog which is 'hard' they are obviously a pussy themselves.

  • Well, poodles were originally bred as hunting dogs. I am talking about the breed that is not quite as big as wolfhounds. Were you thinking of miniature poodles? Also, the bite strength of a wolfhound can, and has crushed the skulls of pit bulls. They are called "wolf"hounds for a reason. Maybe not as big as the dog you describe, but no pushover.

  • they're wolf hounds because they were bred to bait/hunt wolves. I've got to groom quite a few of these, dogs they're beautiful

  • shut up scumy turk

  • people usted 2 take that dog from the grounds of the castle after weddings thinking it was funny, once he was found about 4o miles from the castle, since then he is afraid of anybody petting him

  • up the IRISH and animals go on big mother fuckers i love em

  • Dog? no.

    Horse. More likely.

    O_O I want one.

  • Were those street dogs or something it looked like they were on their own.

  • I dont know. i imagine the owners live near by. And the dogs go were they want.

  • No That was taken on the grounds of Cabra Castle. Oscar th wolfhound roams the grounds there. Thats the front entrance door off the parking lot

  • I was wondering cause who would let they're Wolfhound walk around in the streets.

  • @tmurph13 Hello, is it true Oscars dead?

  • @Dirtymurder Yes. I believe he passed away in the last year or so.

  • They're so frigin huge, could mistake it for a pony.

  • Irish wolfhounds are the most gentle beautiful loyal pets. Ours died at the age of 9....unfortunately they don't live long lives

  • OMFG ITS DOGZILLA!!!

    o.0

  • they used to be bigger than that agen.. they were used to kill in old irish wars.. seen pictures of the head of one at a mans sholder!!! holy crap!! sadly that blood line has slowly died

  • People were also shorter back then too.

  • They were used for hunting and yeh, for battle in ancient Ireland. The species almost went extinct.

  • hahaha iused to have a wolf hound he was about the same soze as a small donkey

  • jh

    j

  • Lock your children in doors. ITS A MONSTAH XD

  • they wouldn,t hurt anyone. Gentle giants :D

  • it would if you hit it with a news paper every day, alot like any dog

  • holy!

  • Why do Irish people swear so much?

  • um....cause we are the only people who do... sheesh next you'll say we drink to much - got to love the sterotypes - side note mate...they were english.

  • They were not English.

  • they fuckin english, you can tell a we bit, i am irish

  • English you stupid moron. I know who they are.

  • They weren't English, that's an Irish accent, sounded like a well spoken Dubliner, but they weren't English.

  • Yeah your right, I want an Irish Wolfhound!

  • The people speaking in the video don't have English accents; their accents are from the Dublin area.

  • Glasnevin to be exact.

  • This guy looks like me . .. . we must be related somewhere - I love water!

  • I belive that is a doG named Oscar who lives at Cabra Castle in County Cavan. We have two dogs from the same breeder. As a breed, nothing compares to the wolfies.

  • I LOVE WOLF HOUNDS!

  • Irish wolfhound, otherwise known as the gentle giant! They are beautiful dogs, but yes very big ^^
