  • I feel your pain... I'm in the middle of a gout attack right now!

  • @rootfish99 Oh boy. I hope you feel better soon. I don't even want my enemy to have an acute attack of gout! Did you try the black cherry juice? It worked for me.

    -- Shoban

  • @kimbhut65 I have been drinking cranberry juice and cherry juice. I finally got some indomethacin and can start feeling better!

  • @rootfish99 Good. You have to watch your diet to prevent future acute attacks. Please talk to your doctor or nutritionist about what to avoid. You don't want another acute attack.

    -- Shoban

  • @kimbhut65 Yeah I have not been taking care of myself like I should lately. Thanks for the advice!

  • i woke up the other day and my toe was so sore i thought maybe i kicked the wall accidentally in the middle of the night then to my surprise i could not walk the next day.

then it affected my other foot in the following days i could not sleep and laid there in excrusiating pain i would not wish this even upon my worst nemesis.

  • This is horrible experiance I had gout in 2002 at the beginning I think broken ankle, is very plainful!

  • Hi everyone, my name is Justin and I wanted to give you some information about a research study for people who have had 2 or more gout attacks in the past year. If you qualify and consent to take part, the study team will evaluate your gout to optimize your long-term treatment. Everyone who takes part in the study will be asked to take gout medications, including allopurinol, with the study sponsor reimbursing the costs of these medicines. goutstudy com

  • I am a newbie to gout and I'm 35. I tried every remedy this past week from Apple Cider Vinegar to Cherry Juice and none of them helped me. I don't know why people on here and on the internet say it works it doesn't. I gave in and went to the doctor and got these pill Indomethacin. Day 1 so far, let's hope this works.

  • @IamLopan Medicine is not mathematics, my friend. A remedy might work for some people, not work for others! Indomethacine did not work for me though it was once considered the drug of choice for acute gout. But lifestyle change such as not eating and drinking certain things, weight reduction, and regular exercise does help in the long run - meaning reduces the severity and frequency of future acute attacks. Follow your doctor's advice. Good luck.

  • @IamLopan I love it! Everyone gets so confused by gout and, personally, I think the powers that be like it that way. The problem is OVERALL acidity - it's not just the uric acid. Get the book Alkalize or Die and you will start to get the picture. I ate handful of ibuprofen on top of indomethacin and colchicine and it still took days to get over some of my gout attacks. Alkalize or Die brother . . . or get a hefty meat cleaver.

  • @PurpleSausage GREAT! But I did not know about tart cherry pillls. I use tart cherry juice (which is not good for my diabetes). Where can I buy tart cheery pills? Any brand name? Thanks for the info in advance. -- Shoban Sen

  • I'm going throw the same thing and I'm type 2 diabetic and like you said I get a brake out two times a year and the pain wow not a joke specially when the wether changes…

  • Weight is no matter to get gout cause I'm under weight, drink occasionally and now I have gout it's my 2nd day today I'm really in pain

  • @mypipe123 Sorry to hear that, my dear. Unless you are diabetic, drink plenty of black cherry juice. It works for most people. And, of course, see your doctor. I have first hand experience of this dreaded disease. Hope you feel better soon. Love,

    -- Shoban

  • im only young an i think ive got this gout, man its makin me cry even.

  • Why have you used a 1940s big band soundtrack for the later part its pretty funny. I had gout a few days ago how big of a factor do you think obesity is in getting gout ? i dont drink but am pretty overweight.

  • @tonymontana1974 I like the music, as do many other people. Moreover, there is no copyright infringement problem with that music. That is why I chose it!

Obesity can and do cause all kinds of medical problems. Impotence to cancer and everything in-between. Do lose weight, my friend. And give up meat, especially organ meat, cheese, etc. (food rich in purine). And EXCERCISE. Ask your doctor, if you don't believe me. CHANGE YOUR LIFESTYLE!!!

  • @tonymontana1974 if your having flair up of gout often have your doctor check your blood sugar. my gout started going crazy and i ended up being type 2 diabetic. i get maybe 1-2 flair up a year usually when the weather changes.

  • good sound effect

  • I got my first round of it in my foot recently, couldnt walk for 3 days, insanely painful. Im not overweight, dont smoke and dont drink.. but I started a high protein diet recently and hopefully it should be an easy fix. Weightlifting will have to wait.

