I think Planet Ratis is really suppose to be "Planet Latis". In Japan, L's are replace with R's. ☺

So I'm guessing this burning abyss is what's left of the water planet, Latis after the Salamander armada (Zelos) attacked it & Gradius in 6709... 😊
