We just need 1 first real commercial car in the price range 20-30k, with a decent max speed and good acceleration to fully break the gaz cars market. They are studying the product and testing it. They don't want it to be too good, because it will kill the economy. Think about it, a car where the only things needs to get changed are the tires and the brakes. Good for the environnment AND the custumers, as long as your job isn't a car mecanic.
@aegisknox A car like that is impossible to manufacture. Parts wear out no matter if its gas, diesel, hybrid or electric. Nothing lasts forever so try not to get the idea that you'l only have to spend money on brakes and tires. Lastly, all these so called "green" cars are very costly to make in terms of energy used and materials made. If people really want to make a difference, they need to keep their cars as long as possible instead of shelling out cash for a new car and scraping the other.
@rcmodder Green cars are costly to produce because of the weak demands. Ironically, there is a weak demand, firstly because it's too pricy, but also, because they don't go as fast, and most importandly, they have a crappy autonomy. Green cars don't need their parts to get changed as much. Not so good for the whole car industry. But it's coming. Once they improve the autonomy and the price... gaz car industry will go downhill. At least, that's what i think.
@aegisknox Green cars are costly to produce but they also use alot of resources as well. Their battery packs use materials that are hard to find and hard to recycle. They use resources like electricity which at first glance seems like a great idea but when u study it closely ends up doing more harm I think. Ethanol puts a strain to food supplies since the additive comes from corn. Electricity is generated by the burning of coal in most powerplants.....
@aegisknox ....which is pretty bad since we're already getting to a crisis with the power use in everyday living. Solar energy needs more efficient batteries because even the best batteries we have (lithium I'm guessing) is not only toxic but doesn't hold enough charge. Wind power is unreliable as u know. The only other fuel I can see is fuel cell technology. Gas powered cars will eventually end but these current green cars don't cut it at all.
@rcmodder Yes, you wrote a few good points. Still, i have hope green cars will reach the everage joe money, and will do better to environnement (overall) then the actual gaz cars.

Toyota kept their older EV's on the road, unlike GM who crushed theirs.

This is pretty cool! Toyota and Tesla. I'm worried about the price, and those amber lights NEED TO GO.
