Just a tip on Fox Tanuki Youkai Laser - you can actually stand just below her and move just before she shoots. The spread will miss you and the lasers are easy to dodge from there. This also applies for Ultimate Buddhist and Unilateral Contact. In ultimate buddhist, it is a good idea to stay close to her in between the spokes of the wheel. Unilateral contact leaves a giant circle in the middle that is safe, then just move down unfocused before she shoots the next wave

But seriously, I've heard there's a way of making a safespot once the final barrage sets in, but it's very difficult to do and is circumstantial to boot.

@trdl23 : oh, i found it. Just managed to beat Yukari one week ago ( I was yelling like HELL, almost like i'm crazy heh ). A safespot was created like miracle, and help me pass the spell card *"Boundary of Life and Death" of Yukari without using any bomb. Then I finished final spell card with the old strategy "bomb your way to victory".

@uminhcusi It's kind of funny, I can actually capture Danmaku Bounded Field... if I could actually get to it. Double Death Butterfly tends to bend me over, and if I didn't have a couple dumb deaths every time during the stage, I'd manage to take out BoLaD... ah well. Congrats!

The Buddhist card, the way I've seen most people play it, when it's blue you're safe at the bottom. But when it turns red, you'd best get close to the center and spin around with it to avoid getting hit.

Seems like you had a hard time on the Contract Spell Card, too. It's just a time one. Try your best to dodge the bullets while staying within the circle. When it gets to the last few seconds, I often advise a bomb.

Hope that helps for when you go for it again.

when fighting the tanuki laser don't stay near the ground, stay about mid-height. the lasers disappear early enough to find a good spot when you're higher. down there you cannot "choose" your position and get pushed back.

the 12 generals...well, don't move uwards, move to the side, it's easier to dodge the stuff there.

the bhuddist is really high level, but doable if you 1. listen to the sounds and 2. stay close to ran. ran loves ppl near her.

Hey, I'm starting to notice a pattern with extra stage bosses. The 9th spell card has the boss disappear while the player has to wait for the timer to run out, and the last one starts out easy, then get a little harder about every 10 seconds.

It's just a matter of preference. I use Reimu B due to her shot and speed. In any game she has this type of shot, that's what I use. As far as i know though, Sakuya B is the best for scoring in this game. Sakuya A and Reimu A are too weak for me, and Marisa is generally just too fast.

Sakuya A has been my personal preference. I'm still fairly new to Touhou, and I find Sakuya A to be the easiest to use. She either has a very wide spread, or very focused aimed shots. It lets me not have to really worry about aiming and just focus on dodging. I was recently able to beat Ran with her, finally...

I use Sakuya B lately and the Extra stage is easy with her since you can kill all wave spammers before attacking after the streaming spammers.

However, Ran is a hell for her, because her bombs make Ran dissapear, and Sakuya B's bombs take a lot of time.

@DanDanRevolution You and I kinda play the same, Marisa's too fast, I always side-swipe a bullet after dodging it, and Sakuya just doesn't suit me, Reimu's small hit-box is also very generous and for me necessary as I'm not the most skilled Touhou player around, people like Kefit can use Marisa, not me though.

2: what do I press to toggle "walk/run"? i had the impression you sometimes do babysteps and other times move really fast.

Both questions can be answered at the same time. The shift key is used to focus. While focused, your hitbox becomes visible, your shot changes(focuses), and you move slower.

If you watch the orbs around my character, they are in front of me when i'm focused, and off to the side when i'm unfocused.

It should also be noted there's a ton of differences involving scoring with the two. Generally speaking focused is more powerful, but scores worse.

It also affects which bomb you use.

@DanDanRevolution I have a question you might know the answer: you said that focused is more powerful but scores worse, buuut....... if you are more powerful, you beat the spellcards faster, and if you beat spellcards faster you get more spellcard bonus points. Then it's still better for scoring shooting unfocused or you get a better score the way I said? =/ I always had that doubt about PCB, I think ZUN should have added a manual, like in TH12.5 or 12.8

I like Marisa's speed and I usually chose the stream laser, but in this game I prefer to use Sakuya A because all of the knives go to the right place. I also feel Reimu is too slow sometimes, but that's just my opinion

I personally use Marisa B. Master Spark and Non-directional laser always give me security, even though their power is moot due to Ran's hax bomb dodging. I haven't gotten past "Charming Siege from all Sides" (4th spell card) yet though T.T.

The swastika card is actually fairly easy when you learn the pattern, plus Ran's bullets all turn into point items so you can farm the card for a nice leap towards an extra life.

You can look for '[touhou game] extra walkthrough' on Youtube and find guides made by some Y-something guy (Yoslime??), they're amazingly helpful.

Well, as I see the most powerful beings in Touhou Project are:

a.) Yukarin, as you've seen in this video.

b.) Yuka, as even Perfect Memento in Strict Sense says no normal human can exterminate her, and even Reimu hasn't yet.

c.) Shinki, ruler over Makai, the land of the demons.

I'd also say Mima-sama, but I'm not really sure if there's proof of her power that is actually canon. ^^~

Anyways, yeah, Yuka and Yukari are commonly considered 2 of the most powerful youkai in gensokyo. Suika is often included as well, though you wouldn't guess so from her appearance. If we were to get technical, many of the other youkai and even humans have powers that would make them unstoppable, as you(or DarkJoker, rather) said with Yuyuko, but it's not really the same thing. (Yuyuko's probably my favorite character though)

Also, Flandre, though she never gets out.

Looking at my game timer for PCB, I'm at 48 hours for the actual play time. attempted extra Stage 158 times and 350 times to 1 cc the game on normal. yea too much time. Not to mention the time I've spent on Embodiment of the scarlet Devil and unlocking Extra stage for both characters.

Eh, it gets easier the more you play it. For instance, The only other run i've taken on this(successfully), i captured 7 of Ran's cards and ended with 2 lives. 2 of the cards i failed i had captured previously. There are currently only 3 spell cards i haven't successfully captured, and one is in the mid-boss(which i think i know how to do now) The other 2 are the final card and the "Buddhist" card. The Extra *Extra* stage(phantasm stage) however... yeah... it'll be a while before i beat that.

To get the Buddhist one down, just hug to the left of the very inside of the red swastika when it shows up and ride it around. Also if you are able to capture 12 general gods the way you do it while standing in the middle of it all, I applaud you heh.

Also, how are you able to capture Charming Siege from all sides? Luck? Because I always get completely cornered by the red orbs at the worst possible time forcing a bomb out of me.

I'm 3/9 on Charming Seige with Reimu B(which is who i mainly use) Luck does seem to have a bit to do with that one, as it seems the green shot is a little random(as far as how far up you can move at least) Also, if you are interested in my 2nd clear, go to "replays gensokyo org" (with dots of course)

Looks like you need to hump the inside circle because obviously the outside catches you, but then you have to dodge the orbs every couple seconds while going in a circle. FFFFFFFFFF(Lukewarmholiday)