  • @86iceblue High protein diet (meat, organ meat, cheese, etc.) is dangarous for gout. You should avoid food rich in purine. Talk to your doctor, please.

    -- Shoban

  • @kimbhut65 can other sources of protein be used? Do plant based protien sources ie; tofu contain purine?

  • @86iceblue Generally, all plant based foods are safe, but some authorities suggest avoiding certain fruits and veggies. But plant foods are never as dangarous as organ meats, red meats, cheese etc. MANY vegetables contain lots of protein, you don't have to just rely on tofu. All legumes (dry beans, lentils, etc.) are high in protein. It is a very erroneous idea that protein only comes from animals. How do the strict vegetarians get their protein? Ask your doctor.

    -- Shoban

  • @kimbhut65 chesse isn't bad i've never once had a problem because of chesse. red meat on the other hand is the worse thing you can eat if you have gout.

  • you could try Slow Release 75mg /day VOLTAREN,need a good stomach for it but will take care of pain and swelling

  • Out of curiosity, does drinking some apple cider vinager everyday help in avoiding flare-ups of gout or is that an old wives' tale?

  • @SusanMCM Absolutely not. That'll only increase your chance of developing gastric ulcer! Purine-free or low-purine diet and exercise is the only answer. Change in life-style!!!!! (I am amazed they have not yet linked gout with smoking ... but I am sure some day they will do that too!!!!!)

  • GOUT!!! AAARRRGGHHHHH the worst pain ever!!!!

I first got it at 17 and my doctor couldn't believe it! Indomethacid did the trick for me then but I've never known pain like it, I couldn't even stand someone to blow on it (which my brother did - we still miss him after that brick smashed him in the head! lol).

I think I might now have some sort of chronic gout in my knees. They get very, very hot, swell up a lot, itch and become pretty painful. My doctor reckons it's "the damp"!!!

  • @stuartylad I completely sympathize with you. How old are you now? Did you have more acute attacks on your foot after that? Are you taking any preventative measures other than medicines, like diet (avoiding certain foods) and exercise?

    -- Shoban

  • @kimbhut65 I'm 33 now but have only had one acute attack on my foot since although have had twinges that haven't gone any further. It's always located (or at least what I suspect is gout) in my knees now. At home it was all processed food (rubbish) in my youth but my partner is a retired chef who knows so much about nutrition. I'm worried I get it in my hands as I'm a professional pianist. I'm having an op for carpal tunnel tomorrow! I'm just dropping to bits already! How about you?

  • @stuartylad: Try the naturopathic approach.

  • I got it in my foot when I was in my middle 30's and I don't wish this on my worst enemy .I though a dislocated shoulder was bad..oh no...not even close.I just got over a bout of it in my elbow...my elbow looked like Popeyes.. being 17 is so young for this..hate it for you..

  • R.W. Knudsen's Black Cherry Juice is miraculous! Imdomethicin left me riding the porcelain bus.

  • The only thing that keeps my pain down is good ole weed ! You should try it.

  • @tjk1968slice Ha Ha Ha. Do you live in California? I don't. LOL.

    -- Shoban

  • I'm on allopurinol, 300 mg daily and it helps. I combined it with daily 30 mins. light exercises (dumbbells only) and I was able to keep the beast at bay.

I have gout since 18, and I'm 44 now. Believe me, I once crawled on the floor because both my knees were inflamed at that time including my feet. Going to the bathroom was torture.

    Whatever you do, be active.

  • @lanaowest :There is a naturopathic approach, I will post it on my channel for a few days only.

  • @mikemontgomery... yeah iv had gout off and on for 5 years, but i gotta say i,m damm good at fighting it, and i think diet for gout is optional, i think exercise is best, not heavy but totally daily, not to fight it but prevent it, i get it like clockwork if i dont exerceise, or if i drink

  • WOW!!! Today i Had a Gout flare up after not having one for a few monthes. Ive been diagnosed with it since my teens, and now I am 40 years old. Ive tried a ton of medications and home remedies. I am currently on allipurinol, and indomethicine. Im hoping to find a way to have less outbreaks. Ive done the purine free deal and it worked some but not good enough; even exercised more. Just made the gout come back with a vengence. I hope to figure out a better way of dealing and living.

