  • @supermetalero3000 Smoking for 40 years and old(er) age does that. Joe was 18-21 years old when he sang this... He's turning 56 in August

  • sorry i dont know alot of def leppard but, why does the vocalist sings different there than now?? sorry for my english

  • This one certainly showcases the young drummer. At times it seems as if the guitars aren't sure what to do with those drum patterns. This causes conflict in the music that could be resolved by the vocals. The vocals could be above the musical battle, as if giving a non-biased, high energy commentary of it. Sadly the vocals seemed swept along by the music, as if they were home watching it all on tv.

This being said, I truely enjoy Def Lep music.

  • thumbs up for deaf leopard!!!!!!!

  • This song should be called 'Glad I'm alive With One Arm'

  • @mbm13213

    HAHAHA *Cough-Ahem* That's awful...

  • My 1st love

  • Aaaaand this isn't on a album WHY?

  • Why the hell are Pyromania and Hysteria DIAMOND certified, and their best stuff is unknown? What is wrong with people. I can't even stand Hysteria, if you want me to barf, put that cd on.

  • this is AMAZING i like it way more then there newer stuff

  • why was this never released on an official album. not a bootleg?

  • mejor que se fueron esos 2 guitarros.

  • I like this.....Rush-type sound.....sounds harder and grungier than their newer stuff.......too bad this stuff doesn't get radio play today.......

  • I believe this was one of those songs from that Ep,"The Def Leppard EP",pressed by the group, then handed out at shows to promote them..one copy was given to a Mercury exec one night, who then signed them..the rest is Leppard History! LONG LIVE "DA LEPS!"

  • @mrmjb1960 Actually the EP had Ride Into the Sun, Getcha Rocks Off and The Overture. The only vinyl release for this song was the First Strike record the bands old managers put out to capitalize on the success of Pyromania.

  • Mutt figured out a way back then to collects a check from songs that Pete Willis wrote after High and Dry... now, you know the rest of the story... plus Shania says "I used Mutt but he used Def Leppard..."

  • When def leppard got it right, they were amazing , when they got it wrong, they really, really got it wrong. probably the worst lyrics to a def leppard song are here. "too many jitters and not enough jive" is just one example of the awful lyrics a young joe elliot wrote here. Hard to belive this is the same band that would go on to record kickass songs like rock rock till you drop and stagefright. also if your bored ceck out my bands songs by clicking on the blue word to your left, def lepp #1

  • why did they hate on through the night?

  • @empiretrooper I think it's only Joe who doesn't like OTTN. Goodness knows why, maybe he thought that with hindsight they could have done better (can't see how, personally). Yet Joe likes Slang, which I'll admit I didn't take to straight away.

  • @GloucesterAdam you're right - I only remember old interviews with Joe where he says OTTN was basically a mistake. I guess even though he sings on 2 of my favorite records ever, I really don't care for his taste in music. I guess I'm another Pete Willis era fan.

  • @GloucesterAdam I would think he is not happy with his performance and the production ...but that just adds to the "feel " of the lp ....nought wrong with the songs though !!

  • @empiretrooper I don't think they hated it. Steve once said that they made that album because they had to... I believe the band underrated OTTN due to the poor quality in terms of production. It's an album that symbolises the begining and the end of an era for DL: the era of innocence. After that came Mutt, the master of production and alongside him, fortune and glory... And as Jo always states, ever since the very beginning, they wanted to be the best... and that brings along fortune and glory.

  • wow this is pretty sweet. its cool to hear some old def leppard. there new stuff sucks :\

  • CATERVA!

  • DEF LEPPARD 4LIFE !

  • Fuckin A riten on a rolling, paper lol love it.

  • D7J7W7,

Thanks for thinking I'm a greenhorn.

But I've been into D/L since Photogragh. I got to loving their music on KNAC out of Long Beach, CA. And I saw them at the LA Sports arena just after the drummer lost his arm.

    Later.

  • First time I've heard this one..... DL should've used this instead of No, No, No

  • Are you knocking Def Leppard? If so, go to hell.

  • @bayhorse01 - relax greenhorn & accept that paddlefoot is speaking the truth of the old ones who have listened to Def Lep from the beginning of time....

  • thankds for this, didnt know it existed, i hate when def leppard sold out to cheerleasder rock, long live the originals!!! bring back the rockers inspired by UFO and such bands!

  • They look SO good. Joe is a doll.

  • This isn't 1980. This is just after they released their independent EP. That's before they put out On Through The Night.

  • Sorry, you are correct, this is from 1979.

  • this is so cool

  • definitely. steve was one of a kind..

  • @devilsunhalopownr

Which, incidentally, is one of the best, if not the best song on that album.

  • DEF LEPPARD 4LIFE !

  • Guitar solo sounds so powerfull !

  • these drums would be KILLER for rock band or guitar hero

  • drums in beginning kick ass

  • there was no end of good songs when willis was there. they wrote good stuff after that, but after clark died they lost there edge. they don't suck horribly, but neither are they as good as they were.

  • The best riffs came from Clark / Willis. Although, Sav wrote Stagefright and the main riff to Hysteria. Hysteria changed the way they wrote, going away from a straight riff to multi tracked interwoven riffs. I miss Steve's writing style.

  • so does everyone else

  • He could have really made a difference if he had lived. Even though he was part to the Adrenalize writing, just listen to Desert Song and Fractured Love. They were from the Hysteria sessions, but man, they were some great riffs. Long Live Leppard, but may we always remember 1978-1991 as the glory years.

  • yeah, i guess so

  • they should have sav write more songs now that steve is gone

  • Too think the original title was "Too Many Jitterbugs"

  • Sav contributes plenty

  • really? what other songs has he wrote? I just want to know, I am not trying to be sarcastic.

  • The verse to Hysteria is his, and he came up with Stagefright from Pyro, No No No from High N Dry, Goodbye from Euphoria and Excitable. His name comes up first on a good bit of songs from the first album, like Rock Brigade and Hello America. He may not write entire songs all of the time, but he has come up with some great hooks.

  • The verse to Hysteria is just slightly re-worked intro to Die Hard the Hunter. And that little riff probably came from another track. Either way, Steve came up with the best riffs.

  • It's like Andy Summers in a glam hard rock band

  • Back when the Leps were NWOBHM. It was the end of an era when Pete Willis had to leave.

  • unfortunately you are right and it was way too short an era

  • I can't wait for their first 2 albums to be digitally remastered and re-released. I'm sure it'll happen in the very near future. :)

  • @Banner1979 Is this Pete saying this because those of us who love them don't feel that way man.

  • @420sogood I know what you mean there. Phil Collen was a very fine replacement and I actually have the next 2 albums they did after Pyromania.

  • Def was great before 87

  • @LORDHATE76

They were great until 1991. When steve died. I mean they still played amazing live

  • @LORDHATE76 I couldn't agree more. High n Dry and Pyromania....amazing music.

  • @LORDHATE76 true 100%

  • @LORDHATE76 No, they were great up til Steve died. Retro active was the last true leppard album with genuine def sound even though it was released after the dissapointing adrenalize. Retro should have been it and then quits. Viv is no leppard.

  • Great song, thanks for sharing!

  • Never herad this 1 killer solo
