A lot of trashing Cam on here. lol. I mean, I know they're not winning games, but Cam is putting up SERIOUS numbers. He threw for more yards in consecutive games than any rookie QB ever. Hell, the only non-rookie QB to match it is Tom Brady. I know they have a LOT of work to do, but that offense will be revolving around Cam Newton for a long time, I would imagine.
In hind sight, Cam appears to be the smarter choice. Clausen played in 13 games. Newton has played in 5 fewer games but has thrown for 835 more yards, 8 more touchdowns, and has also run for 8 touchdowns. Newton has already surpassed all of last year’s team offensive production in 8 games… Also, Cam is essentially doing this with the same team Clausen had last year.

In the NFL, Jimmy Clausen has not achieved the completion percent Cam has. Cam has thrown for more yards and with more success. That's a statistical fact. So, from where are you getting the information to support your opinion? I'm not gonna say he's the best QB in the league or anything crazy like that. But, you can't say Clausen is a better passer. He's not.
@jont43 To back up my assertion, according to espn.com, Clausen completed 157 passes out of 299 attempts for 3 touchdowns, totaling 1,558 yards and a passer rating of 58.4 in 13 games in 2010. That's a 52.5% success rate. In his 8 games, Cam has completed 174 passes out of 287 attempts for 11 touchdowns, totaling 2,393 yards and a passer rating of 87.1. That's a 60.6 success rate which is considered quite decent. Please tell me how Clausen is better in the NFL.
@jont43 Regardless of how much stats who can rack up ... Newton is not a top caliber winning QB .. not saying clausen is either but Newton's starter record is overlooked by stats...if stats mean so much why is Tebow 4-1?

Clausen was thrown onto one of the worst NFL teams his rookie season, even Tom Brady would have a hard time making good numbers with an offence like that. I wouldn't be surprised if they start Cam Newton though because of how bad Clausen did last yr. BUT, they will probably see the same thing they saw out of Clausen last yr, and hopefully pull Newton and let Clausen show the real skills he has.
the season will start with clausen. cam newton is still too new to the league to take on the pressure of a first year starter on the opening game. clausen will most likely start the first handful of games and as cam improves he may take the position from there.
