  • Fascinating to see one of these early machines in action! And a great job restoring it!

I can't quite tell from the video quality, but the reproducer looks more like a Pathé than a Columbia....

@edisonphonographs: I think it was more the quality of the early cylinders, more than the machine itself, that made eartubes a necessity at the time....

  • Wow! That is a very early machine!

  • what a neat little homemade case.

  • Well its a very early machine and early machines have very limited volume so eartubes would work best with the machine as eartubes would make it much easier to hear than a horn.

  • Orgionaly that machine had a wood case and eartubes instead of the horn. Where did you get this? Danke

  • Well,

we know that it had a wooden case, but only eartubes ?

    no horn ?

Its very interesting for us because it´s hard to get information about this type... as far as we know there are only a few machines which had survived.

We found it in a little shop in the czech republic

It was lying on the ground in veery bad condition.

It had token many weeks to get it working again. We used approx. 1gallon of acid to remove the rust...

If you got more information please let us know

    Yours