  • @mikemontgomery1970 "Ive done the purine free deal" -- you have to do it for the rest of your life -- lifestyle change! Eat less red meat (NO ORGAN MEAT), drink less alcohol (NO BEER), try to avoid cheeses. Best become a vegetarian (Vegan is even better). Over time you will get lesser and lesser acute attacks. Trust me. And if you get acute attacks, eat plenty of cherries (black cherry juice when the fruit is not available). It really works. Read all comments. It works for most people. Good luck

  • @mikemontgomery1970: There is a better way.

  • eating cherries confirmed the cure of gout within 3 days. but indomethacin didnt work to me. at least 2 pound of cherries in one eating will do the job or i should say around 70 - 90 pcs of cherries. people who suffer try it! it works to me 100% in 3 days.

  • Thank you for that wonderful behavior person's foot!

  • i am a 53 yr old male and last nite began my 3rd attack of gout in the past 16 years...i can safely say that the pain i experienced the previous two times was excruiating.....the previous time which was over 6 years ago i was given indomethicin and it worked great for me. So most likely i will be calling my doctor monday morning but am going to eat bananas and strawberries...heard they might help.

  • Adopt a RAW VEGAN DIET - cures gout at the source of the problem

  • it could be as bad as mine count yourself lucky

  • I feel for ya man. I am 34 and have chronic gout in my feet, knee, ankle and stopped bout everything-drinking, fast food and all that good stuff. Still have gout that just wont go away. I am on a new pill called Uloric and it does help a ton but cost $75 a month and need to take everyday for the rest of my life. I guess thats better than missing work a week at a time per month. With all this gout stuff hitting everyone it makes me wonder. I know its one of the oldest illnesses but WTF!!!!!

  • Having Gout Suxz

  • i just got an epic idea guys!! ok so you've heard that cherries, organic apple cider vinegar and baking soda all help for gout right? well i just got done mixing apple cider vinegar with baking soda and water.. usually apple cider vineger and water tastes so acidic therefor you can't use much ACV but when mixing the baking soda and AVC it cancles the ACVs acidity to the point you could use WAY more at one time. substitute the water for cherry juice and it's like an epic anti-gout cherry soda!!

  • @m3tallih0lic: If you add Soda to the ACV than you will stop it from working. The purpose of drinking the ACV is to force the body's buffer system to alkalize in order to dissolve the uric crystals. Also when drinking a ACV use a straw or you will eventually loose your teeth due to the acid eating away the enamel.

  • @4chango well why use something that could fuck your teeth up when you could just use baking soda to alkalize your system? for the acv to alkalize your system it's got to turn alkalized itself right?? what does it matter if it's alkalized by baking soda or by your own body?

  • @m3tallih0lic:The thing is that I hope people know that the ACV should be diluted and only drank through a straw to avoid contact with the enamel. What happen with ACV when introduced into the system is that it forces the body's own buffer system to alkalize the body. The problem with baking soda is that it reduces the gastric acid-preventing the body from breaking down nutrients, vitamins, mineral, as well as causing deficiencies, constipation, rupture of intestinal lining and many other S/E.

  • @4chango well thanks so much for the info!!! does drinking ACV help get rid of tophi!?! or do you know how i could get rid of tophi?? i think tophi is my main issue right now.. haven't had a flare in a good while.. and is diluting the ACV in fruit juice ok??? how diluted should it be? 50/50 or what??? thanks for the info

  • @m3tallih0lic: Placing 2-4 Tbs. in a cup of distilled water is best, because the sugar in the juice will raise the Uric acid. Getting rid of Tophi or monosodium urate crystals will require more than ACV. I placed the regimen which I give my clients who had Gout on my channel. I will leave it posted for a few more days.

  • @4chango so i can't drink juice and then take ACV??? ok thanks so much, i'm on my way to give it a look right now

  • @m3tallih0lic: I revised the list in order to include the answers to your questions. Also yes the list will reverse the condition.

  • In my case, every anti-inflam med has been an EPIC FAIL except Colchicine. Colchi sometimes gets a bad rap, but as you point out Indo and Naproxen can take several DAYS to affect symtpoms. As anyone with gout will tell you, when attacks come you cant wait 4 days to feel better.

