My buddies and I drove by and saw the line and decided to pass. We went to get breakfast and made it back when people were still coming in. We waited in line and got a wristband. You guys rock for waiting. At CV we got up and to the con center at 430 and got to see him again. Thanks for posting this. What a great memory.
I can't believe I found this. You can hear my voice at 0:50 asking if you guys are camping out for the lucas event. HAHA! Awesome! We got to see him the next afternoon out of pure luck. We never stood in a single line and were offered tickets about an hour before the show! Thanks for posting the video!
I found this video ages ago but apparently forgot to reply. I just rediscovered it looking for CV panel videos (my husband now works for Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and was on a fan-run panel at CV). My husband, a couple of friends and I were slightly ahead of you in line. We can be seen at 6:59 right before the column blocks the view, my husband in the green fleece jacket, I have long dark hair, and one of the friends in a white plaid shirt. Then at 7:03 My husband is setting up a chair. Fun!
I think I was maybe 10-15 people behind you in line. Each time you were about to see me on your video you panned away! :) Brings back some cool memories to watch this tho. Good stuff.
Hey! I was there! I made the second session of the George Lucas Interview! It was so cool! I'm from Maryland and I drove to Indiana for the three days of the celebration! Awesome!
I was there with two friends who both forgot to bring good jackets with them and if not for me packing extra jackets in my car they would have frozen to death. We got in line around 3:00 am or so. After hours of being cold and wet we finally got to go inside around 6:00am. Despite the long wait and terrible weather, we all three agreed that it was totally worth even second of it.
yeah I remember that group heading up front :)...I will also say we were pretty much in front of the main line, I was number 66 I think of which we were by the lobby doors entering. Not sure how far back you was. I stopped filming mainly due to the rain.
Cool that you shared your experience droopy :) Thanks
Anyways, so we make it inside only to moved to the skywalk... and then into a garage (no joke!)... and then into anotehr skywalk... and finally into the queue.
From the looks of your video in the queue we should have actually been not too far from where you were filming everyone sleeping. Hmm... small world.
However, this employee neglected to tell us that he was telling the end of the line to move before the front. LOL My group and I (not knowing this) did as we were told and moved across the street and into the Hyatt. As soon as we hit the door, behind us a huge mass of people were all crossing the street as we just had.
Wow. I'm surprised that neither myself or my group of C3'ers didn't make it into this video. From the looks of it, we were probably on your tail the whole night. LOL
We got in line sometime between 1 and 2am and was lined up behind the RCA Dome with a slew of other people all under tarps. After a short wait an attendant came up and said for us to move across teh street to the Hyatt (where everyone was ushered inside).
We were in line freezing our butts off and we ended up saying "forget it" cause there were rumors that they were not going to let everyone in.
So we went back into the convention center and after the first George show, we happened to be by the escalators and they yelled down and said "anyone who wants to see George, get up here now". George had decided to do another show and we got in.
My friends and I attended, and saw Lucas too. Our story differs from yours in that we got there early, but not early enough. We were told that it was too late to see George. Once inside, and depressed, some guy we didn't know ran up to us to inform us that some bracelets were given away for one of the shows, and we quickly ran to get them, and got in to see George. Funny how our emotions shifted from such excitement, depression, and then excileration. :) Thanks for posting.
Chris here, the one who waited in line the whole time and waited in the near freezing rain, yea...was nice to dry off at least. I was up for about 36 hours that day..maybe more.
