Drum Circle in downtown Asheville, NC

to call this improvised is being very kind. in order to improvise music, one must first have the skills to execute musical ideas. this is just a bunch of people making noise with percussion instruments.

I am an improvising musician, and these types of open drum circles do not have the listening and responding that improvised music requires. If you enjoy participating in them or listening to them, great. But this is not improvised music, it is disjointed noise.

Stayed in Ashevill for a rock climbing trip and The drum circle was pretty sweet at night time. It gets pretty crowded. Asheville is a really nice City

this drum circle is the best, i'm not even a drummer, a hippy or new agey or any of that, but friday night everybody shows up here and gets a chance to blow off some steam as a community. the yuppy invaders complain about it and try to pay the city to stop it. if that ever happens it will be a sad day for asheville north carolina.

I go to drum circle all the time. You might rag on our hippie party but once it gets dark, the music gets intense and the circle gets packed full, and everybody's dancing on the same beat and the energy is so focused and high that you don't even need drugs. And I'm not an old hippie from 1969 or anything. I'm 17.

Asheville's probably the best city on Earth.

A couple of my friends take part in this and go to it almost every Friday at Prichard Park, they are not hippies, they are really cool people, unless you know all of the people in the circle or around it, shut the fuck up, putting everyone in a generalized group isn't cool. Just because I listen to heavy metal people think I'm an immoral person who does drugs, same thing here. Go die Fagholes.