I use Colchi and it relieves the pain MUCH faster than other meds like Indo and Nappy. Colchicine gives you the trots for a day or so, but I accept that instead of spending a week off my feet in severe pain.

  • @spwb2k yes colchicine works best for me too. indomethicin just gave me bad migranes and didnt help with the gout. btw my gout just started to act up today. =(

  • @da73 well good luck my friend. those of us with the Goooot need to stick together.

    shalom in the home!!

  • For those of you willing to take medication.....I have an extreme form of gout. I ended up at UCLA for treatments from the director and professor of rhumetology. My test results were normal....he said I don't care you have gout. He took my allopuronal from 300 to 500 mg....and hardly any problems now. It is a welcomed relief.. I was off work for over a year!!!

  • RESEARCH: SLEEP APNEA AND GOUT... idk about you ppl but i've experienced sleep apnea and have general over all sleep issues that are probably related to the sleep apnea.. notice how the gout strikes at night.. beer also worsens sleep apnea... i want to go about this as if it is a survey due to the fact that i plan on overcomming this gout and helping as many sufferers along the way.. so please if you will.. let me know if you've ever experienced sleep apnea.. a simple "i have" will do.. thanks

  • @m3tallih0lic I DON"T HAVE SLEEP APNEA. :)

    -- Shoban Sen

  • @kimbhut65 lol yayyy

  • I suffer from gout as well. Used to have at least 3 attacks ayear, UNTIL I started taking Allopurinol every day. Since taking it, I haven't had an attack in over 4 years. Plus, I can eat anything and drink beer. If you have gout, talk to your doctor about it!

  • Hey, I have just seem my specialist last week about my gout. The usual questions and answers, but 1 thing suprised me. I have had 3 gout attacks within the last 15 months therefore I have acute gout, if i had gout attacks in 12 months Iwould have chronic gout and I would have to pop a pill every day for the rest of my life( allupurinol). As it's not a curable condition, I have now being living with gout for the last years, so control what you eat and avoid the red meats, beer, strawberries

  • i have gout also and the drugs that the doctor prescribed me are Alupurinol and Celecoxib.. they worked really good! the symptoms are gone 1-2 days! you should ask your doctor about it.

  • i've been taking uricinex, 1000 mg of vitamin c, 2 bananas a day, and a minimum of 2 to 4 pints of bottle water a day...been eating more (less purine) veggies and a cubic inch of meat (no seafoods) per day...avoiding eggs and less fat milk...walking, meditating, and sleeping a lot more than usual...in america, there's no universal health care insurance meaning prevention and a change in lifestyle is the way to go.

  • ....Ok i took 2 capsule on first day, next day i did not feel the pain & the swallowed toe gone........................UNTIL today i am free from gout, and the best part u can enjoy your favourite food without worries and i taken the nutrition on off...........THANKS GOD

  • For the last 2 years i suffered gout.................but now my life is FREE OF GOUT. the secret i want share with all is..............the last time i suffered gout was in june 2009,it was very painful(just like the video),..to cut short the story i meet a good friend of mind hetold me i could cure my gout instantly at first i did not believe himm...but why not... So, he introduced me to a guy who developed natural nutrition capsule from WILD HORSE MILK......

  • oooooooooh

  • try eating pineapple It gave me some relief... also try eating lots of grapes and cherries...

  • @TOTALITARIO999 Unfortunately, my diabetes restricts the use of any of those wonderful fuits! Life sucks!! :-(

  • If you want the best cherry product on the market today- try the Cherry Pro Sport Shots. You

can feel the difference. Plus you can throw them in a bag if you are on the go. Not only that but they remove the natural sugar.

I love this new product. I would also try to drink as much water as you can

a day. Flush Flush Flush your body

  • @teajunelee Thanks a lot for the tip. Do you mean they are suitable for diabetics? Where can I buy the product from? I don't think regular super markets will carry the product.

  • I have recently switched to drinking the tart cherry juice concentrate for my gout. The black cherry juice has to much sugar about 35grams compared to 15 grams in the tart cherry juice. I first learned about it from my doctor and then I watched some of the videos on You Tube. I like the videos by Traverse Bay Farms on the cherry juice they are very informative...check them out.

  • @livingthedreamable Can you get the tart cherry juice at any grocery store or is it a specialty item?

