You should write a story about him. It's rather rare to find an elephant seal lone.
Speaking of, did you see the article about the elephant seal pup being born away from the rookery? It's rather interesting, because it's parents were nearby, making them look like a family. :)

Perhaps he was a rogue (though he seemed rather mellow.)

By day 3 we were making up stories about how he had been rejected by all the "girls"....and was an outcast, and his vocalizing was a cry for help...

Didn't see the pup you mention...
We've never seen an elephant seal on a main public beach like this before so its definitely out of the norm. Hope he found his 'gang' eventually...