  • I went away travelling for 3 years and din't have 1 gout attack. I was drinking a lot during this time - like a first year student, but for 3 years solid. I have now returned home and have been taking regular exercise and eating sensibly. I drink at the weekends and since xmas I have had 2 attacks... We had Cauliflower last night, could that have triggered it? I really do not want to be tied to allupurinol for the rest of my life - I'm 32 years old. Any suggestions?

  • @cloud9backpacker Talk to your doctor and dietician. I am not a doctor, though I have SOME medical training. Gout at one time was called Rich Man's Disease. Usually rich food (meat, cheese etc.) and alcohol either cause it or aggravate it. Avoid food rich in purine - that raises uric acid level in blood and causes gout. Ask your dietician which food and drink are rich in purine. You have to change your lifestyle or else you'll pay for it.

    Good luck and behave!

    -- Shoban

  • you are taking the wrong medication. Colchicine is excellent for gout. talk to your doctor, this drug should work well for you.

  • @yaparri: Colchicine also causes renal failure. If you are going to take this drug than at least try the homeopathic colchicum formula - it must be take at 30C potency every two waking hours for no more than two days.

  • Definition of purine and the sources: wikipedia Purine

Basically meats and meat products especially organ meat. Purines from vegetables are not associated with gout. Reduce or eliminate your intake of meats, seafood, alcohol and sugar (especially high fructose corn syrup - in soft drinks).

Become a vegetarian but you can still have dairy products. Lose weight! Exercise! And, take large doses of vitamin C.

Get checked for sleep apnea especially if you are overweight.

  • I developed gout last year in BOTH feet and i was taking purinol tabs for about 8 months until i rang out. I really began to watch what I ate, no red meat, no beer, no red wine.. all things you enjoy are now gone. However if you control what you eat and yes you can have some beer and wine ( within moderation) you will have fewer gout attacks. It took a long time for us gout folk to develop this condition and it will take an equally long to to clear up. But keep faith man.. and watch that gout.

  • any liquor is not allowed when u have gour arthritis...it will increase the level of ur uric acid. Best thing to do is have an x-ray of ur feet to see the condition of ur joint. I'm presently working in a foot clinic and seen a lot of x-ray w/ gout and I'd seen the worst case. Hope u guys feel better

  • mundo man kani~! maghugot kana!

  • Can you translate it into English? I hope these are NOT swear words or EXPLETIVES!

    -- Shoban

  • i'm in pain right now, now i read these messages cheery's here i come.

only thing is the store is closed....ohhhhh the pain.....been suffering now off on for 5yrs,,,,never looked into it for a cure but getting more frequent got to do something....so thanks guys just hope it work's for me...

  • Black cherry juice usually helps most people during acute attack of gout. But if you are getting acute attacks more frequently and each attack lasts longer than before, it is time to see your doctor! There are medicines available for daily use that can reduce the intensity and severity of acute attcks, or prevent them all together. But you have to take such meds daily and for life-long! Don't neglect gout - see your doctor.

    -- Shoban Sen

  • I forgot to mention -- gout patients should avoid certain foods and drinks. Most important foods to avoid are organ meats and cheeses, and don't consume alcohol at all. Ask your doctor about foods and drinks to avoid.

    -- Shoban Sen

  • Showban!

I know too well what gout is.

Have had 5 attacts since early 80,s and the last one was just three months ago.

It took me 5 weeks to get rid of it.

Each time you get it every thing gets worse and lasts longer.

Eating Cherrys or Black Cherry juice helps to get rid of it faster, at least for me but will not work for every one.

    Wayne

  • Dear Wayne,

Thanks. I am better now. It was my first attack. And yes, I know about cherries and I am eating them a lot now!

    Thanks again.

    In friendship,

    Shoban

  • tru, when i get mines, i drive toa store called down to earth, one bottle of black cherry juice, by night time im back on my feet

  • As I am reading your comment, I am drinking black cherry juice as a preventive measure. I think I am having a little stiffness and slight pain in the same big toe ... I don't want it again!!!

    -- Shoban Sen

  • it should work, hope it does, this shit hurts cause i have mines now and im planing on going to my lil bros game this weekend, and u knoe ima have some beers.........its throbing at this moment lmaoo

  • Shoban.
